In Last War: Survival, your troop tier defines your strength in the competition of the game. Most mid-to-late game players use Tier 9 (T9) troops, but the best troops are Tier 10 (T10), called Unit X, and represent the highest level of military power. The unlocking of T10 troops is more than an upgrade; it is a total transformation that your account is capable of doing.
However, getting them is not a simple task. It is a very long process that requires a lot of patience and effective resource management, as well as a very detailed plan for your technology tree. Let’s follow LDShop, as we will walk you through every single step in very simple terms that will help you reach the top.
The Foundation: Building Requirements
Before you can even think about T10 research, your base must be at the highest level possible. You cannot skip steps here; every building acts as a gatekeeper for the next stage of your power.
Headquarters Level 30
The first and most obvious step is reaching HQ Level 30. This is the current maximum level of the main building in your base. Reaching Level 30 is already a huge achievement on its own. It needs millions of units of Iron, Food, and Wood, and more importantly, it needs a huge amount of time. You must always work for the next HQ level. To speed things up, try to keep your builders busy 24/7 and only use your speedups during events that reward you for building power.

Tech Center Level 30
Once your HQ starts the upgrade to Level 30, your next priority must be the Tech Center. You can't unlock the final research nodes for T10 troops if your Tech Center is level 29. The Tech Center is literally where all your power is born. The moment the HQ finishes, it's time to immediately start the Tech Center upgrade.

The Barracks Level 30
The three types of troops are Tanks, Aircraft, and Missiles. To train T10 versions of these, the respective Barracks need to be Level 30. Most players usually focus on one type of unit first, usually tanks since they are the most balanced between offense and defense. As a Tank main, try to get your Tank Center to Level 30 as soon as possible.

The Research Wall: Special Forces
You cannot obtain the troops in T10 by leveling up; rather, you earn them through the Special Forces tree. This tree is where everyone fails because it needs a special resource called Valor Badges.
Mandatory Nodes:
To unlock the door to Unit X, one has to make it to the bottom of the Special Forces tree and max out the final four nodes to Level 10:
- Advanced Protection
- HP Boost III
- Attack Boost III
- Defense Boost III
The Valor Badge Economy
Valor Badges are blue hexagonal medals and represent the main time gate for T10s.
- The Source: Try to hit the 9th Chest in your Daily Alliance Duel (VS). This is the only means of accumulating badges in sufficient quantities.
- The Trap: Never ever spend Valor Badges on the "Intercity Truck" or "Hero" trees before unlocking your first Unit X. Those are luxury upgrades; Special Forces is one of necessity.

Mastering the Zombie Invasion (The Coin Goldmine)
The Zombie Invasion is the most critical event if you are chasing T10 troops. By applying the right strategy, you are able to get more than 1 billion coins from this event.
- Hoard Stamina: During off weeks, save all of your stamina packs. Do not use them until after the invasion has started.
- 95% Rule: Use around 95% of your stored stamina in this activity. It provides the highest return on investment in the game.
- Buy Extra Stamina: You should not hesitate to use diamonds to purchase the 300 and 500 diamond stamina packs during an event day.
- Focus on Rallies: Participate in every alliance rally possible. Defeating boss-level zombies and Doom Elites through rallies is the fastest way to trigger huge coin drops.
Solving the Gold Problem
Even with the Zombie Invasion, the final jump to T10 is very expensive. The Unit X nodes often run about 500M to 600M Gold each. This cost fluctuates based on your Recycling skill level and your Economy tech tree progress. If you find you're coming up short on resources, a Last War: Survival top up provides the extra boost needed to keep your research moving without delay. The best platform to make the top-up is LDShop, it lets players top up for less and it is a great way to save money.
Keep your Gold Refineries maxed and always boosted with the 24-hour production buff from the Diamond shop. Similarly, assign your best Legendary Survivors to these buildings to maximize hourly output.
That would include searching for "Dead Bases" or inactive players. Scouting these may reveal players holding hundreds of millions of gold with no one to defend it. Attacking these players is a legitimate late-game strategy to bridge the gap for a 500M Gold research project.
Best Profession for Faster T10 Research
The Engineer profession is the best choice if you're still in Season 1 and you haven't unlocked T10 troops yet. It greatly improves resource efficiency and reduces the time spent on research, really making the long grind for T10 much smoother.
You should focus on enhancing these key Engineer skills:
- Extra Meal – Provides more stamina, allowing you to attack bosses more and obtain more coins.
- Rapid Production – Offers bonus coins and resource gains based on your daily production.
- Cooperative Research & Research Now – Reduces research time and retains valuable tech speed-ups.
- Recycling: This reduces the coin and resource cost of research, which in turn assists you in making progress faster with the least waste.

Time Management and Speedups
The research of the final areas of the Special Forces tree may take 20 to 35 days for a single node.
Always begin a large research project without the Scientist or Scholar position. These are alliance-held positions and will decrease your research time from 10% to 15%. When working on a 30-day research project, it will save you almost 5 speedups.
You must never use these speedups randomly. You will use these during the "Tech Research" day during the Alliance Duel. In this manner, you will obtain the needed points for those 9th-level chests so that you will have more Valor Badges. It is really a continuous cycle of progression.
The Path to Unit X
In the Special Forces tree, you can see that you have a whole chain of research nodes. You have to upgrade such things as "Tank Defense," "Aircraft Attack," and "March Speed." Later on, you will finally end up at the bottom of the tree and see which specific nodes rest there:
- Unit X: Tank
- Unit X: Missile
- Unit X: Aircraft
You don't need to upgrade all three. Most players choose their strongest lineup, which is Tanks, and pour all their resources into one node. Once you click the button to Research Unit X, you'll be just a few days away from having the best army in your server.

Transitioning from T9 to T10
Once the research is finished, you must get these troops into your squads.
You already have hundreds of thousands of T9 troops. It would be a waste of resources to delete them and have to train T10s. Just use the promote button.
- Click on your Barracks.
- Select your T9 troops.
- Click the "Promote" arrow.
This will transform your T9s into T10s for a fraction of the time it would take to train them. This will be the quickest way for your three teams to be filled with T10 troops.

Staying Competitive During the Grind
As the time it takes to get to T10 is pretty lengthy, you may feel weak while waiting. This is how you can remain strong:
- Focus on Gear: While your research is running, work on your Hero Gear. It'll help you get your frontline heroes Murphy’s or Williams' armor to level 40, so you will survive against T10 players even if you are just T9s.
- Drone Components: Do not ignore your drone. A high-level drone provides massive buffs that can therefore fill the difference between levels.
- Alliance Support: Always ask for “Helps” when in an alliance. Every “Help” cuts your research time by 1%. In a 30-day research project, this saves a lot of time.
The Importance of the Secretary of Science Buff
In Last War: Survival, the alliance holding the Capitol controls the server's high-ranking official titles. One of the most critical positions to have for long-term growth is the Secretary of Science, most often colloquially referred to as the "Scientist" or "Scholar" buff.
Before you begin any serious research in the Special Forces tree-which is required to unlock Tier 10 troops-check your alliance's status. If your alliance does not currently hold the Presidency, make sure you are on good terms with the governing alliance so you can request the title.
Conclusion
Getting T10 troops in Last War: Survival is a long and tough journey. This is where casual players fall behind and serious players move ahead. Your goal must be clear: reach HQ 30, level up the Tech Center to Level 30, and complete the Special Forces research tree. Save stamina for Zombie Invasion to farm gold, keep only Valor Badges for Special Forces, and Alliance Help to save time. High costs, but T10 tanks make it totally worth it.
