Where to Fish

Where to Fish

First things first—you can’t just cast your line anywhere. Fishing is restricted to Fishing Grounds controlled by your Faction. If you tap on a Fishing Ground owned by your faction (even if it belongs to a different alliance within your faction), you’ll see the fishing icon pop up.

Here’s the secret that confuses a lot of players: The species of fish available depend on the Ground’s original faction and level, not who currently holds it. So, if you’re hunting for a specific fish to complete your Index, check the Fishing Ground’s details before you deploy.

The Mechanics: Bait, Timing, and Tapping

You’ll need Bait to fish, which you get from the daily Visitor. If you want the good stuff, use Golden Bait (available via Profession Specialization with a 23.5-hour cooldown).

When you cast, you’ll see a Casting Timing Bar. Here is the biggest takeaway: The timing bar only affects the fish’s weight, not the species. So if you miss the perfect zone, you’ll still catch that rare fish—it might just be a smaller one.

Once you hook a fish, hit the button during the brief countdown. Miss it, and the fish escapes. Keep your reflexes sharp!

Donation vs. Rankings: What Actually Matters

Donation vs. Rankings: What Actually Matters

Let’s talk strategy. You’re going to be donating fish to Faction Technology to earn Tech EXP and War Merit. Here’s the crucial part: Donation value is determined by the type of fish, not the weight.

That tiny 1kg Gold Fin Fish gives you the exact same Tech EXP as a massive 10kg one. So, if you just need to fill up your Alliance Tech, don’t stress about the timing bar. Just catch and donate.

However, if you’re competitive, weight does matter for the global Fish Rankings. The heavier the fish, the higher you climb on the leaderboard.

The Confiscation Mechanic

This is the spicy part. You can fish in Grounds held by other alliances, as long as they’re in your faction. But there is a risk: Confiscation.

If RNG isn't on your side, your catch gets confiscated. It won’t go into your Warehouse, but here’s the silver lining—it still counts toward your Fishing Index and Rankings. The confiscated fish turns into Alliance Energy for the occupying alliance.

Pro Tip: Invite your faction buddies to fish on your turf. If their catches get confiscated, you get free energy. It’s a win-win.

Final Tips for the Season

  • Don’t Sleep on the Index: There are 66 species to catch. Use the Fishing Index to track silhouettes and figure out which Faction Grounds you need to visit.
  • War Merit Farming: Donating fish is a low-effort way to stack War Merit daily. Even if you don't like fishing, do it for the pass rewards.
  • Location is Key: If you want heavy catches for the rankings, fish closer to the Central Area.

Get out there, bait your hook, and bring in that haul. Good luck, Survivors

FAQ: Last War Season 6 Fishing

Q1: Do I need to be in a specific alliance to fish?
No, you just need to be in the same faction as the alliance controlling the Fishing Ground. You can fish at any Fishing Ground owned by your faction, even if it belongs to a different alliance.

Q2: What happens if I fish in another alliance's Fishing Ground?
Your catch has a chance to be confiscated. Confiscated fish won't go to your Warehouse, but they still count toward your Fishing Index and global Rankings. The occupying alliance gets Alliance Energy from it.

Q3: Does fish weight affect donation rewards?
No. Only the type of fish matters for donation. A 1kg fish and a 10kg fish of the same species give exactly the same Tech EXP and War Merit.

Q4: How do I get Golden Bait?
You can get Golden Bait through Profession Specialization. It's an active skill with a 23.5-hour cooldown – use it daily so you never miss a free Golden Bait.

Q5: Why should I care about fish weight if it doesn't help donations?
Weight determines your position in the global Fish Rankings. If you're competitive and want to see your name on leaderboards, go for heavy catches near the Central Area.

Q6: How many fish species are there in total?
There are 66 species in total, grouped by clans like Wetland Clan, Deepwood Clan, and Great River Clan. Use the Fishing Index to track your progress.

Q7: Can I fish across different warzones?
Yes! You can fish at any Fishing Ground owned by your faction, regardless of which warzone it's in.

Q8: What's the fastest way to donate fish?
Use the Quick Donate button on the Donate Catch screen. It donates all eligible fish in one tap. Get into the habit of donating after each fishing session.

Q9: Does the Casting Timing Bar affect which species I catch?
No. The timing bar only affects the weight of the fish. The species is determined entirely by the Fishing Ground's original faction and level.

Q10: Is fishing worth my time if I'm not into rankings?
Absolutely. Donating fish earns you War Merit and Tech EXP, which help your Alliance and Faction progress. It's a low-effort daily activity that pays off over the season.
