What Is Trial of Swordmancy?

Trial of Swordmancy

Trial of Swordmancy is a permanent combat mode introduced in Version 1.3, located in Sword Vault Dale. The mode comes in two variants: Rewarded Trial, which gives you up to three attempts per day to earn Wuling Stock Bills, and Free Trial, which you can play unlimited times but without currency rewards. Those Wuling Stock Bills are the main resource you'll be farming — they're used to upgrade your Trial Arena.

How to Play

Drawing Dataplates and Battle Points

When you start a rewarded run, you'll draw Dataplates one by one, up to five total. Each card tells you two things: which enemy you're about to fight, and how many Battle Points it's worth — somewhere between 1 and 5. Add up those points as you go. That total decides how hard the fight will be and how many Wuling Stock Bills you get at the end.

Trial of Swordmancy

The deck of Dataplates resets every three days, so the enemies and point values change regularly. On the right side of the screen, you can always see how many cards are left and what point values are still in the pool. Use that to plan your next draw.

Now, here's the key. If your total lands exactly on 10, congratulations — you just scored 160,000 Wuling Stock Bills for that run. That's the jackpot.

But if you go over 10, you trigger Data Overflow. Your reward drops to a lower tier, and the enemies jump from level 60 all the way up to level 90. Yes, you read that right. It's a massive spike. During your daily rewarded runs, you really want to avoid overflow at all costs.

Trial of Swordmancy

Free Trial

After you use up your three rewarded attempts, you can still play Free Trial mode. You won't get any Wuling Stock Bills, but there's a reason to do it: challenge. In Free Trial, you can deliberately go into Data Overflow. If you draw four or five Dataplates in overflow, you'll face a fight where all enemies are level 90. That's significantly harder than anything in the normal 1–10 point range, and it's a great way to test your team's limits or just have some fun.

Maximizing Your Daily Rewards

Reward Doubling

You can activate Reward Doubling for a run, but only after you've drawn your second Dataplate and before you draw the third. Once you draw the third card, the decision is locked. A successful doubled run gives you 320,000 Wuling Stock Bills instead of 160,000. You can do this up to twice per day, and the number of daily doubles increases as you upgrade your Trial Arena.

There's a neat trick: if you double a run, then accidentally trigger overflow, you can abandon that run and keep the double opportunity for your next attempt. That means you don't lose your precious double if you mess up.

Abandoning Runs

You get three rewarded attempts per day, and you also have three free abandons each day. If you go into overflow or just don't like your current total, you can abandon the run without losing a rewarded attempt — as long as you still have a free abandon left. After those three, each abandon will cost you one of your daily attempts.

Score Strategy

A good rule of thumb: don't accept any score below 8. With three abandons per day, you can usually reroll until you get something between 8 and 10. This is especially important when you have a double active — you want that double to land on a run worth at least 8 points, ideally 9 or 10. Use your doubles on your first two runs, when you still have all your abandons available, to maximize your chances.

Upgrades, Events, and Collectibles

Trial Arena Upgrades

Trial Arena

Wuling Stock Bills are used to upgrade the Trial Arena. Each level increases the baseline rewards for each Battle Point tier and unlocks Reward Doubling. Early advice from players who've pushed the mode: get your arena to Level 4 as soon as you can. That's when the rewards really start to feel worthwhile, and you'll have full access to the doubling mechanic.

Trial Algorithmic(v1.3 Limited)

Trial Algorithmic

During Version 1.3 only (roughly June 12 to July 16, 2026), there's an extra tab called Algorithmic Test. Completing Missons there gives bonus loot: Oroberyls, Advanced Progression Crates, Marks of Perseverance, and more. The mode itself is permanent, but this bonus event is not — so grab everything before it closes.

Engraved Medal – Zenith of the Trials

Zenith of the Trials

For collectors, there's an exclusive Engraved Medal called Zenith of the Trials. To earn it, you need to finish a trial with a total of 21 Battle Points. That means you have to go into Data Overflow (past 10) and then keep drawing until the sum reaches exactly 21. It's a tough ask — those level 90 enemies hit hard — but the medal looks great on your profile.

Recommended Turret Setup

Turret Setup

There's only one good spot to place turrets — up on the wall. You can put three there. The combo that works best for most players is: one Sedgehammer Mortar, one Acid Soaker Mk, and one Marsh Gas MK. Together they give you bonus damage, a 20% defense shred, and a slow effect. If you want, you can swap to two Acid Soaker turrets instead. Power them with SCing Batteries so you don't have to run cables across the map. Simple and effective.

Combat Tips

Combat Tips

If you fail a challenge, you lose a daily rewarded attempt — even if you got zero rewards. Keep these tips in mind to stay safe:

  • Bring your strongest team and pack some healing items. Survival comes first.
  • Stay close to the turret wall. Your turrets will do a lot of the work if you let them.
  • If you trigger Data Overflow in a rewarded run, be ready for a real fight — the difficulty spike from level 60 to 90 is no joke. Good dodging and consistent healing are what keep you standing.
  • Don't forget: daily runs are not meant to be brutally hard. Save your high-risk attempts for Free Trial.

Final Thoughts

Every new mode takes a few runs to click. Trial of Swordmancy is no different — but once you get the rhythm, it becomes a solid part of your daily routine. The mix of RNG and combat keeps things interesting without being punishing. Give it a fair shot, learn from your early overflows, and you’ll be walking away with full rewards before you know it. Good luck out there.
