Reverse:1999 Ulrich Ultimate Guide - Skill Kit And Abilities
General Introduction
Ulrich is a 6* Character of the Intellect Afflatus that specializes in redistributing and increasing the team’s Dynamo counter in order to quickly raise the level of Electric Field in order to boost the overall damage of other Dynamo-centric characters while also enabling his own ultimate damage to deal massive amounts of damage to enemies.

Ulrich Skill Kit
Ulrich skill kit revolves mainly around the game’s special Dynamo and Electric Field effect where players can convert Dynamo on characters through special means to turn them into points for the Electric Field gauge and increase the Electric field level, helping to boost the overall damage output of all allies on the field upon the field reaching high enough levels.
Ulrich does this by enabling himself with various powerful effects by using his 1st and 2nd skill and is able to convert large amount of Dynamo stacks on himself into Pulsing Fields and allow him to deal extra damage and gain additional skill effects based on the amount of Dynamo stacks that have been converted into Pulsing Fields.
Ulrich’s 1st skill allows him to grant himself the Structure Analysis status, granting himself increasing Ultimate damage up and converting Dynamo stacks into Pulsing Fields in addition to massively reducing the amount of damage he takes from enemies.
Ulrich’s 2nd skill allows him to grant himself the Frequency Analysis status, which functions somewhat similarly to his 1st skill’s status, but instead of granting him damage reduction buff, the unique status instead grants special Ultimate damage buff to all allies for 1 turn. This buff is extremely high at 30% at base and up to 70%.
Ulrich’s Ultimate can be used when his moxie fills up, allowing him to enter the special Hyper Analysis mode for 1 turn, extending the special effects granted by his 1st and 2nd skill by 1 additional turn and immediately generate 30 Dynamo stacks immediately and convert them into Pulsing Fields, hastening the Electric Field’s level increase and allowing all teammates to deal more damage. After the turn is up, Ulrich will unleash a powerful attack to all enemies, with the damage increasing proportional unique buff stack on himself.
Ulrich Playstyle
Ulrich's playstyle is relatively simple as he functions almost entirely as a sub DPS Ultimate damage dealer with his skill kit that doesn’t deal damage to enemies at all but instead allows him to stack massive amounts of buffs and grant all allies’ Ultimate damage up buff while enabling the Dynamo mechanic.
To play Ulrich properly, players will need to keep both of his 1st and 2nd skill’s unique status online as long as possible for him to stack as much unique buff as possible before unleashing his Ultimate while still in both stages to maximize his damage output. That being said, due to the fact that his skills doesn’t do any damage, the team needs to have an additional damage dealer to make up for the lost damage.
Best Psychubes & Resonances
Ulrich Best Psychubes
Ulrich’s best Psychubes options are ones that boost his Ultimate damage output as well as increasing his Critical stats like Critical Damage and Critical Rate. Additionally, Psychubes that take advantage of the Dynamo effect are also good considerations on Ulrich as he can utilize the effect very well.
As a sub DPS/ Support option that focuses on funneling Dynamo stacks, Ulrich can go either the pure damage path or the support build with different types of Psychubes.
The best Psychube option for a sub DPS Ulrich is surprisingly not his signature Psychube, but instead one of the other generic 6* Psychube in the game:
- On The Hand of Time
On The Hand of Time (6*) |
|
Main Stat: Critical Damage% (24%) |
|
Effect: When the carrier attacks, if the carrier is in a channel status, the attack gains Penetration Rate +14%. When the carrier performs an extra action, the carrier gains Critical DMG +6%, stacking up to 3 times, with 1 stack removed at the end of each round. |
Alternatively, some of the best Psychubes for Ulrich as a sub DPS character includes his signature Psychube and other such as:
- A Tingle of A Thought:

Ulrich Best Resonances
Similar to his Psychubes and overall stats, players should focus on building Ulrich with Resonances that boost his overall offensive capability with an emphasis on Critical Rate, Critical Damage, Ultimate Damage Up and Attack. Players should prioritize Critical Rate over Critical Damage due to Ulrich’s high Critical Damage skill kit, balancing output his need of Critical Rate.
The best Resonances for Ulrich includes:
- Pieces that boost his critical hit rate, critical Damage, Damage Bonus%, Ultimate Damage% and Attack stats, with a heavy emphasis on Ultimate Damage% and Critical Rate%
- The Most Important Resonance Piece for Ulrich is the Elucidation Piece, which grants him a massive amount of Critical stats as well as Ultimate Might boost, allowing Ulrich to fulfill his conditions and deal even more Ultimate damage as it is his only source of damage.
Portrays & Rolling Priorities
As with other characters in the game, the more copies you obtain from the gacha banner, the more Portray level you will be able to activate, up to the 5th portray level.
Ulrich Portrays Analysis
P1 - The First Rhythm:
Ulrich’s 1st Portray is a simple but effective Portray that boost his Decryption Key buff that can be granted by both his 1st and 2nd skills, with the buff increasing his Ultimate Might increase to 5.5% per stack and his Damage reduction increase to -5.5%, allowing Ulrich to not only deal more damage but also help boost his survivability further.
Rating: Extremely Recommend - A simply yet effective Portray level that increases in value the more stack of his unique buff he has, allowing Ulrich to gain a massive amount of Ultimate Might and Damage Reduction.
P2 - The Sum of Infinity
Ulrich’s 2nd portray level grants Ulrich a straight up damage increase to his Ultimate ability, with the damage modifier being increased from 600% to 900%, allowing him to deal damage more effectively.
Rating: Recommend - A decent Portray level that simply straight up boosts his Ultimate damage output by increasing the damage modifier, good for optimizing his damage output.
P3 - The First Rhythm
Natika’s 3rd portray level seems simple at first, with a simple boost to his damage modifiers when he uses his Ultimate during Electric Field level 3. However, since the damage boost is proportional to the amount of stacks he has, the slight damage modifier boost can massively increase his damage dealt.
Rating: Highly Recommend - An extremely strong effect that optimizes his damage output even more.
P4 - The First Rhythm
Ulrich’s 4th Portray level boosts his damage every turn when he is in an Electric field, allowing him to deal more end of turn damage the more Decryption Key effect stack he has.
Rating: Recommended - A generic buff to Ulrich’s overall damage output.
P5 - The Sum of Infinity
Finally, Ulrich’s 5th and final Portray level further boosts her Ultimate damage output potential by further increasing the damage modifier on his Ultimate from 900% to 1050%, allowing him to deal even more damage from his Ultimate when he activates it.
Rating: Highly Recommended - Another strong buff to Ulrich’s Ultimate damage output that can help him clears even the strongest of foes as a sub DPS character.
Portray Pulling Recommendation
As a sub DPS/ Support character for the Dynamo effect team, Ulrich’s own damage output can be relatively lenient, with the main DPS being able to carry the entire team with their own damage output. Therefore, increasing Ulrich’s Portray level is not really the priority in terms of investment and should only be considered once you have fully invested in a strong Main DPS option for the Dynamo team to run alongside Ulrich.
That being said, if players still want to invest in Ulrich’s Portray level, the best stopping point is his 2nd Portray level, which offers a good boost to his Ultimate damage output. Any Portray level beyond that should be considered extras.

Best Teammates & Team Compositions
Role In a Team
With a skill kit that focuses on enabling the entire team with quick and easy Dynamo stacks as well as keeping up the Electric Field as long as possible, Ulrich fits best in a Dynamo centric team comp.
Due to the nature of his relatively easy to use skill kit that still offers massive value in providing massive amounts of Dynamo stacks quickly, Ulrich fits best as the Sub DPS/ Support option for Dynamo team, supplementing the team with his powerful Ultimate damage.
Ulrich Best Teammates & Team Compositions
To complete a Dynamo team with the help of Ulrich, players will need to run him alongside at least 1 Main DPS character that takes full advantage of Dynamo and Electric Field as a whole, allowing them to deal more damage the more Dynamo stacks are granted from Ulrich. To boost the team’s damage further, 1 additional Sub DPS and 1 sustain character is recommended for the team comp, helping to finish off the enemies quickly while protecting the team.
The best teammates for Ulrich are:
- Lucy: Lucy is Ulrich’s best teammate and by far the best Main DPS option for Dynamo centric teams with her skill kit that takes full advantage of the Dynamo team’s various beneficial effects while also providing the team with Dynamo stacks herself. Lucy’s damage output is extremely high when there’s an Electric field on the field and the more Dynamo stacks there are, the more damage she deals, making her a perfect fit as a teammate for Ulrich as someone who can produce Dynamo stacks constantly.
- Charon: Another sub DPS character that should be run alongside Ulrich to fuel the Dynamo and Electric Field team even further thanks to his ability to constantly supply the team with Dynamo stacks. Additionally, Charon’s skill kit allow him to grants powerful buffs to allies, including damage bonus and the ability to convert critical rate into critical damage, allowing the Dynamo team to be able to take full advantage of all critical stats even if they overflow.
- Ezra: Ezra is the Dynamo team’s main sustain option, with her ability to constantly supply Dynamo stacks with her mushroom growing abilities and her strong ability to consume allies’ HP to grant them shields, helping to prolong the fight. It is highly recommended for players to get her to Euphoria level 2 in order to maximize her potential in a Dynamo centric team.
- Medicine Pocket: Medicine Pocket is a good alternative character that can be slotted in the Dynamo team alongside Ulrich if players do not have access to Ezra thanks to Medicine Pocket’s amazing AFK healing ability that is extremely AP friendly.
Conclusion
One of the best enabler for the Dynamo team mechanic and a completely free character at that, Ulrich is one of the more amazing 6* characters in Reverse:1999 that can help to shape the future Dynamo team meta around him. As such, we hope that with this guide, players will have been able to have a better overall understanding on how Ulrich functions and how to build the best Ulrich for the future end game contents in Reverse:1999.
