Crystal Of Atlan Assassin Starter Class - Everything You Need To Know

Class Overview

Assassin is a brand-new starter class introduced alongside the original five in Crystal of Atlan. This class excels at swift movement, closing gaps quickly to deliver powerful melee attacks and eliminate enemies before they can retaliate. Its greatest strength lies in devastating combos that can swiftly bring down opponents once players manage to get close.

Playstyle Analysis

Unlike other melee classes like Swordsman or Puppeteer, Assassin’s overall stat at the start of the game is quite low in comparison, making the damage overall seem quite low upon first impression. In exchange for this, however, the class is much more agile in movements and attacks, allowing players to quickly deal with enemies and dodge enemies’ attack more smoothly with various skill combos and defeat the enemies by controlling the enemies’ movements.

In terms of PvE, the class excels at dealing with boss enemies thanks to its rapid single target attacks and the ability to quickly dodge enemies’ attacks with quick movement skills. However, the class is less effective when dealing with large groups of enemies, especially tanky enemies or enemies that can attack you from afar, making it harder to approach them and require you to spend too much time to skill combo before being able to finish the enemies off while being attacked by other enemies on the field.

In terms of PvP, the class is extremely powerful in PvP contents, especially on 1v1 matches thanks to the class’ skills and abilities to quickly dodge enemies’ attacks and easily recover from enemies’ crowd control attacks. Additionally, the class’ agility also helps immensely when approaching the opponent to deal damage to them. That being said, the main downside of the Assassin class lies in its melee centric skill kit, which makes it extremely difficult for the class to go against ranged classes.

Important Class Skills

As a starter class, Assassin doesn’t have access to too many skills and abilities at the start of the game. However, there are some impressive skills and abilities that players can get upon reaching lv5 and lv10 that can help shake up the class’s playstyle and help the players to quickly level up during the initial stages of the game.

The skills that the Assassin class have access to includes:

Overall, the skills available for Assassin class at the start is quite limited in nature, so players should focus on investing in PvE centric skills and abilities to be able to farm as quickly as possible in order to achieve Class Change.

Class Change Paths Analysis

As one of the game’s starter classes, the assassin class can change into 2 different stronger classes upon players reaching class level 15, unlocking further paths, with each advanced class having their own advantages and disadvantages as well as different stat requirements and priorities. Additionally, the advanced classes for Assassin have vastly different playstyle, making it extremely important for players to choose the advanced class according to their own personal playstyle to maximize the potential of the classes despite being able to change class mid game.

The 2 advance classes that players can trigger class change on Assassin upon reaching level 15 are:

  • Specter

Specter is a physical based advanced class for the Assassin class that focuses on dealing massive amounts of damage to a single enemy by quickly approaching them and dealing massive combo skill damage to increase special stacks and obtain special buff stats to boost the character’s damage output. Specter excels at quickly dealing damage to the enemy by approaching them in close combat while being able to also dodge enemies’ attacks by moving swiftly away.

In terms of PvE, Specter specializes in being the team’s main damage carry against boss enemies, with the class strong single target attack damage and swift attacks. The main downside for this class in PvE starts to show itself when dealing against large hordes of enemies, making it harder to move through the battlefield and dealing with the enemies one by one.

In terms of PvP, Specter excels at quickly approaching the opponent in 1v1 matches and quickly finishes off the enemy with his fast attacks and skill combos. In 3v3 matches, Specter can serve as the team’s main DPS option that can take out the opponent’s main DPS option by quickly approaching them. The main downside for Specter in PvP is that the class is highly susceptible to range attacks from agile range classes.

  • Mirage

Unlike the normal Assassin class and the Specter class that focuses on Physical Single target attacks, Mirage opens up an entire new door for players in terms of playstyle by allowing players to deal massive area of effect attacks that can deal amazing damage while crowd controlling large groups of enemies and deal with all downside the other 2 classes have.

In terms of PvE, Mirage excels at clearing waves of enemies thanks to all of the class’ extremely large AoE attacks and powerful crowd control effects. Additionally, Mirage excels at dealing damage from afar without having to approach the enemies, allowing players to attack from a distance. The main downside of the class in PvE is simply the lower damage modifiers and the fact that magical attacks can be resisted by more enemies than physical attacks.

In terms of PvP, Mirage can be considered a crowd control support role in 3v3 matches, with his large AoE attacks and crowd control abilities being able to restrict the enemies’ movement on the field, allowing other teammates to approach enemies and deal damage to them with ease. Alternatively, Mirage does worse damage overall in 1v1 matches against high damage and agile classes.

Tips & Tricks For The Best Start

Dodge & Distance Is Key In Combat

As a melee class that is more frail than other melee classes and requires players to approach the enemies as frequently as possible to deal swift and precise combo skill damage to be able to defeat the enemies, learning when to dodge and keep your distance when playing Assassin is one of the most crucial thing players need to learn.

In both PvE and PvP contents, Assassin does relatively high damage in exchange for the limited range available for the clash, therefore, players need to make good use of all the movement options and the class’ agility to their advantage. Learn to use Assassin’s movement abilities well and learn to keep your distance before challenging high difficult bosses in PvE or challenging opponents 1v1 in PvP and take full advantage of the class's high damage output to find openings to finish the enemies off as quickly as possible.

Fast Combo Skills & Normal Attacks

Assassin is perhaps the game’s most agile and movement intensive class in addition to probably being the game’s most combo heavy class, requiring players to quickly use his skills in succession in addition to normal attacks to make a string of combos to defeat the enemies quickly.

Therefore, to become the top Assassin class player in the game, you will need to learn his attack combo properly and be able to quickly execute the combo as quickly as possible with precise hand movements, making the class one of the most skill heavy classes in the game. So players should practice well before attempting to use the class in PvP and high level PvE contents.

Exchange Offense For Defense When Needed

As one of the most fragile yet powerful melee classes in the game, normal Assassin stat build would want players to invest in making the class into essentially a class canon, with various stat investment in offensive stats such as attack, critical damage and more.

However, if players are not confident in their action speed or if players want to ensure that the character can survive longer in both PvE and PvP contents, exchanging some of the more offensive stats for some defensive stats like HP or Defense can be considered.

Additionally, one of the stat players should absolutely invest in is Agility since it is one of the core stats for the Assassin class the subsequent advance classes, making investing into the stat one of the most important parts of the Assassin class’ stat spread.

Class Advancement Based On Your Playstyle

In terms of the overall meta for both PvE and PvP, the 2 advance classes for Assassin - Specter and Mirage have their own unique places in the game’s meta and both are generally considered the same ranking in PvE and PvP, with the only big difference between the 2 classes being their playstyle.

Therefore, when advancing to an Advance Class, players should focus on picking either of the two classes based on your preferred playstyle rather than based on the overall meta of the game right now, as both classes are generally as strong as the other.

Once again, Specter is basically the upgraded version of the normal Assassin class, focusing on dealing single target damage and quick movements, while Mirage is an entirely different playstyle, focusing on dealing magic damage to large area of enemies and crowd controlling them to create opportunities for allies in both PvE and PvP contents.

Conclusion

And with that, we have gone over everything players need to know about the Assassin starter class in Crystal of Atlan. As the newest starting class in the game, players who want to experience the class will need to create an entirely brand new character to play, therefore, we hope that with this guide, players will be able to have an edge over other players starting out and will be able to advance in Crystal of Atlan and become some of the best Assassin class players in the game’s leaderboard.
