Is Echoes of Aincrad Multiplayer?
No. Echoes of Aincrad does not support online multiplayer, local co-op, split-screen, PvP, or cross-platform play. You cannot invite friends, join another player’s game, create an online party, or use matchmaking.
This applies to every version of the game. Whether you play on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, or PC, the main adventure remains a solo experience.
What Replaces Co-op in Echoes of Aincrad?
Instead of teaming up with another player, you travel with an AI-controlled partner. Your companion fights alongside you during quests, dungeon exploration, and boss battles, making combat feel more coordinated than a completely solo system.
Different partners have their own weapons, combat roles, and support abilities. You can also adjust their equipment and strengthen their skills as you progress. During battle, your partner can draw enemy attention, provide support, and help activate combination attacks.
The system does not offer the same freedom as playing with a real friend, but it still allows you to build a small party and plan around different combat styles without going online.
Will Online Co-op Be Added Later?
Bandai Namco has not officially confirmed plans to add multiplayer or online co-op in a future update. There is currently no announced matchmaking mode, multiplayer roadmap, or release date for online features.
Future updates may add more story content, equipment, areas, or other gameplay features, but players should not expect multiplayer unless the developer makes a separate official announcement.
