Weeping Creek Valley is the first major region you'll explore in Phantom Blade Zero, and there's much more to it than following the main path. Hidden weapons, optional bosses, side quests, and valuable upgrade materials are scattered throughout the valley. Some are easy to miss, while others require you to return with new Phantom Edges.
This LDShop walkthrough takes you through the main story, important side quests, boss fights, and collectible locations so you can clear the valley without leaving valuable rewards behind.

Weeping Creek Valley Overview
Weeping Creek Valley contains 23 Bells, 7 collectible Weapons and Phantom Edges, 4 Sha-Chi Amber Fragments, 4 Blackstone Fragments, and 1 Memory Flower, alongside accessories, medicines, and optional challenges.
Not everything is accessible on your first visit. Some locations, including parts of Crimson Manor, require later story progression.

Weeping Creek Valley Main Story Walkthrough
1. Against the Flow: Reach the Red Thread Barrier
After Soul awakens in the valley, follow the stream upstream. Defeat the Maskwalkers along the way and speak to the dying villager, who asks you to save the settlement ahead.
Climb the scratched rock wall and activate The Beginning Bell. Bells restore your health and medicine, reveal nearby map sections, and unlock fast travel.
Continue across the wooden scaffolding until you find a ladder descending to The Lady's Rift Bell.
There's an optional Rift beside it containing the Aberrant Three-Faced Puppet. You can enter to unlock the Triple Threat Tale, but save the actual fight for later.
From the Bell, climb back up and swing across the chain. Defeat the dual-wielding enemy to obtain Hunter's Insight, an accessory that boosts damage against attacking enemies.
Continue through the valley until you meet Yu'er near a waterfall. Exhaust her dialogue, particularly the options about her father and the mysterious weeping.
Before climbing the nearby ladder, pick up Sanguine Twin from the weapon rack beside the waterfall. Activate the First Meeting with Yu'er Bell above.
Further ahead, defeat the enemies fighting near the waterfall to obtain Battle Wraps.
When you reach the Red Thread Barrier, activate its Bell, then follow the red thread along the nearby paths.
At Broken Puppet Valley:
- Activate the Bell and collect the book beneath the tree to start Four Fierce Axes.
- Defeat the shielded enemy guarding the red-threaded camp.
- Open the chest behind him for a Sha-Chi Amber Fragment.
The red barrier will disappear. Return to the Red Thread Barrier Bell and proceed through the waterfall.
2. Defeat Jagged Steel and Reach the Outpost
Beyond the waterfall, you'll encounter Jagged Steel, the Frenzied Brute.

Defeat him to obtain the Jagged Steel weapon, then activate the Rustblade Pavilion Bell.
Continue uphill and defeat the enemies ambushing you near the crates to collect another Sha-Chi Amber Fragment.
Follow the path through the grassy area, activate the Outpost Courtyard Bell, and clear the enemies near the settlement entrance.
Once the guards let you through, explore the Outpost before advancing.
Important stops include:
- Brooding Old Archer: On a rooftop, starts Purge the Sect.
- Forge: Unlocks weapon upgrades. Pick up Sanguine Reach from the rack beside her.
- Two guards near the chained barrier: Start Festering Secret.
- Petrified Mandate Disciple: Speak to him inside a nearby building to unlock information needed for Boulderguard.
- Outpost Bell: Your main fast-travel point for completing nearby Tales.
Before challenging Peng Meng, take a short detour to collect the Cell Key. From the Outpost Bell, head upstairs and turn right just before the glowing red shrine. Follow the path uphill to a small house, then continue to the raised courtyard behind it to find the key near a corpse.
Return to the Outpost entrance and take the descending path to the left of the main gate. Unlock the cell at the bottom to collect a Blackstone Fragment.
3. Defeat Peng Meng and Unlock the Dread Axe
Return to the upper path beyond the Outpost and head toward Peng Meng, the Axemaster.

Defeating him rewards you with the Dread Axe, your first Phantom Edge. Equip it immediately, as you'll need it to smash chained barriers throughout the valley.
Activate The Axemaster's Fall Bell, then make two important detours before continuing.
First, return to the Outpost and break the chained barrier beside the guards. Clear the enemies inside and collect another Sha-Chi Amber Fragment. Speak to Yu'er near Forge to begin Apprentice Healer.
Next, revisit the Petrified Mandate Disciple if necessary. After learning about the grave near the stables, travel to The Axemaster's Holding Cell and examine the grave to obtain Boulderguard.
Nearby, break another chained barricade to reach a chest containing Focus Pill. You can also collect Blood-Stopper Vine from the stream beneath the bridge for Yu'er's quest.
Missable: Speak to the Petrified Mandate Disciple and investigate the grave before moving on to later regions. Otherwise, Boulderguard may become unobtainable.
4. Steel and Steam: Clear the Archer Camp and Sha-Chi Tower
Continue across the bridge and use the Dread Axe against shielded enemies. Break the next barricade to enter Creek Valley Plains
Speak to the distressed Mandate Disciple near the entrance to unlock Deep in the Valley, then continue toward Ruthless Archer Camp.
Clear the archers, including those on elevated platforms. The encounter rewards you with a Blackstone Fragment and the Broken-String Bow.
Don't forget the chest containing Token of Pursuit.
Important: Return to the Brooding Old Archer at the Outpost and give him the Broken-String Bow. He will repair it into the Feather Bow Phantom Edge, completing the relevant stage of Purge the Sect.
Now return to Ruthless Archer Camp and cross the wooden bridge to reach Sha-Chi Tower.

Before climbing the tower, consider taking the optional path behind its first-floor entrance.
Circle around the right side, slide down the wooden ramp, and follow the path toward the red flower field. Here, you'll encounter Hua, Deadly Betrothed.
Defeating Hua rewards you with Scarlet Wraithblade. After the fight, collect the Twin Flesh Lilies beside her altar and deliver them to Yu'er at the Outpost to advance the Flesh Lily Tale.
Back at Sha-Chi Tower, climb through its interior until you reach the summit. Speak to the friendly Shadow Warden to begin A Severed Mindseal.
Continue across the rooftop and descend the long ladder. Defeat the enemy below to obtain the Sha-Chi Furnace Inspection Crank.
Take the crank to the first-floor furnace, open its mechanism, and collect the Primal Stone. Retrieve the crank afterward, since another furnace requires it later.
Return the Primal Stone to the Shadow Warden, then continue toward Waterfall Bridge and the Great Waterfall.
5. Defeat The Hunt at the Great Waterfall
Activate the Great Waterfall Bell before approaching the arena.
The Hunt returns for a full boss fight featuring two phases. His long-range chain sickles, rapid combos, and grab attacks make this one of the toughest encounters in the valley.
Defeat him to obtain Hunter's Chain Sickle, a Phantom Edge that also allows you to grapple to previously inaccessible platforms.
This unlocks several important collection routes. Don't rush into the next region yet.

6. Deep in the Valley: Unlock the Lower Tower
With Hunter's Chain Sickle equipped, fast-travel to Valley Sha-Chi Tower Summit.
Climb to the upper roof and grapple to the previously unreachable platform to collect the Sha-Chi Tower Base Camp Gate Key.
Next, travel to Creek Valley Plains Entrance and unlock the gate nearby.
Explore the newly accessible settlement and activate the Lóng Pillar Overlook Bell. Open the nearby chest to obtain the Rusted Loong Key.
Cross the bridge and collect Congealeaf for Yu'er. Use the Rusted Loong Key to unlock the cave gate behind you, then defeat the enemies inside for the final Sha-Chi Amber Fragment.
Continue to the Weeping Creek Lóng Pillar Bell. You can attempt its challenge now or save it for a later visit.
Follow the river beyond the pillar to collect Blemish Goldweed, completing the three-herb set for Apprentice Healer.
Return to Yu'er at the Outpost and hand over the herbs to receive Medicine Case.
To finish exploring the lower tower, return to the area beneath Sha-Chi Tower. Clear the monks for another Blackstone Fragment, then reach the Valley Sha-Chi Tower Base Bell.
Use the furnace crank here to obtain Reflex Device, an accessory that makes Perfect Parry and Perfect Dodge timing more forgiving.
Climb the tower's lower section to find Vessel Restorative in a chest near the upper platforms.
Finally, locate the red lift enclosure near the lower tower. Lure an exploding enemy toward the blocked entrance to destroy it. Ride the lift down to Crimson Manor, activate its Bell, and collect Ancient Armor Fragment near the entrance.
The manor's interior remains a later-game objective.

Important Side Quests and Missable Rewards
Several Tales begin in Weeping Creek Valley, but some continue well beyond the region.
Yu'er's Flesh Lily and Apprentice Healer
For Flesh Lily, speak to Yu'er near the first waterfall, defeat Hua beneath Sha-Chi Tower, collect the Twin Flesh Lilies, and return them to her. Her storyline continues later in Pangzhen.
For Apprentice Healer, collect these three ingredients:
- Blood-Stopper Vine: Stream below the bridge near The Axemaster's Holding Cell.
- Congealeaf: Across the bridge near Lóng Pillar Overlook.
- Blemish Goldweed: Downstream from the Weeping Creek Lóng Pillar.
Deliver all three to Yu'er for Medicine Case before defeating Jing Ye, The Outlaw, in Crimson Forest.
Purge the Sect and Festering Secret
Purge the Sect begins with the Brooding Old Archer. Collect Broken-String Bow at Ruthless Archer Camp and bring it back for repair.
Festering Secret begins with the guards opposite Forge. After obtaining the Dread Axe, break through the chained barricade and clear the enemies inside. Speak to the Swordsman Captain near the Outpost entrance to receive his orders. Later, after unlocking the Sha-Chi Tower Base Camp, deliver the orders to the blue-robed Mandate lieutenant and return to the captain with the evidence to complete the Tale.
Complete both before defeating the final boss of Crimson Forest, or these Tales can fail.
Four Fierce Axes, A Severed Mindseal, and Whence the Weeping
For Four Fierce Axes, collect the first case file near Broken Puppet Valley. Additional records appear throughout the Outpost, Axemaster's Holding Cell, and lower tower. Follow their scroll markers to track the investigation.
For A Severed Mindseal, obtain the Primal Stone from the Sha-Chi Tower furnace and deliver it to the Shadow Warden before leaving Weeping Creek Valley. This first hand-in is missable, although the Tale continues in later regions.
Whence the Weeping begins automatically near the start of the valley. Ask Yu'er about the mysterious crying, but don't spend hours searching for its source here. The quest continues through later regions, eventually reaching the Mountain of Imprisonment.
Weeping Creek Valley Collectibles Checklist
Before moving on, check these key collectible categories.
Sha-Chi Amber and Blackstone Fragments
|
Collectible |
Locations |
|
Sha-Chi Amber Fragments ×4 |
Chest at Broken Puppet Valley; ambush after Rustblade Pavilion; enemies behind Outpost chain barrier; locked cave beyond Lóng Pillar Overlook |
|
Blackstone Fragments ×4 |
Locked Outpost cell; Ruthless Archer Camp; grapple-access chest near the lower waterfall settlement; monks in the lower Sha-Chi Tower |
Collecting four Amber Fragments increases maximum Sha-Chi, while four Blackstone Fragments provide a permanent combat upgrade.
Accessories, Medicines, and Hidden Items
Besides Hunter's Insight, Battle Wraps, Boulderguard, Token of Pursuit, and the other equipment already covered, make sure you collect:
- Focus Pill: Chest beyond the chained barricade near The Axemaster's Holding Cell.
- Lingran's Pendant: Return to the starting stream after obtaining Hunter's Chain Sickle and grapple onto the hidden platform.
- Counterstrike Bracers: Reward from the Weeping Creek Lóng Pillar challenge.
- Shenji's Ring: Found during a later return through The Lady's Cave.
- Memory Flower — Leng Tu's Memory Flower V. Mirrors and Ruins: Located inside Crimson Manor during a later visit.
Some later collectibles require additional story items or Phantom Edges, so an incomplete map percentage after your first trip is normal.
Weeping Creek Valley 100% Completion Tips
After completing the initial valley route, return to finish any remaining objectives.
Check the Bells, collect the available Wulin Tales books, finish Yu'er's early requests, and secure all seven region-specific weapons and Phantom Edges.
For the remaining areas:
1. The Lady's Cave: Return after progressing to Village of Lu and unlocking the relevant Tale. Collect Shenji's Ring and additional quest items.
2. Crimson Manor: Return when you obtain the required Puppet's Tongue. Explore the interior for its Memory Flower, Scavenger Pens Bell, and Puppet Scavenger encounter.
3. Weeping Creek Lóng Pillar: Complete the challenge if you skipped it earlier.
4. Late-game barriers: Revisit remaining blocked routes once you have the appropriate Phantom Edges, including Tiger Cannon.
Before leaving for Crimson Forest, give priority to Purge the Sect, Festering Secret, Apprentice Healer, and the Boulderguard prerequisite. These are much easier to permanently miss than ordinary chests.
Conclusion
Weeping Creek Valley rewards careful exploration, but you don't need to clear every challenge immediately. Secure the missable quests, collect the essential weapons, and use your new Phantom Edges to revisit hidden routes as they open.
