Hey Protos, welcome to the Chaos Zero Nightmare Full Reroll Guide! If you’re anything like me, you want to log into day one with someone that actually makes the game fun — and strong.
Rerolling in this game is totally doable, but the trick is to be efficient and to know who’s worth chasing. I’ll walk you through a quick reroll loop, how many pulls you can reasonably expect, and then — the juicy part — which 5★ to aim for.
Table of Contents
How many pulls do new players really get?
When you first log in, you’ll get pre-registration rewards + beginner mail + launch gifts, which together give you:
- 24 tickets for the Beginner Banner (Special Rescue Request), equal to 30 pulls (Special Rescue Request)
- Plus around 1,200–1,600 Crystals (depending on event region), equal to 8-10 additional pulls on any banner you like.
Now here’s the key part: If you happen to draw a 5★ early, that pull will close (or “burn”) the beginner pity — meaning the beginner pity is effectively consumed and you no longer need to keep pulling there. In that case you can safely stop rerolling and either focus on leveling your new 5★, or move any leftover crystals over to the Haru Rate Up Banner to try for other limited picks.
When to Stop Rerolling?
In Chaos Zero Nightmare, the beginner banner offers a 1% base SSR rate per pull. The table below shows how likely you are to get at least one SSR within 40 draws — a realistic sample for reroll testing.
Event |
Probability |
Avg. Rerolls Needed |
No SSR |
66.9% |
— |
Exactly 1 SSR |
27.1% |
≈ 3.7 |
At least 1 SSR (≥1) |
33.1% |
≈ 3.0 |
At least 2 SSR (≥2) |
6.0% |
≈ 16.7 |
Exactly 3 SSR |
0.68% |
≈ 147 |
These numbers illustrate why chasing “perfect double SSR” rerolls is extremely time-consuming — statistically, you’d need around 17 full rerolls just to see a double once. For most players, stopping after one good SSR is the smarter play.
- If you pull one strong 5★ plus a solid 4★, stop — that core clears story, handles challenges, and lets you progress. Invest time in learning systems and building them rather than rerolling.
- Perfect stop: two 5★ that genuinely synergize (e.g., Khalipe + Renoa or Kayron + Mei Lin). Paired kits simplify rotations, spike clear speed, and make early progression effortless.
- Don’t waste time chasing a “double Khalipe.” The game grants enough early pulls and resources; a single good 5★ will carry you while you naturally expand your roster.

Best 5-Star Character Picks for Beginners
Alright, this is the part that really matters. I’ve compared community tier lists, numbers of analysis, and my own test runs — these are the best early characters to keep.
T0
Khalipe (Shielder) |
Khalipe is a rare carry/support hybrid: she deals excellent AoE and single-target Tenacity damage while also providing shields and utility. Her Celestial mechanic lets her play many of her most expensive cards for free after spending 2+ AP, turning high-cost plays into huge value swings. That makes her extraordinarily flexible — she can solo-carry many early stages while still filling protective support roles for tougher encounters. Stop and keep Khalipe if you pull her. |
Mei Lin (DPS) |
Mei Lin shines as a low-cost, high-efficiency single-target breaker: she applies Passion Weakness reliably, buffs herself massively, and has insane card draw and AP efficiency. Her burst windows are devastating for boss and elite fights, and her Ego Skill provides one-turn power spikes that win rounds. Mei Lin’s low-cost kit makes her easy to slot into a beginner roster and lets you hit big damage without perfect artifact or team support. |
T1
Renoa (DPS) |
Renoa is a scaling single-target powerhouse built around Dirge Bullets: generate the bullets, then cash them in for massive extra-attacks and burst damage. She needs careful card management and timing — her payoff is huge but setup-dependent — so she’s not as plug-and-play as Gold picks. Renoa’s Epiphanies and extra-attack synergies reward players who enjoy planning turns; she rewards practice with very high single-target DPS in the midgame. |
Kayron (DPS) |
Kayron trades AP efficiency for monstrous damage: his Void mechanic and Oath of Vanity Epiphanies let him convert cheap status cards into major damage and utility, but many of his best moves are AP-expensive. He becomes terrifying as fights lengthen and when his Epiphanies are unlocked, so Kayron is a great reroll if you like high-scaling, payoff-focused carries who shine in prolonged encounters. |
Hugo (DPS) |
Hugo’s “Hunt Commence” extra-attack engine makes him a consistent sustained-damage dealer: stacking Hunt Commence turns routine attacks into repeated follow-ups, giving reliable single-target output across long fights. He needs allies who attack frequently to maximize stacks and has limited AoE, but his consistency and scaling make him an excellent mid-tier keeper for players who want steady, less bursty DPS that still clears endgame content when built correctly. |
Rin (DPS) |
Rin centers on maintaining Dark Cloud Stance to boost nearly every card she plays, which leads to massive single-target damage when set up correctly. She’s stance-dependent and can be disrupted by allies’ attacks, so team construction matters more with Rin than with simpler carries. If you enjoy stance-maintenance play and disciplined rotations, Rin is a strong silver-tier keep — potent but requiring thoughtful roster choices. |
Magna (Shielder) |
Magna is a defensive pick with good counterplay: she offers solid shielding, Vulnerable application, and automatic Crystallization shields, plus decent AoE potential when set up. Her kit is AP-hungry and gains more from being attacked/triggering counters, so she shines in content where enemies hit frequently. Magna is a reliable utility/defense anchor if you prefer survivability and control over raw burst damage. |
T2
Veronica (DPS) |
Veronica (ballista & draw engine) and Luke (crit-reliant handgun bullet maker) are niche: both can be powerful in the right builds but require more support, crit investment, or upgrade-heavy play to excel. Consider them only if you like their playstyles or as secondary pulls — otherwise focus on the T0/T1 names above. |
Luke (DPS) |
Quick reroll — The Fastest, Clearest Way
I’ve done this more times than I want to admit, so here’s the method that saves you the most time:
- Platform pick: I use a guest account on my phone for one casual reroll — just to check that everything works. Then I set up multiple emulator instances (I like LDPlayer) for the serious rerolling session. That way, I can run two or three accounts in parallel and finish several runs in the same time it takes to do one.
- Finish tutorial & prologue: unavoidable — expect ~15–20 minutes per run; fast-forward dialogue where possible.
- Collect everything in Mail: pre-reg tickets, launch gifts — count your Rescue Anchors and tickets.
- Where to spend: if you want a quick guaranteed 5★, spend on Special Rescue Request (Beginner Banner) — you’ll get a guaranteed 5★ within 50 rescues on that banner. If you prefer to gamble on a limited (Haru), you can, but remember you likely only have crystals enough for 10 pulls at launch unless you bought currency.
- If you get a 5★ you like: bind the account and celebrate. If not: Reset Server (in settings → account) and repeat. The game lets you delete user data, so you don’t need a pile of throwaway emails — lovely and tidy.
Conclusion
Rerolling in Chaos Zero Nightmare is surprisingly painless once you know what you’re doing. Aim for one of the strong 5★s (Khalipe, Mei Lin, or Nia), use your free 40-ish pulls smartly — all in Special Rescue Request or 10 on Haru if you want to gamble, the rest on the Beginner Banner — and enjoy your guaranteed 5★ at 50 rescues.
And hey — if you want all your faves right from the start, don’t wait! Top up Chaos Zero Nightmare Crystals at LDShop to zoom ahead, grab every shiny banner unit, and flex your dream team early!
