Jumping into Genshin Impact 6.3’s new event, Moonlit Patrol Exercise, and just want the rewards without overthinking it? This guide gives you the “what matters” shortcuts—what to prioritize, and how to turn Wargame Points into steady Primogems without wasting time.
What kind of event is it?

Moonlit Patrol Exercise is a wargame / auto-battler style combat event set around a “simulation” format: you pick a Frontline Captain, draft combat units + stratagems, set your formation, and then the fight plays out as a simulated lineup battle. It’s less “sweaty hands” and more “big brain drafts + clean positioning.”
Eligibility:
- Adventure Rank 20+
- Finish Archon Quest Prologue: Act III — “Song of the Dragon and Freedom”
Event duration (server time):
- Feb 9, 2026 → Feb 23, 2026
How the gameplay works
Pick a Captain

You start each Wargame by choosing a Frontline Captain, and that pick basically locks in your run’s “build lane” — the Captain’s bonuses are meant to boost specific unit styles, so your drafts feel way smoother when your units actually match the Captain instead of going full chaos.
10 rounds, 4 losses
A run lasts up to 10 rounds, and you effectively have 4 lives: you can lose 4 rounds total, and once you’ve burned those losses, the run ends — so it’s less “one insane high roll” and more building something stable that can keep winning most rounds.
Draft, then set formation

Each round, you draft your combat units (and supporting stratagems) and then use the prep phase to set your lineup — that’s where you do the smart stuff like front/back placement and matchup countering before the game resolves the fight as a simulated Wargame.
Upgrade by duplicates
Your biggest power spikes come from upgrades: when you draw a unit with the same rank and type, it fuses into a higher-rank version, and you can upgrade a unit up to Rank 3 — which is why “two units that upgrade cleanly” usually beats “five units that never rank up.”
Banners (R2/6, R4/8)

Formation Banners are the big tempo swing: in Rounds 2 and 6, you get 1 chance each to draw a Formation Banner, and once equipped it buffs the units in that formation; then in Rounds 4 and 8, your equipped Banner(s) receive further enhancements.
Points, cap, Endless
Your run ends after 10 rounds or once you’ve lost 4 rounds, and you earn Wargame Points based on wins + overall performance; points have a cap that starts at 2,000, then increases starting on the 4th day of the event up to 4,000, and if you’ve won at least 7 rounds when the simulation ends, you enter Endless Wargame for extra challenge vibes.
Event Rewards
If you’re here for the loot (same), a full clear is listed as up to 420 Primogems—and most of that comes from the Wargame Point milestone track. The milestone ladder goes from 500 → 4000 points, and it hands out 50 Primogems per milestone, plus a chunky pile of upgrade resources along the way.
Here’s what the reward totals look like from the milestone track + task rewards: Mora ×240,000, Sanctifying Unction ×6, and three types of weapon ascension mats—Artful Device Replica ×4, Afterglow of Long Night Flint ×4, and Unyielding Delusion of the Far-North Scions ×4.
On top of that, the event’s Wargame Rewards tasks are basically your “play the mode normally” checklist, and each one gives Hero’s Wit ×2. There are 17 tasks shown (wins in a run, upgrading units to Rank 2/3, drawing Elite/Apex units, and leveling a unit to 30/60/70), so that’s Hero’s Wit ×34 total if you clear the whole list.

“Primogems Only” Speed-Run Method
1) Pick anything, only “upgradeable” picks matter
Once you start a Wargame, your Frontline Captain / Formation Banner / combat units can be basically random for this method. The only mini-rule: if you see units that can fuse/upgrade (duplicates → Rank up), grab those first, because upgrades can slightly help your “performance” scoring and it costs you zero extra brainpower.
2) Deploy one unit, then instantly throw the round
Each round, place only 1 “piece” (one combat unit) in your lineup, start the fight, then immediately tap the top-right menu and choose Abandon Wargame. After that, pick Continue Wargame so the run records the loss and pushes you into the next round. Do this on repeat to burn your lives fast.
3) Finish fast, repeat to cap
Because each run ends after 10 rounds or 4 losses, this “speed-lose” loop wraps up in about 2–3 minutes. Just chain runs like this until you hit the day’s Wargame Points cap.
Moonlit Patrol Exercise Best Win Route

Start your run by picking the Frontline Captain with “Call of Reinforcement.” The whole gameplan is to snowball a Human/Fatui-style board by committing early instead of drafting “a bit of everything.” In the early rounds, prioritize Fatui Skirmisher – Cryogunner Legionnaire and Oprichniki Thunderblitz Gvardiya, and keep taking duplicates so you can rank them up (and push levels when offered). Even if other picks look flashy, early consistency comes from getting your core units upgraded fast.

As the run goes later and the stronger pool shows up, shift your main pickups to Oprichniki Fireblade Shock Trooper and Oprichniki Hailstorm Cannoneer. If you see other Apex Units, they’re usually worth grabbing too—gold cards tend to have better raw stats/mechanics than “normal” units even at decent star levels—just don’t throw away your core upgrades to chase random golds.

For stratagems, go Human-faction-related first, then prioritize ones that reward kills (they turbo-charge your tempo), followed by ATK boosts, then effects that summon extra troops. Formation Banners aren’t a fixed tier list pick—choose them based on what your current lineup is missing (damage to close rounds, survivability if you’re getting rolled, or synergy if you’re already stable).
Conclusion
Once you’ve got a feel for your Captain lane, smart stratagem picks, and when banners actually swing a round, Moonlit Patrol Exercise becomes a clean, repeatable win route—grab your milestones, hit the cap, and log off happy. And if you’re lining up pulls right after, LDShop is an easy backup for budget-friendly Genshin Impact top-ups—quick checkout, smooth delivery, and more primos ready when the banner clock starts yelling at you.
