The June 2026 season is one of the bigger Clash Royale updates in recent memory. It's not just about new cards — there's a new game mode, a reworked event format, and the removal of King XP entirely in favor of a new Collection Level system. A lot is changing at once, so here's a clean breakdown of everything arriving this season.

New Evolution: Princess
Princess is the latest card to receive an Evolution, and her new form fits a chilling Arctic theme. Evolved Princess fires an icy arrow on her first shot and every third shot after that — each one slowing nearby enemies on impact. The slow effect doesn't stop when she's eliminated, either. When Evolved Princess is defeated, her arrows drop to the ground and leave behind a frost zone that continues to slow any enemy troops who walk through it.

This makes her a particularly strong zone-control tool, especially in decks that rely on slowing pushes before finishing them off with towers or splash damage. Princess Evolution can be unlocked using Evolution Shards or through the Upgraded Pass Royale.
New Hero: Tombstone (Regal Revival)

Hero Tombstone is the first building-based Hero card in Clash Royale history. You deploy the Tombstone as a building first — it functions as a normal Tombstone until you activate the ability. When you press the ability button, Regal Revival triggers: the Tombstone is destroyed and Tomb Queen rises from the ground to target enemy buildings. The ability costs 6 Elixir, so timing matters — once you activate it, you lose the building.
Hero Tombstone is available for free through the Undead Bazaar event arriving with the season, so players won't need to spend resources to unlock the base card.
New Game Mode: Princess Gambit

Princess Gambit strips away deck-building entirely. Instead of your usual eight cards, you draw randomly from a pool of 40 cards throughout the match — and you'll likely never see the same card twice. Matchmaking works similarly to Trophy Road, and the card levels you see are based on each player's actual Collection.
At the start of each match, the game will tell you which cards will appear in their Evolution and Hero forms. Those cards are active from the very beginning — no cycling required to trigger the transformation.
The format is also sudden death — only Princess Towers count, and the first player to destroy one wins immediately. Princess Gambit is worth trying if you have a diverse card collection, since the matchmaking scales to what players actually own. It's also a natural sandbox for experimenting with cards you wouldn't normally build around.

New Event: Victory Run
Victory Run is the new recurring event format for this season. The concept is straightforward: win battles in any mode, advance one step up a reward track. Lose a battle, lose a life.
You start with 3 lives. When lives run out, you have two options: reset to your last checkpoint (free, lives refilled) or spend Gems to stay at your current step with lives refilled. Pass Royale holders get an extra life for a total of 4. Every few wins you'll hit a checkpoint, which locks in your progress, improves the rewards on the track, and fully restores your lives.

Victory Run is limited-time but will appear multiple times across the season. Since any mode counts toward progress, the safest strategy is sticking to your strongest ladder deck rather than playing high-variance modes like Princess Gambit or Mega Draft while chasing the event.

Progression Overhaul: Collection Levels Replace King XP
This is the most significant structural change of the update. King XP and King's Journey are being removed entirely and replaced with a new Collection Level system.
How Collection Levels work: Add up the levels of all your cards. Every Evolution you own adds +5. Every Hero you own adds +5. That total is your Collection Level. Each time you upgrade any card, your Collection Level goes up by 1 — rarity doesn't affect this.
How rewards work: Your first reward unlocks at Collection Level 20. After that, rewards come every 10 levels. Past Collection Level 1500, the pace increases to every 5 levels.

Masteries are also being simplified. Tasks now reward Gold only — and more of it. Gems and Wild Cards previously in Mastery tracks have been moved to Collection Level milestones with increased amounts overall.
Seasonal Trophy Road Returns — Now Split in Two
Seasonal Trophy Road is back but with a significant change: it now splits into two separate Seasonal Arenas after you complete the main Trophy Road.
Seasonal Arena I works as before — earn Trophies, progress along the road, earn rewards, use whatever deck you like.
Seasonal Arena II introduces a real constraint: the 8 cards you won with most in Arena I become banned. You'll need to build a different deck from scratch. To keep this fair, all cards are boosted to a minimum of Level 15 in Arena II, so lower-level collections won't be punished by the format.

Completing both arenas earns you the 2026 Seasonal Trophy Road badge. Progress resets each season so there are new rewards to chase every month.
Other Changes Worth Noting
A few smaller but meaningful quality-of-life updates are also coming with this patch:
- Pass Royale streak rewards are now permanent. You won't lose your streak if you miss a day.
- Mini Pass is a new lower-cost, shorter reward track available for a limited window (around 5–7 days) as a more accessible alternative to the full Pass Royale.
- Catch-up rewards will be added for players who fall behind the average trophy level in their arena.
- Global Tournament spectating returns — you'll be able to watch top players compete live again.
FAQ
When does the June 2026 update go live?
The update was announced on May 21, 2026 and is set to arrive with the new season. Supercell hasn't confirmed an exact deployment time, but season transitions typically happen at the start of June.
Is Hero Tombstone free or paid?
Hero Tombstone can be unlocked for free through the Undead Bazaar event arriving next season. You don't need Pass Royale to get the base card.
Do I need to build a different deck for Princess Gambit?
No. Princess Gambit has no deck-building at all. Cards appear randomly from a pool of 40. You'll see your own card levels and forms based on your Collection.
Will my King Tower Level drop when XP is removed?
According to Supercell, your King Tower Level will either stay the same or increase — it won't go down after the transition to Collection Levels.
Is Victory Run a separate matchmaking queue?
No. Progress in Victory Run tracks wins across all normal modes. You don't enter a separate pool. Play your strongest ladder deck for best results.
What happens to Gems and Wild Cards from Masteries?
They've been moved to Collection Level milestones, where Supercell says players will actually earn more of them over time compared to the old Mastery system.
