Clash of Clans Clan Capital Guide: Districts, Raids & Rewards Explained

The Clan Capital launched alongside Clash of Clans' tenth anniversary in May 2022, and it fundamentally changed how clans operate. Unlike the Home Village or Builder Base, the Capital is a shared project — your whole clan builds it together, raids with it together, and earns rewards as a team. If your clan hasn't paid much attention to it, you're leaving a steady stream of Raid Medals and upgrade resources on the table every single week.

This guide walks through how the Clan Capital works from the ground up: what unlocks it, how the districts are structured, how Raid Weekends run, and what to do with your rewards once you've earned them.

What Is the Clan Capital?

The Clan Capital is CoC's third game mode, running alongside the Home Village and Builder Base as its own separate system. To access it, your clan needs to be at least Level 2, and your personal account needs to have reached Town Hall 6. Once those conditions are met, you'll find an airship next to the Builder Base boat that takes you up to the Capital.

Clan Capital

At the heart of the Capital is the Capital Peak, which houses the Capital Hall. Think of the Capital Hall the way you think of a Town Hall in your home village — it's the structure that governs everything else. Upgrading it is what unlocks new districts, raises the ceiling on your District Hall levels, and opens up features like Raid Weekends. The Capital Hall also functions as an active defense during raids, similar to an Eagle Artillery, automatically targeting attackers once it hits level 2.

Below the Capital Peak sit up to eight additional themed districts, each one a separate mini-village with its own District Hall, buildings, troops, and spells. Every district unlocks at a specific Capital Hall level and brings something new to both your offensive lineup and your defensive layout.

The Two Currencies: Capital Gold and Raid Medals

The Clan Capital runs on two separate currencies that serve completely different purposes.

Capital Gold

Capital Gold is the construction resource. You use it to restore ruins, upgrade buildings, and level up District Halls. It stays strictly within the Clan Capital — you can't transfer it to your Home Village or Builder Base. Capital Gold is earned through Raid Weekends (the more districts you destroy, the more you earn), through the Forge (which lets you convert Home Village or Builder Base resources into Capital Gold using a Builder), through Season Challenges, and through occasional limited events. Your storage cap sits at 35,000 Capital Gold.

Raid Medals

Raid Medals are the reward currency earned at the end of each Raid Weekend based on your clan's combined attack and defense performance. These can be spent at the Trader on Magic Items, resources, and Clan Castle troop fills. Raid Medals carry a storage cap of 5,000 — any excess above that automatically converts into gems at a rate of 1 gem per 100 medals, so it's worth spending them regularly.

One important thing to remember: these two currencies are not interchangeable. Capital Gold builds your Capital; Raid Medals are your personal reward that you spend in your own village.

Districts: What They Are and When They Unlock

Districts

Each district below the Capital Peak has its own identity — unique terrain, a dedicated set of troops and spells, and defensive structures you won't find anywhere else in the game. Districts don't just add variety; each one directly expands your available army for Raid Weekend attacks.

The terrain in each district also shapes how raids play out. Water blocks ground troops unless a Frost Spell freezes it solid. Cliffs stop ground units but flying troops pass over them freely. Bridges create natural choke points that defenders can exploit with building placement. These aren't just cosmetic details — they directly affect which troop compositions work in a given district.

How Raid Weekends Work

Raid Weekends

Raid Weekends are the weekly event that drives the entire Clan Capital economy. They run from Friday to Monday, giving up to 50 clan members a window to attack enemy Clan Capitals and defend their own.

On offense, the goal is to 3-star each enemy district, then take down the Capital Peak. Each player starts with five attacks per weekend. If you fully 3-star a district on your attack, you earn a bonus sixth attack — but that's the maximum. Because districts usually take more than one player to fully destroy, the damage and spell usage from previous attackers carries over, so coordination matters. A clanmate who chips away 60% of a district's buildings is setting up the next attacker, not wasting their turn.

On defense, your Capital holds off enemy raiding clans automatically. Your clan's leaders and co-leaders handle the defensive layout — the placement of buildings, traps, and defenses across each district. Strong defensive play earns your whole clan additional Raid Medals, calculated based on the total enemy troop housing space your defenses manage to destroy.

Rewards at the end of the weekend are distributed to everyone who attacked, even if they've since left the clan. The number of Raid Medals you earn is determined by the number of districts your clan destroyed and how efficiently your attacks were — fewer attacks to clear more districts means a higher medal payout per member, up to a cap of 1,620 medals from attacking alone. Defensive medals can add up to 350 more on top of that.

Spending Raid Medals: What's Actually Worth It

The Trader refreshes every Tuesday with a rotating stock of items purchasable with Raid Medals (or Gems). A few categories tend to offer the most value:

  • Research Potions speed up your Laboratory, which is one of the slowest upgrade paths in the game at higher Town Hall levels.
  • Builder Star Jars and Training Potions help you push more multiplayer attacks during an active farming or trophy session.
  • Starry Ores are among the rarest items for upgrading Hero Equipment and are worth prioritizing when they appear.
  • Clan Castle troop fills let you instantly load your Clan Castle without waiting for donation requests, which is useful before war or a Raid Weekend defense.

The Trader offers the same inventory to everyone in a clan at the same time, so if a particularly good item shows up, your whole clan sees the same deal.

Tips for Getting the Most Out of Every Raid Weekend

A few habits that make a consistent difference:

Keep an eye on which enemy districts are already partially damaged before choosing your target. Finishing off a 70%-cleared district costs fewer troops and earns the bonus attack for your clan, compared to starting fresh on an untouched one.

Coordinate army compositions across your clan. If multiple members are all deploying the same troop type into a district that counters it, attacks pile up without making progress. Discussing which districts each group will handle — and with what troop mix — tends to produce better results than everyone going in independently.

Contribute Capital Gold regularly rather than saving up for big single drops. Since upgrades complete the moment the target is hit, steady small contributions from many members are more effective than sporadic large ones.

If your Raid Medal balance is approaching 5,000, spend some before the weekend ends. Letting medals convert into gems at a poor rate is a straightforward loss.

FAQ

Does it matter which Town Hall level I am for Clan Capital participation?

You need Town Hall 6 or higher to enter the Capital and contribute, but once inside, all clanmates contribute to the same shared base regardless of their individual TH level. Raid Weekend attacking power does scale with your Capital's troops, not your home village level.

What happens to my Capital Gold contributions if I leave the clan?

Any Capital Gold you've already donated stays with the clan and goes toward whatever upgrades were in progress. You don't get it back, and you'll need to start fresh contributions in any new clan you join.

Can I do Raid Weekend attacks alone if my clan is inactive?

Raids are clan-wide events. If other members aren't attacking, your total medal output will be lower since the rewards scale with districts destroyed across all of your clan's raids — not just yours. Active clans with coordinated attacks consistently hit higher medal totals.

Is there a way to speed up Capital Gold farming outside of Raid Weekends?

Yes — the Forge converts Home Village Gold, Elixir, Dark Elixir, Builder Gold, or Builder Elixir into Capital Gold. Once your Builder Hall hits level 8, you unlock four conversion slots. You can also speed up conversions with Gems if you're in a hurry.

What's the Raid Medal cap, and what happens if I go over?

The cap is 5,000 Raid Medals. Any medals earned beyond that automatically convert to gems at 1 gem per 100 medals — a pretty poor exchange rate compared to what you could buy directly with those medals. Spend regularly to avoid hitting the cap.

Should our clan prioritize offense or defense when upgrading districts?

Both matter, but defensive buildings have a direct weekly impact on medal income, so they're worth prioritizing earlier. Offensive unlocks (new troop types and spell factories) pay off over time as your Raid Weekend attack efficiency improves.

Whether your clan is just getting the Capital off the ground or pushing into the higher District Hall levels, the fundamentals stay the same: consistent Capital Gold contributions, coordinated Raid Weekend attacks, and smart Raid Medal spending. The more organized your clan plays it, the more everyone earns each week.
