EA FC 27 Best Midfielders: Top 15 Ratings, Best by Position & League

A great midfielder in EA SPORTS FC 27 cannot be judged by one number alone. A CAM needs creation and end product, a holding midfielder must protect space and recycle possession, while a box-to-box CM has to contribute at both ends of the pitch.

That makes ranking midfielders different from ranking shooters or pace merchants. For the overall Top 15, this guide follows EA’s current Rank order across players listed primarily at CAM, CM, CDM, LM, and RM. For the positional and Ultimate Team sections, we then look deeper at the attributes that actually suit each role—Passing, Dribbling, Defending, Physicality, Shooting, and Pace.

The ranking also shows why OVR should only be the starting point. Valverde is down at 87 OVR but combines 90 PAC, 84 SHO, 81 DEF, and 85 PHY, while Bruno Fernandes has a lower 89 OVR yet owns an extraordinary 92 PAS. Different systems will favour very different cards.

The right midfielder is only one part of a strong Ultimate Team. FC 27 Coins from LDShop can help you upgrade the supporting pieces and build a more complete squad.

Who Is the Best Midfielder in EA FC 27?

Best Midfielder in EA FC 27

By EA’s current Rank order, Rodri is the highest-ranked midfielder in FC 27. His 90 OVR is backed by 86 PAS, 85 DEF, and 81 PHY, making him the strongest-rated natural holding midfielder in the database. His detailed profile is even more suited to possession control, with 93 Short Passing, 91 Long Passing, 90 Ball Control, and 93 Composure.

That does not automatically make him the best midfielder for every Ultimate Team squad. His 62 PAC is a clear limitation if your midfield is expected to cover large spaces.

For sheer completeness, Jude Bellingham arguably has the most balanced profile among the five 90-rated midfielders. He is the only one of that group whose six face stats are all at least 79, combining 86 SHO, 88 DRI, 79 DEF, and 85 PHY. He also carries 90 Short Passing, 87 Long Passing, 93 Stamina, and 90 Composure.

So the answer depends on the job: Rodri leads the official ranking, while Bellingham looks like the more complete two-way option on paper.

FC 27 Best Midfielders by Position: Top 8

Overall Rating works well for the main leaderboard, but splitting midfielders by role gives a much clearer picture. A 90-rated CAM and a 90-rated CDM are solving completely different problems.

Best Central Midfielders (CM)

For a CM, passing and ball retention are crucial, but the most valuable options also contribute defensively or offer enough mobility to cover ground between both boxes.

EA’s CM ratings currently place Pedri and Vitinha at 90 OVR, followed by João Neves at 88.

Pedri and Vitinha are the obvious possession-oriented leaders, both reaching 91 DRI while staying close to 90 Passing. João Neves offers a very different profile: his 86 DEF is higher than either of them, while 87 DRI and 82 PHY allow him to combine ball progression with much stronger defensive work.

Valverde is the statistical outlier. His OVR is lower, but 90 PAC and 85 PHY make him far more suited to covering large areas than most of the technically stronger players above him.

Best Attacking Midfielders (CAM)

CAMs need to create chances without becoming passengers in front of goal. Shooting, Passing, and Dribbling therefore matter much more here than raw Defending.

Bellingham leads the position at 90 OVR, with Messi and Bruno Fernandes both rated 89.

Bellingham is comfortably the most complete two-way CAM, but Messi and Bruno are more specialised creators. Messi combines 89 PAS with 90 DRI and 87 SHO, while Bruno sacrifices Pace for the best raw Passing rating in FC 27 at 92 PAS.

Musiala is particularly interesting for dribblers. His 90 DRI includes 94 Agility, 93 Balance, and 92 individual Dribbling, making close control the defining feature of his card.

Best Defensive Midfielders (CDM)

At CDM, the priority shifts toward Defending, Physicality, passing security, and the ability to move the ball out of pressure.

Rodri leads the position at 90 OVR, while Kimmich and Rice follow at 88.

Rodri remains the strongest overall holding midfielder, but Kimmich is a better pure distributor. His 90 PAS includes 92 Crossing, 91 Short Passing, and 93 Long Passing.

Rice gives up some passing quality but provides the more mobile defensive profile, combining 85 DEF and 84 PHY with 94 Stamina. That should make him particularly useful when the role requires repeated recovery runs rather than simply holding a central zone.

Best Left Midfielders (LM)

LM is naturally more attack-oriented, so Pace, Dribbling, and progression become more important than defensive output.

Luis Díaz is comfortably the highest-rated option at 88 OVR.

Olise’s profile explains the gap. His 89 PAS and 91 DRI are supported by 94 Vision, 90 Short Passing, 91 Agility, and 92 individual Dribbling, while 82 SHO prevents him from being just a creator.

Mbeumo and Coman are faster alternatives, but neither comes close to Olise's combination of ball control and chance creation.

Best Midfielders to Use in FC 27 Ultimate Team

The highest OVR does not automatically produce the best Ultimate Team midfielder. Pace, role, defensive coverage, ball control, stamina, and the surrounding formation all affect how easily a card's ratings translate into actual matches.

Jude Bellingham — Best All-Round Midfielder

Bellingham has perhaps the safest all-purpose midfield profile in the entire group. His 79 PAC, 86 SHO, 83 PAS, 88 DRI, 79 DEF, and 85 PHY leave no obvious hole, while 93 Stamina supports the amount of ground a box-to-box player needs to cover.

His alternate CM position is particularly important. Used deeper than his primary CAM role, the mix of 90 Short Passing, 81 Standing Tackle, 85 Sliding Tackle, and 90 Composure gives him legitimate value on both sides of possession.

Federico Valverde — Best Box-to-Box Profile

Valverde may be only 87 OVR, but his face stats are extremely well suited to Ultimate Team.

The standout number is 90 PAC, including 93 Sprint Speed. Add 84 SHO, 81 DEF, 85 PHY, 94 Stamina, 95 Shot Power, and 92 Long Shots, and he has the tools to cover space, break forward, and threaten from distance without needing to be protected defensively.

Bruno Fernandes — Best Pure Creator

No player in the current FC 27 ratings database has a higher Passing rating than Bruno's 92 PAS.

The detail is even stronger: 95 Vision, 94 Short Passing, and 94 Long Passing make him the clearest specialist for unlocking compact defences. His 85 SHO and 90 Shot Power also mean defenders cannot simply sit off him. The tradeoff is 67 Pace, so he will rely more on positioning and passing angles than carrying the ball through open space.

Rodri — Best Holding Midfielder

Rodri remains the obvious choice when you want a midfielder to sit, defend, and dictate possession.

His 85 DEF includes 86 Defensive Awareness and 88 Standing Tackle, while 93 Short Passing and 91 Long Passing let him immediately turn a recovery into controlled possession. The downside is clear: 62 Pace and low agility make him far less forgiving when pulled out of position.

Michael Olise — Best Attacking Wide Midfielder

Olise is much more of a creator than a traditional central midfielder, but his 90 OVR base card looks exceptional for an attacking RM.

The combination of 83 PAC, 82 SHO, 89 PAS, and 91 DRI gives him several routes to influence a game. His 94 Vision and 92 Dribbling should be especially valuable when moving inside from the right, while CAM as an alternate position creates another natural way to use that technical profile.
