SS Tier : The Holy Trinity of Early Game
Sea Mourn
If you can only build one damage-dealer on day one, make it Sea Mourn Her whole kit revolves around stacking “Soul Butterflies” every time an enemy dies, and those stacks persist between battles. Open-world mob clearing becomes a joke, and she stays relevant all the way through endgame. Pair her with the free protagonist or any single-target friend to cover that hole. She’s the safest SSR pick from the selector, full stop.

Molly (Agility – Single-Target & Assist DPS)
Molly deals hefty single-target damage and can grant an ally a buff that lets her follow up every time that ally attacks. Paired with Hatchet, you get an infinite chain of follow-up hits. Even outside that combo, she’s a reliable secondary damage dealer.

Isabella : Healer + Buffer
The only true hybrid support in the launch roster. Every third attack skill she uses applies a permanent “Prey” debuff on enemies , attacking a prey-marked foe heals your team. That’s passive, always-on sustain. Meanwhile, her active skill boosts a single ally’s damage scaling, and her ultimate is a party-wide heal with solid damage attached. She condenses healing and offensive buffing into one slot, freeing your team for more DPS. No other character does that as seamlessly. If you didn’t get her from the selector, pray she comes home early.

S Tier
The Iron Fist
He doesn’t just shield one ally; his ultimate throws a full-party shield and he has a built-in taunt with counter-attack chance. In the early game, having The Iron Fist on the field means your squishies almost never drop. He falls off only when you’re so overleveled that you’d rather bring a third buffer, but for the first two weeks, he’s a lifesaver.

Hatchet :Single-Target Follow-Up DPS
Think of his as your personal assassin. Hatchet tags enemies with a Rose Mark, and every hit on that target triggers a follow-up strike, stacking a damage boost for her ultimate. At six stacks, you unleash a boss-melting burst. And if a marked enemy dies? He gets a free, unlimited follow-up that can chain into another kill, and another. The downside is clear: no area damage. But partnered with Sea Burial or R.S., you have the perfect one-two punch. If you already have AoE covered, Hatchet is your go-to boss slayer.
Haig (Intellect – DOT Explosion DPS)
Haig detonates all damage-over-time effects on an enemy for massive burst. If you’re running R.S. or any burn/bleed setup, Haig elevates the team’s damage ceiling to absurd levels. Without DOT partners, though, he’s just average – hence S rather than SS.

R.S.
Given to you for free during the story, R.S. stacks burn DOTs with her skill and spreads them with her ultimate. She’s the ignition key for any damage-over-time team, especially when paired with Haig. Her being free and strong puts her firmly in S.

A Tier
Scorched Colonel :Self-Harm Burst DPS
The riskiest reward in the game. His skill drains his own HP for a huge damage boost, and his passive makes him deal more damage the lower his health gets. Below 30%, he gets a three-turn death immunity, during which his ultimate hits like a freight train. The problem: he demands a dedicated shield support (The Iron Fist or Coward) and can’t take a hit once that immunity ends. Not beginner-friendly, but devastating in the right hands.

The Stray Cat: Debuff/Sub DPS
A walking vulnerability dispenser. Its passive follow-up attacks apply “Claw Marks”, increasing the damage an enemy takes when stacked with other debuffs. It’s the missing piece of the ultimate pursuit team (Molly + Hatchet + The Stray Cat). Outside that setup, though, its personal damage is low, and it occupies a slot that could go to a buffer.

Watchmaker: Stacking Burst
Layers stacks on enemies and then cashes them in for multiplicative damage. Excels against high-HP, sturdy targets. He needs time to ramp, so he struggles in quick fights. A strong choice if you already have a balanced core and want a dedicated boss-killer.

Hullmaster
His whole kit is about shredding enemy defense and boosting team damage. He’s a force multiplier, not a carry. In the early game, you’ll often prefer a more self-sufficient unit, but later on, his value skyrockets.
The Prescient Eye
A superb budget alternative to Isabella. He heals, buffs attack, and can even restore energy. If your SSR luck was rotten, build The Prescient Eye guilt-free – he’ll carry your sustain needs until you land Isabella.

Voyager
Your starter hero is no slouch. Solid single-target and respectable AoE, plus easy to max out. They’ll anchor your team until you pull a specialized SSR carry. Never abandon them too early.
