Fundamentals of Team Building

In order to create the best possible teams, it is important to understand the very basics of it and when it comes to team building, the two main fundamentals are: Team Roles and Elemental Advantage.

Team Roles

Every team has specific roles and keeping a balance is extremely important, especially in Duet Night Abyss because it ensures survivability in long fights, sustain healing, and great DPS. This factor becomes more and more important as you climb through higher levels of content in the game. In DNA, the three main pillars of a strong team are: 

DPS

DPS are the main source of Damage Dealer in the game and they deal the highest overall damage output. These characters are capable of unleashing massive attacks on enemies, clearing enemy waves, stacking damage over time and applying AOE based pressure. 

Support

Support characters are to be the supportive pillar of the team and responsible for holding the team together by applying buffs to boost stats of the main DPS on the team, debuffing the enemies and sometimes even acting as the secondary unit of DPS. Supports are the key in setups to deal massive damage using the elemental reactions.

Healer

Lastly, the third role is Healer. In any game, healing is as important as dealing damage because healing ensures survivability. Elemental Advantage

The other fundamental of team building is elemental advantage. Each character has an elemental affinity of its own. In DNA, there are a total of 6 elements as of now, which are:

• Anemo
• Electro
• Lumino
• Umbro

These elements gain extra effects which deal periodic elemental damage but 2 out of these 6 elements have additional effects – Lumino & Umbro. While the Lumino element characters will have their bonus effects refreshed, Umbro characters will reduce enemy stance recovery speed. 

Elemental Advantage Chain

• Hydro → Pyro
• Pyro → Anemo
• Anema → Electro
• Electro → Hydro

The elements follow an advantage chain where Hydro is advantageous against Pyro and disadvantageous against Electro, Pyro is advantageous against Anemo, Electro is advantageous against Hydro but disadvantageous against Pyro. The advantageous element deals 400% more damage while the disadvantageous element deals 50% reduced damage.

• Lumino → Umbro
• Umbro → Lumino

The Lumino and Umbro are exceptions as they are only advantageous against one another and in a state of disadvantage against the other elements.

This lineup focuses on Rebecca as the main DPS for the Hydro lineup, Truffle and Filbert as the healer for the team who will be responsible for providing massive heals and damage buffs to the teammate. Lastly, fill the spot with Tabethe to utilise her Tentacles to provide skill damage buff and CC abilities.

3. Electro Team

For the Electro lineup, we have 2 teams. The first one uses Rhythm as the DPS while the Team #2 uses Sibylle as the main DPS. For the Healer, Truffle and Filbert hold the spot and keep her good work with the healing and damage buff. Tabethe works great even for the Electro team due to her skill damage buff and immobilization from the Tentacles.

4. Pyro Team

In the Pyro Team, Lynn serves as our main source of damage. The Healer spot is again taken by Truffle and Filbert. But for the support role, we have Protagonist with her 51% Weapon DMG Buff, 100% Trigger Probability Increase, and 54% CRIT Chance boost. You can still opt for Tabethe and switch her with Protagonist.

Phoxhunter are great for shielding and Berenica serves as the secondary DPS.

In the Team #1, Rebecca still continues to serve as the best DPS character and Truffle and Filbert fill the healer role. Phoxhunter fills the Support role in the Mid game for you. She is best even in the Mid game due to her massive shielding abilities.

In the late game progression, Phantasio takes the seat as the main DPS source. He deals massive damage in the late game and a top tier pick as one of the best boss fight characters.
