Pokémon GO October 2026 Events Preview: Halloween, Zorua Community Day, Max Battles & More

October 2026 is packed with Pokémon GO events, from Harvest Festival and Zorua Community Day to Max Battles and the return of Halloween. Some events already have full details, while others are still waiting for their big reveal. Here’s a quick look at everything currently lined up for Pokémon GO this October.

The October schedule falls within the Twilight Trails Season, which runs from September 8 to December 1, 2026.

 

Harvest Festival: Applin Picking

September 29, 10:00 a.m. – October 5, 8:00 p.m. local time

October starts in the middle of Harvest Festival: Applin Picking, with Applin taking center stage.

The biggest addition is the Pokémon GO debut of Shiny Applin. Trainers will also have an increased chance of finding Shiny Smoliv during the event.

Apples are once again a major part of the event, but the mechanic has a new twist. During Harvest Festival, Mossy Lure Modules will only attract apples. Tapping these apples can award Tart Apples, Sweet Apples or Syrupy Apples, or trigger encounters with Pokémon such as flower-crown Cottonee and Applin.

There is also free Branching Timed Research with three paths based around Tart, Sweet and Syrupy Apples.

A dedicated GO Pass: Harvest Festival runs alongside the event. Reaching its major milestones unlocks bonuses such as a higher chance for caught Applin to hold evolution apples, one-hour Mossy Lure Modules, and extra Stardust from defeating Team GO Rocket Grunts and Leaders. A paid GO Pass Deluxe is also available.

The format builds on previous Harvest Festival events, which have frequently focused on Grass-type Pokémon, autumn-themed encounters and Applin's evolution items. This year's Shiny Applin debut makes the 2026 version particularly relevant for collectors.

 

Harvest Festival: Taken Over

October 2, 12:00 a.m. – October 5, 8:00 p.m. local time

The peaceful harvest does not last long. Team GO Rocket takes over the event from October 2, bringing one of the biggest prizes of the month: Shadow Zekrom.

By progressing through GO Pass: Harvest Festival, Trainers can receive a Super Rocket Radar, track down Giovanni and rescue Shadow Zekrom. Shadow Pokémon cannot currently be fused, so Shadow Zekrom cannot be used for Pokémon fusion.

Several new Shadow Pokémon are also joining Team GO Rocket lineups:

• Shadow Wimpod
• Shadow Fomantis
• Shadow Sandygast

The event also marks the Pokémon GO debut of Shiny Shroodle, which can be hatched if you're lucky, while Shiny Slugma receives an increased encounter chance.

As with other Team GO Rocket takeover events, Rocket Grunts and balloons will appear more frequently, and Trainers can use a Charged TM to remove Frustration from Shadow Pokémon during the event. Event Field Research will also award items including Fast TMs, Charged TMs and Mysterious Components.

If you have Shadow Pokémon waiting for a moveset upgrade, this is one of October's dates to remember.

 

Gigantamax Cinderace Max Battle Day

October 3, 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. local time

Cinderace gets a much bigger spotlight on October 3, when Gigantamax Cinderace takes over six-star Max Battles.

More importantly, this event introduces Shiny Gigantamax Cinderace to Pokémon GO for the first time.

During the three-hour event:

• All Power Spots will host Gigantamax Battles.
• Power Spots will refresh more frequently.
• Additional Power Spots will appear.
• Trainers can collect up to 1,600 Max Particles.
• Power Spots award 8× Max Particles.
• Up to three Special Trades can be made during the day.

Additional preparation bonuses run earlier on October 3, including 2× Max Particles from exploring and only one-quarter of the normal adventure distance needed to earn exploration-based Max Particles.

A US$4.99 event ticket provides Timed Research awarding a Max Mushroom, 25,000 XP and 6,400 Max Particles, plus 2× XP from Max Battles.

This follows the familiar Max Battle Day structure used for Pokémon such as Gigantamax Pikachu and Gigantamax Rillaboom earlier in 2026, so Trainers who have played those events will know the routine: build a team beforehand, stock Max Particles and find a group capable of handling a six-star battle.

 

Zorua Community Day

October 10, 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. local time

October's Community Day belongs to Zorua, and its unusual disguise mechanic should make this one feel a little different from the standard Community Day grind.

Zorua will appear more frequently in the wild, with both Shiny Zorua and Zorua featuring the annual Special Background available during the event.

Evolve Zorua during the event or up to four hours afterward to receive a Zoroark that knows Sucker Punch, a Dark-type Fast Attack.

The main bonuses include:

• 3× Catch XP
• 2× Catch Candy
• 2× chance of receiving Candy XL from catches for Trainers level 31+
• Three-hour Incense
• One-hour Lure Modules
• One additional Special Trade
• 50% less Stardust required for trades

Several of the trade and Lure bonuses continue until 9:00 p.m. local time.

There is also a particularly useful Lure mechanic this time around. Between 2:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., regular Lure Modules will have a very high chance of attracting Zorua, extending the hunt beyond the main three-hour Community Day window. Those Zorua can still benefit from the increased Shiny chance and may carry the Special Background.

A US$1.99 Special Research ticket will offer three Special Background Zorua encounters, additional Zorua encounters, a Premium Battle Pass, a Rare Candy XL and other rewards.

 

Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek

October 13–19

A second Marathon event is scheduled for October under the name Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek.

Full gameplay details have not been released yet, but the name points toward the Marathon event format introduced earlier this year.

The Spring Marathon in May 2026 ran for a full week and combined Pokémon debuts, Eggs, Field Research, free Timed Research and a dedicated GO Pass. That event introduced Flittle and Espathra, featured a marathon-visor Pikachu, offered a half Egg Hatch Distance milestone bonus and placed several Pokémon in 5 km Eggs.

That does not mean Buddy Trek will repeat those exact bonuses. For now, the useful takeaway is that Fall Marathon appears to be another week-long entry in the same event series, with its full Pokémon lineup, research and bonuses still to come.

 

October Hatch Day

October 17

October 17 is reserved for another Hatch Day.

The featured Pokémon has not been revealed yet, so there is not much reason to guess at the lineup. However, recent Hatch Days give us a good idea of how these events generally work.

For example, Fire and Ice Hatch Day in August 2026 featured Smoochum and Magby in 2 km Eggs, increased their Shiny hatch chances, cut Egg Hatch Distance in half, doubled Candy from hatching and increased the chance of receiving 2 km Eggs from PokéStops. It also included free Timed Research for an Incubator and XP.

October's featured Pokémon and bonuses could be different, but players who enjoy Shiny hunting through Eggs should keep October 17 open.

The date itself has been confirmed as part of the Twilight Trails event schedule.

 

October 24 Max Battle Day

October 24

Another Max Battle Day arrives one week later on October 24.

Only the date has been revealed so far. The featured Dynamax or Gigantamax Pokémon, event bonuses and any paid or free Timed Research have not yet been detailed.

Previous Max Battle Days in 2026 have generally concentrated a featured Pokémon at Power Spots while increasing Max Particle availability and offering bonuses designed to make repeated battles easier. Gigantamax Pikachu and Gigantamax Rillaboom, for example, both came with higher Max Particle limits, more active Power Spots and large Max Particle multipliers.

Expect the October 24 event to become much more interesting once its featured Pokémon is revealed.

 

Halloween 2026 Part I

October 27–31

Then comes the event many Trainers associate most closely with October: Pokémon GO Halloween.

The current calendar lists Halloween 2026 Part I from October 27 to October 31, followed immediately by Part II in November.

The 2026 Pokémon lineup, costumes, debuts, Shiny releases, Research and bonuses are not available yet, but previous Halloween events offer plenty of context.

Halloween 2025 Part I introduced Poltchageist and Sinistcha alongside Shiny Sinistea and also featured a Halloween GO Pass, spooky wild encounters, Field Research, Mega Energy rewards, special music and Halloween decorations across the in-game map.

That makes Halloween one of the biggest remaining question marks on October's calendar—and probably the announcement worth watching most closely.

 

Halloween 2026 Part II

November 1–5

Although it technically begins in November, Halloween 2026 Part II is the direct continuation of October's Halloween event, so it belongs in any October preview.

Last year's Part II shifted the focus toward additional costumed Pokémon, introducing witch-hat Teddiursa and its evolutions alongside headband Noibat and Noivern. It also added Halloween raids, Shadow Raids, Field Research, boosted Shiny opportunities and additional Mega Energy rewards.

That history does not confirm this year's Pokémon, but it does show why it is worth treating the two Halloween parts as one larger event rather than completely separate celebrations.

 

Super Mega Raid Day

October 31

Halloween itself also hosts a Super Mega Raid Day on October 31.

The headlining Pokémon has not been announced yet, but the event type is much more demanding than a normal Mega Raid Day.

Super Mega Raids were introduced in 2026 as exceptionally difficult Mega Raid battles designed around larger groups of Trainers. Pokémon GO recommends tackling them with at least eight Trainers, each bringing at least one Mega-Evolved Pokémon, although some bosses may require even more players.

Recent Super Mega Raid Days have also established a recognizable reward structure. Raichu Super Mega Raid Day, for example, offered up to six free Raid Passes, an increased Shiny chance and Mega Level 1 already unlocked for Pokémon caught from the featured Super Mega Raids.

With the October 31 boss still hidden, this is another event where the eventual Pokémon reveal will matter more than the date itself.

October 2026 Five-Star and Mega Raids

The regular raid rotation is also strong throughout October.

Weekend Shadow Raids also rotate during the month, with Shadow Incarnate Forme Landorus taking over after the early-October Shadow Thundurus period.

 

October Max Battle Rotation

The regular Dynamax rotation continues between the larger Max Battle Day events:
