Halloween could bring some familiar faces back with a frightening new look. FC 27 Ultimate Scream is expected to arrive on October 23, with Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphinha and Jaap Stam among the players linked to the promotion. Here is what the campaign is about, who is being discussed and what to watch for when the cards arrive.
This preview covers rumours circulating online. The player images show predicted cards rather than confirmed ratings or attributes. This article will be updated on release day with the official squad, card details and campaign rules.
What Is Ultimate Scream in FC 27?
Ultimate Scream is Ultimate Team’s Halloween-themed promotion, known for spooky card designs and upgrades that can give familiar players a different feel on the pitch.
Its appeal goes beyond higher overall ratings. Previous editions have experimented with position changes, unusual attribute boosts and special upgrade mechanics, creating cards that offer something different from their regular versions. A midfielder might become more useful in a different area of the pitch, while a forward could receive a boost that changes how you build around them.
That makes Ultimate Scream different from Team of the Week, which rewards recent real-world performances, and Future Stars, which focuses on emerging talent. Scream is built around a Halloween theme and the possibilities of its special cards.
The exact FC 27 format still needs to be revealed, including whether the campaign brings back temporary boosts or introduces a different upgrade system.
When Does FC 27 Ultimate Scream Come Out?
FC 27 Ultimate Scream is expected to launch on Friday, October 23, 2026. Online reports point to the usual 6 p.m. UK content release, although EA has not officially confirmed the campaign’s exact launch schedule.
A second team is possible, but its release date and player selection have not been confirmed. The launch update will clarify the schedule and how long each squad remains available.
FC 27 Ultimate Scream Leaked Players
Eight players are currently being linked to Ultimate Scream in rumours circulating online. The list includes current stars and a potential special Hero version of Jaap Stam.
These are rumoured selections, not the official full squad. The positions below are those shown in the circulating artwork; final positions, ratings, attributes and PlayStyles may differ.
The rumours do not yet establish how every player would be released. Some could appear in packs, while others could arrive through separate campaign content. Being linked to the promotion does not automatically mean a player belongs to its opening pack squad.

How Did Ultimate Scream Upgrades Work in FC 26?
FC 26 tied Ultimate Scream upgrades to the full moon, combining permanent Player Role improvements with temporary attribute boosts. The two parts worked differently.
Permanent Full Moon Upgrades
The campaign had two scheduled upgrade stages:
These were calendar-based upgrades rather than rewards for a player scoring goals or their club winning matches. Once applied, the Role improvements remained on the card.
The first stage expanded Role+ options. The second went further by adding Role++ across the item’s main and alternate positions, giving players more tactical flexibility when using those eligible positions.
Temporary 99 Attribute Boosts
On each of those two full moon dates, eligible Ultimate Scream items also received 99 in one randomly selected face stat for seven days.
A face stat is one of the six main categories displayed on a card: PAC, SHO, PAS, DRI, DEF or PHY. This was a boost to one category—not an automatic 99 overall rating or a boost to all six categories.
For example, a temporary 99 PAC boost could make a card much more attractive for runs in behind during that window. That would not mean the player kept 99 PAC for the rest of the season.
When the seven-day boost ended, the temporary attribute effect expired, while the permanent Role upgrades remained. That distinction mattered when judging a card’s lasting usefulness: its performance during a boosted week did not necessarily reflect how it would play afterwards.
Did Evolution Cards Receive These Upgrades?
Ultimate Scream items created through Evolutions did not receive the Full Moon upgrades in FC 26. Having an Ultimate Scream design therefore did not automatically make an Evolution item eligible for the campaign’s moon-linked improvements.
Will FC 27 Use the Same System?
The rules above describe FC 26, including its 2025 upgrade dates. EA has not yet confirmed whether FC 27 will repeat the temporary 99 boosts, retain the same Role upgrades or introduce a different system.
The FC 27 release-day update will add the confirmed upgrade conditions, eligible items and schedule.
Will There Be Ultimate Scream SBCs and Objectives?
Previous Ultimate Scream campaigns have included SBCs, Objectives, Evolutions and themed events alongside the promotional cards. Similar content could give FC 27 players more ways to take part, but the exact challenges and rewards remain unconfirmed.
For now, it makes sense to keep some flexibility in your club rather than commit everything to one rumoured player. Once the campaign launches, compare any player SBC cost with available alternatives and check whether an Objective reward fills the same position.
The release-day update will add the confirmed squad, base-item comparisons, standout players and value picks once official attributes and market prices are available.
