Season 2 of Last War is not just a fresh map with a different look. It is a completely new set of rules. The emperor Boreas has frozen the whole area, closed all the sources of heat, and has lowered the temperatures to levels that will literally cease operations of your base if you are unprepared.
Season 2 brought in two new things, which you have to manage alongside three new buildings to get used to, and the temperature system you need to be more focused on, else it can hurt you, but also remember to keep all season 1 basic things to be remembered.
What Makes Season 2 Different from Season 1
The season runs for 48 days across a frozen polar region. The biggest rule change from Season 1 is how rankings work. Your alliance is scored on total Rare Soil accumulated throughout the entire season, not who holds territory at the end.
Every city and dig site you capture counts toward your score, even if you lose it later, so aggressive early expansion is far more valuable here than sitting back and holding a defensive position.
The other major change is survival. If your base temperature drops below -20°C, you cannot start rallies or use teleport. That alone should tell you how seriously the temperature system needs to be taken from day one.
Resources: Coal and Titanium Alloy
Two brand new resources drive everything in Season 2. Neither carries over from Season 1, so the playing field is level from the start.
Coal
Season 2 is made of coal. It is the fuel of the High-Heat Furnace that heats the base, and it is needed to construct and renovate the Titanium Alloy Factory. You run out of coal, and your furnace burns out, your factory halts, and your base begins to freeze.

The free sources are hunting-based. Daily first kill rewards from Doomsday Wanderers, Arctic Zombies by level, and Doomsday Elite Troops all drop coal. Get into the habit of hunting every single day from the moment the season opens. First captures of cities and dig sites also reward coal and titanium alloy, so early map movement pays off doubly.
Players who struggle to maintain enough coal for the furnace during storms sometimes use a Last War top up to secure extra resources and keep their base temperature stable during the early weeks of Arctic Storm. The best platform to make the top-up is LDShop, it lets players top up for less and it is a great way to save money.
One tip worth knowing before the season starts: if you have unclaimed Doom Walker kills saved from Season 1, hold off on claiming them until Season 2 begins. They give a bonus coal reward when claimed in the new season.
Titanium Alloy
Titanium Alloy is what you spend to upgrade the High-Heat Furnace and unlock military buildings. It comes from the Titanium Alloy Factory, which you need to build and upgrade using coal. Each factory level produces 720 titanium alloy per hour. One important thing to note: temperature has no effect on factory production. Your titanium output stays the same whether it is -6°C or -60°C outside.

New Buildings: What to Build and When
Titanium Alloy Factory
Build this on day one before anything else. You need titanium to upgrade the furnace, and you need the furnace to survive. Everything flows from this building.
The factory has a max level of 30, independent of your HQ level. Up to four factories are available normally, with a fifth unlocked through the Weekly Season Pass. Each new factory unlocks once the previous one hits level 15.
The intelligent upgrade route is to upgrade each factory as quickly as possible to level 15, then upgrade the next one, and once all four are upgraded, distribute them equally.

High-Heat Furnace
This is the most important building in Season 2. It burns coal to raise your base temperature and increase your Virus Resistance. Max level is 30, also independent of HQ level.
It has two operating modes. Normal mode burns a standard amount of coal per minute and keeps your temperature stable day to day. Overdrive mode burns four times as much coal but significantly raises your heat output. Overdrive is not something you leave running constantly. Use it during snowstorms and switch it off the moment the storm passes.
Stages 30 Military buildings unlock: Your base stat of soldiers increase 0.5% per level. Violet also becomes UR at level 30, so it is a long-term goal worth setting and planning to achieve from the start.

Alliance Furnace
This one belongs to your whole alliance. It heats a wide area around its position, and every alliance member within range benefits from it. R4 or R5 must deploy it on day one in Level 1 territory. It needs up to 20 reinforcements to activate and works the moment it is deployed with no delay.
Keep it running around the clock. In the early weeks before individual furnaces are strong enough, the Alliance Furnace is the main heat source, keeping your base temperature above the danger threshold. Members can donate coal to fuel it, and the alliance can boost its range and power through season tech research.

The Temperature System Explained
The map ranges from -15°C at the outer edges to -80°C near the Capitol at the center. The deeper your alliance pushes toward the Capitol for cities and Rare Soil, the colder it gets and the more heat you need to stay functional.
Drop below -20°C and you lose the ability to rally and teleport. Production slows, healing drops, and troop morale takes a hit. This is not a minor inconvenience. It can effectively shut your base down during the most important moments of the season.

Stacking Your Heat Sources
No single heat source is enough on its own as you push deeper into the map. The good news is that different sources stack together. Your High-Heat Furnace, the Alliance Furnace, captured cities, the Tower of Victory, and Intensive Overload research can all be combined.
Cities alone provide between 5°C and 60°C of warmth depending on their level, which is another reason capturing territory early matters beyond just the Rare Soil.
The lowest survival combination without an Alliance Furnace in the middle of a storm is Tower of Victory at level 3, which provides +5 o C, and Intensive Overload research, which provides +6 o C. They combine to ensure you maintain a temperature of -19 o C, keeping you below the -20 o C freezing point. It is not cozy, but it will get one through the crisis.
Surviving Snowstorms
Storms are announced hours in advance via a notification in the top left of your screen. When you see it, top up your coal reserves immediately, set your furnace to automatic ignition, and make sure your R4 or R5 lights the Alliance Furnace before the storm hits.
Switch to Overdrive during the storm, and the moment it ends, switch back to Normal mode. Do not leave Overdrive running after a storm, or you will burn through coal reserves faster than hunting can replace them.
Week 4 has a particularly tough moment where a storm hits at the same time as the Rare Earth War event. Plan your coal reserves around that week specifically.
What to Do on Day One
Build the Titanium Alloy Factory immediately using your starting coal. Make sure R4 or R5 deploys the Alliance Furnace before anything else at the alliance level. Start your daily hunting routine for free coal from the first day. Use your first city and dig site captures for the bonus coal and titanium alloy rewards. Get your furnace upgraded as fast as your titanium allows, and do not run Overdrive until you actually need it.
Conclusion
Season 2 is a slow burn that rewards players who get the foundations right in the first few days. Coal management, furnace upgrades, and alliance coordination are the three things that separate alliances that push deep into the map from those that freeze before they get there.
