Honkai: Anima Nexus : New Character Skill Showcases & Kit Analysis

What’s up, everyone! If you’ve been sleeping on Honkai: Anima Nexus, now’s the time to wake up. The second closed beta is locked in for July 9th, sign-ups are live, and HoYoverse just dropped a bunch of actual skill demos for the playable characters.

Today LDShop breaks down every single one of those showcases, expanding on how the skills work, and giving you my first impressions.

BREADHEAD : The Transformative Baker

Breadhead is a 5-star Kardia currently exclusive to the tutorial in Beta 2, but don’t let that fool you ,his kit is wonderfully chaotic. His active ultimate is a precise two-part strike: pick an enemy Anima, and he delivers a rapid double-impact attack.

But his true personality shines through his Exclusive Principle, “Up You Grow!”. This passive comes in three flavors you can choose from before battle. Butterrific Butter rains bread down over the battlefield, transforming opponents hit into harmless loaves. Sweet Rain drops cakes that turn into Vulberries whose health decays but who pelt enemies with cakes. And Up You Grow! makes all your allied Anima grow giant, gaining a bundle of buffs. He’s not just a damage dealer , he’s a walking bakery of battlefield disruption.

 

NANAFEY :The Kindhearted Protector

Nanafey is a 4-star Kardia and the heart of Iia, an ordinary student who opens her home to you and is loved by everyone for her pure, innocent nature. In combat, her active skill is a life-saving targeted shield: select any allied Anima and she wraps them in a thick, durable barrier that absorbs a huge chunk of incoming damage for several seconds. It’s perfect for protecting a glass-cannon carry that’s about to get focused down.

Her Exclusive Principle, “Small-Town Girl”, activates at the start of battle and automatically buffs the allied Anima with the highest MP. That unit regenerates 3 Energy every 2 seconds and gains an 18% Magic DMG boost for the entire fight. This passive turns your strongest magic attacker into a relentless powerhouse, and combined with her targeted shield, Nanafey is a premier enabler for hyper-carry compositions.

 

OLYMPIA : The Syndicate’s Decisive Director

Olympia serves as the Acting Director of the True Nexus Syndicate’s Iia branch, described as decisive and efficient after swiftly reorganizing the local office. Her Anima companion is Noctumbra. On the battlefield, her active ultimate is all about widespread destruction: she unleashes a high-impact blast that strikes enemy Anima in chosen area at once. There’s no dodging, no positioning trick, the entire opposing board eats the damage.

While her Exclusive Principle hasn’t been detailed yet, her global AoE active already positions her as an ideal opener to soften the whole enemy team. Against summon-heavy swarms or boards that flood the grid, Olympia’s reach will absolutely punish wide formations.

 

KIANA :The Traveling Planestrider

A familiar face originally from Honkai Gakuen, Kiana is a 4-star Planestrider on a long journey. Her active skill is a straightforward but clutch single-target heal: pick any friendly Anima and she instantly restores a large chunk of its health, capable of pulling a key unit back from the brink.

Her Exclusive Principle, “Man’s Best Friend”, summons a Puddliking to the front line of your side right as battle begins. This loyal companion acts as an extra body to soak damage and assist in fights, effectively giving you a free tank. Kiana’s combination of emergency burst healing and a frontline summon provides incredible early-game stability and tempo.

 

HUNGRILLE : The Gluttonous Queen

Hungrille is a 5-star Kardia and the 68th Novarch, ruling the Plane of Satiation. Known as the gluttonous queen, her terrifying, insatiable hunger is legendary – whispers say no single plane can satisfy her appetite. Her Anima is Chowpownd. Her active skill triggers a restorative pulse that heals all of your deployed Anima at once, a massive sustain tool for longer, grindier battles.

Her Exclusive Principle, “Novarch Tea Party”, makes that sustain even more oppressive. At battle start, all allied Anima gain 12% Omnileech and regenerate 2 Energy every second, and these effects are boosted by 50% for Satiation-synergy Anima. She’s the ultimate engine for attrition-based comps, keeping your entire board topped off while accelerating ultimate rotations. Pair her with defensive synergies, and your team becomes an unkillable wall.

 

BLADE :The Immortal Swordsman Searching for Kafka

Blade needs little introduction to Honkai: Star Rail fans. In Nexus Anima, he is the 22nd Novarch and master of the Plane known as “The Peak.” Once the sworn guardian of Kafka, the Sovereign of Strength and Weakness, he now roams the planes in search of her after the Sundering. His Anima is the Bladehound. His active ultimate is the definition of a delete button: pick one enemy Anima, and Blade unleashes a massive, single-instance slash that deals absurd damage.

What makes him truly terrifying is his Exclusive Principle, “Ephemeral as Dew”. Once per battle, Blade will automatically protect the strongest allied unit. If that unit is defeated, 2 seconds later it revives with 35% of its Max Health, and upon revival it Stuns all opponents within 2 hexes for 1 second. This essentially gives your best Anima a second life while punishing the enemy team with an AoE stun. Blade isn’t just a finisher; he’s a comeback mechanic wrapped in a swordsman’s body.

 

BAI MEI :The Celebrity Novarch of Reality

Bai Mei is the 8th Novarch and the current Novarch of Reality, selected through the unique election mechanism of the Material Lip. She rules the Fuyu Continent and enjoys immense popularity as a shining celebrity across the Plane of Reality. Her Anima is Seroplumanth. Her active ultimate is a high-impact crowd control tool: target a specific zone on the battlefield, and she flash-freezes every enemy Anima inside it, rendering them completely incapacitated for a notable duration.

While her Exclusive Principle hasn’t been revealed yet, her freeze alone makes her a strategic powerhouse. Stop a charging bruiser, lock down an entire backline before they cast, or buy precious seconds for your team to wail on a helpless boss. Combine this with AoE damage dealers, and you’ve got a recipe for devastating wombo combos.

 

Final Thoughts

These deeper character reveals confirm that Beta 2 isn’t just about manual ultimates , it’s about the interplay between active skills and Exclusive Principles. You’ll be crafting teams not just around synergies, but around these passive engines. The depth here is real, and I’m absolutely here for it.
