Clash Royale Season 10 Complete Guide: Ronin Arrives, Full Breakdown

Clash Royale's auto-battler spin-off is entering its fourth full season since Merge Tactics moved to a seasonal reset structure last September, and this one leans on a character players already know from the main game. Ronin, who joined Clash Royale's Trophy Road as part of the Forest Gang, crosses over into Merge Tactics as a playable Ruler starting July 13, giving the mode a villain-turned-ally with a kit built around area denial rather than raw stat checks.

Season 10 also breaks from the pattern of the last couple of updates by not touching the troop rotation at all. Recent seasons typically cycled a handful of cards out to make room for new ones, but this time the full existing pool stays intact while two Electric-trait troops rejoin it.

New Ruler: Ronin and Double Edge

New Ruler: Ronin

Ronin's ability is called Double Edge, and it works more like a trap than a direct attack. Before a battle starts, the player picks a tile on the board. Once combat begins, Ronin readies his blades and waits; the moment an enemy troop steps onto that chosen tile, he fires off an X-shaped strike that hits everything in its path, with the troop standing on the center tile eating double damage.

That setup rewards players who can read enemy positioning and bait opponents into predictable movement patterns, which is a different skill than most existing Rulers ask for. His Ruler Quest tracks kills with the ability directly: defeat 1, 3, and then 5 enemy troops using Double Edge in a single match to clear each tier.

Ronin can only be unlocked this season by leveling up through Starsteel Road, Merge Tactics' seasonal progression track. Unlike some previous Rulers, there's no shortcut skin sold in the Ruler Cosmetics Shop to grab him early. Two additional cosmetic looks, Void Ronin and River Ronin, along with a Scissored Slash confetti effect, are also earnable for free on that same track.

Skins and the Ruler Cosmetics Shop

While Ronin himself isn't purchasable this season, the Ruler Cosmetics Shop still gets new content: an Arcade Machine skin and a matching Perplexing Pixels confetti effect for Battle Machine. Anyone who hasn't unlocked Battle Machine as a Ruler yet can pick him up directly through this skin, which has become a fairly common way for Supercell to let players catch up on Rulers they missed in earlier seasons.

Ruler Quests and Equipment Rework

The Ruler Quests themselves aren't changing this season, but what players actually pull from Quest Orbs is. The three orb tiers now hand out a clearer mix of rewards:

Orb Tier

Rewards

Quest 1

6 Elixir, Equipment

Quest 2

1x 2-Star Troop (Baby Dragon, Giant, Goblin Cage, Royal Giant, Skeleton Dragon), 12 Elixir

Quest 3

1x 3-Star Troop (Archer Queen, Boss Bandit, Electro Giant, Electro Wizard, Golden Knight, Mini P.E.K.K.A, Mega Knight, Monk, P.E.K.K.A, Skeleton King), 24 Elixir

Equipment is where Season 10 makes its biggest structural change. For the first couple of weeks, only Equipment that already existed stays in the pool. Then, starting July 31, eight brand-new pieces drop in at once, pushing the total Equipment count from 8 up to 16. That's a full doubling of build variety roughly midway through the season, so players who plan around item synergies will want to reassess their comps once the second wave lands.

The new pieces cover a wide range of playstyles:

Equipment

Archer Queen's Cape

Card Pool: Electro Troops Return

No cards are rotating out of Merge Tactics this season, which is a change from the usual add-and-remove cycle. Instead, two Electric-trait troops that had been absent make their way back into the pool:

  • Electro Giant — summons a damaging electric field that stuns nearby enemies every second

  • Electro Wizard — fires lightning bolts that stun multiple enemies on a short cooldown

Both plug back into the Electric trait, which triggers after 6 seconds of combat and strikes all enemies with lightning, dealing bonus damage to already-stunned troops. At its second breakpoint, that lightning strike damage doubles from 10% to 20% of max HP, so stacking Electric troops together remains a viable way to punish slow-moving enemy comps.

Modifiers: Reshuffled, Not Expanded

Modifiers

Unlike the Equipment pool, Starsteel Road's Modifiers aren't getting any brand-new additions in Season 10. Supercell is instead reshuffling which Modifiers appear at which League tier and bringing back a few that had rotated out in previous seasons. That's a lighter-touch change compared to recent updates, where new Modifiers like Chaos Chaos and Ultimate Origins were introduced alongside league restructuring. Players climbing Starsteel Road this season should expect some familiar match-altering effects to resurface at different points than before, which can shift how predictable early-League runs feel.

Why This Update Matters

Season 10 is a lighter patch on paper compared to some of Merge Tactics' bigger overhauls, but the timing of the Equipment expansion is worth planning around. Because the second batch of Equipment doesn't arrive until July 31, roughly two and a half weeks into the season, players climbing Starsteel Road early will be working with a smaller item pool than those who push hard in the back half. Ronin's ability also introduces a genuinely different mechanic to the Ruler lineup, since it depends on prediction and tile control rather than passive stat buffs, so expect early meta discussion to focus heavily on where to place his trap tile against common enemy pathing.

FAQ

Is Ronin worth unlocking early in Merge Tactics Season 10?

Since Ronin can only be earned through Starsteel Road progression this season, with no shortcut skin available, players aiming to use him competitively will need to climb leagues steadily rather than buy their way in.

Do I need to wait for July 31 to use the new Equipment?

Yes. Only the previously released Equipment is available at the season's launch on July 13. The eight new pieces, including Archer Queen's Cape and P.E.K.K.A's Sword, unlock starting July 31.

Are any troops leaving the Merge Tactics card pool this season?

No. Season 10 doesn't rotate any troops out, which is different from several previous seasons that swapped cards in and out.

What's different about Electro Giant and Electro Wizard returning?

Both are Electric-trait troops, so bringing them back also makes the Electric trait bonus (which stuns and damages all enemies after 6 seconds) more consistently buildable for players who want a stun-heavy comp.

Will old Rulers and skins from previous seasons still work?

Yes, Rulers and skins unlocked in earlier seasons stay in a player's collection permanently, even after Starsteel Road resets.

Season 10 lands July 13, so there's still time to finish up whatever's left on the current Starsteel Road before the reset. For more Clash Royale and Merge Tactics guides, event breakdowns, and top-up help, LDShop keeps its coverage updated as new seasons roll out.
