Grand Offensive Event

The "Grand Offensive" is not an entirely new mode, but this update introduces two core changes.

The biggest highlight is the new "Squadmate" system. While progressing through the event, the system deploys "Squadmate" characters and units to fight alongside you. These "Squadmates" are not just guests; they can grow through your event progress, increasing their rarity, level, weapon proficiency, and undergoing limit breaks.

This means that by the event's conclusion, you will acquire a mature unit already strengthened through war, not a blank slate that requires training from scratch.

From this event, players can obtain the SSR pilot "Yzak Joule" ,the SSR unit "Duel Gundam Assault Shroud," and the support personnel "Fllay Allster & Archangel."

Pilots & Units: Strategic Combinations

A new "Premium Unit Supply" capsule will be available concurrently, featuring the "Providence Gundam" and the "Kampfer" from Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket.

Providence Gundam

The Providence Gundam is anticipated to be a Support-type unit. Its distinguishing feature is an EX Skill that reduces enemy defense, with an initial reduction of 25%. It also possesses a special ability that "increases Attack by 15% when HP falls below 50%," similar to Sazabi's ability. Belonging to the SEED series with expected tags, it should perfectly align with this event's boost effects. However, as a Supporter, its offensive stats are typically limited, and actively lowering HP to trigger its passive carries some risk.

Its pilot, Rau Le Creuset, is a standard UR Supporter-type pilot with a faction Buff skill that increases the whole team's Attack and Defense based on the number of "ZAFT"-tagged units in the squad. Currently, however, powerful ZAFT-tagged units are relatively scarce in the game, so the full potential of this ability may depend on the future release of more relevant units.

Kampfer

Another highly anticipated unit is the Kampfer. Positioned as an Attack-type, its weapon design is quite distinctive: its MAP weapon (Map Attack) power increases with higher MP, potentially the first unit in the game with this mechanic. Its EX weapon follows the classic "the closer the range, the higher the damage" design.

Its pilot, Mikhail Kaminsky, has a very versatile skill set. His passive boosts his own Shot stat, and when piloting a Principality of Zeon unit, he gains additional damage increase and damage reduction. His active skill directly increases MP. If his base Shot stat proves to be high enough, he has the potential to become a powerful pilot for Zeon-based shooting units.

Player Preparation: Efficient Guide

Facing the imminent update and event, whether you're a new or veteran player, preparing in advance will make your campaign much more efficient. Here are a few strategies for your reference.

First is Team Composition. It is recommended to prioritize selecting units with tags that match the event's boost effects. Using units that satisfy the event's tag requirements will grant you significant advantages during the event.

Next is Resource Management. New players can focus on directly training the "Squadmate" units through the event, saving valuable enhancement and breakthrough materials.

Veteran players should pay attention to the "SSP Conversion System" scheduled for implementation in late December. This new system allows units that have already reached max SP Conversion level to undergo further breakthrough. Players with favorite units can start stockpiling the corresponding development and weapon enhancement materials in advance.

Future Outlook: Year-End & New Year Celebration Preview

This Grand Offensive is merely the prologue to the December updates. The official information has announced a live stream scheduled for late December, where they will unveil information about the next quarter's main story and participating works.

More importantly, the live stream is highly likely to formally announce details of the "Year-End & Beginning Special Campaign." Judging by the game's previous half-anniversary campaign, the scale of this New Year's (Japanese New Year) special event is something all players can look forward to.

It is foreseeable that in the upcoming New Year events, the officials are likely to maintain this momentum, bringing new limited units, characters, and a massive amount of login rewards.

This Grand Offensive's capsule lineup showcases the game's diversified combat design philosophy. The Providence Gundam, as a Supporter unit, plays an indispensable buffing role in a team, while the Kampfer demonstrates the tactical potential of Attacker-type units with its unique MAP weapon mechanic.

For players, the value of each depends on your current roster composition and combat style preference. If your team lacks powerful defense reduction and faction support, the Providence Gundam's team value is significant. If you need a pilot who can wield a special MAP weapon for Zeon shooting units, the combination of the Kampfer and pilot Mikhail Kaminsky is worth considering.
