Erangel Subzero: A Frozen Battleground

One of the biggest highlights of Version 4.7 is Erangel Subzero, a new environmental variation that transforms familiar parts of Erangel into a frozen battlefield.

The in-game story explains that several Tythonic satellites crash onto the island, releasing cryogenic gas that affects the local climate and the Blue Zone. Areas such as Stalber, Shelter, Sosnovka Military Base, and Boatyard are affected by the freezing conditions. Some bodies of water also freeze over, while parts of the Military Base bridge are damaged.

Dynamic Weather and Satellite Crashes

Erangel Subzero features four types of dynamic weather that can change during a match. Snowstorms are particularly important because they reduce visibility and slightly slow player movement. However, the initial landing phase and final playzone remain clear.

Satellite crashes add another layer of danger. Four satellite crash events can occur randomly during a match, with warnings appearing before impact. After a satellite lands, a small Blue Zone forms around the crash site. Players may find valuable supplies there, including the Thermal Protection Suit.

Snow piles also interact with the changing weather. Vehicles can destroy ordinary snow piles, but frozen snow piles become much harder to break. During snowstorms, destroyed snow piles can gradually regenerate.

New Items for Frozen Conditions

Several items are designed specifically for the new environment:

Thermal Protection Suit: Protects players from Blue Zone damage while its durability remains. It occupies the Ghillie Suit slot, so players cannot equip both at the same time.

BZ Grenade: Creates a temporary small Blue Zone that expands, remains active, and then gradually disappears. It can overlap with the map's existing Blue Zone.

Liquid Nitrogen Tank: Replaces the Molotov in this themed mode. It deals damage over time while spreading frost that slows affected enemies.
