NBA 2K27 Editions: Quick Verdict

Standard Edition: Best for casual players, MyNBA fans, and anyone who mainly wants the full game without paying for extra VC or Early Access.

Deluxe Edition: Best overall for regular MyCAREER and MyTEAM players. The jump to $99.99 gets you 100,000 VC, starter bonuses, and up to seven days of Early Access.

Ultra Edition: Best for dedicated players who expect to stay active across multiple Seasons. It adds more VC, four Pro Pass entitlements across the year, and two future high-end MyTEAM cards—but costs another $50 over Deluxe.

Official US pricing is $69.99, $99.99, and $149.99 respectively. Deluxe and Ultra unlock on August 28 at 9:00 AM PT, while Standard access begins September 4.

The first thing worth noticing is that Ultra does not give you more Early Access than Deluxe. Both start on the same day. That extra $50 is entirely about additional VC, Season Passes, cosmetics, and long-term MyTEAM rewards.

NBA 2K27 Standard Edition

The Standard Edition costs $69.99 and features Victor Wembanyama on the cover. It launches on September 4 and includes the complete base game.

There is no bundled 100K VC, no seven-day head start, and no pile of MyCAREER or MyTEAM starter rewards. That sounds bare next to the premium editions, but for plenty of players, that is exactly the point.

If you mainly play MyNBA, Play Now, or other modes where premium starter content is not your priority, paying another $30 or $80 is difficult to justify. You are not buying a smaller game with Standard; you are mostly skipping the head start and progression extras.

Pre-order it before launch and you still receive 10,000 VC, so Standard is not completely empty-handed either.

It is also the only NBA 2K27 edition currently listed for Nintendo Switch 2, where pre-orders are physical only.

 

NBA 2K27 Deluxe Edition

The Deluxe Edition costs $99.99, making it a $30 upgrade over Standard. Caitlin Clark headlines the cover.

For a regular MyCAREER player, 100,000 VC is the headline here. VC can be used on MyPLAYER attributes, apparel, animations, and other in-game content, so having a large balance on day one is much more relevant to that mode than a cosmetic-heavy bonus bundle would be.

For MyTEAM players, Early Access also matters. You get a week to learn the new systems, start building your collection, and get comfortable before Standard Edition players arrive.

For me, this is the easiest premium edition to recommend. The $30 jump has an obvious purpose without asking you to commit to content that will not arrive until next year.

 

NBA 2K27 Ultra Edition

The Ultra Edition costs $149.99, features Derrick Rose, and is only available through September 6, 2026. Like Deluxe, it is digital only on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.

Ultra includes the Deluxe content, but increases the included VC to 135,000 and adds:

• Season 1 Pro Pass
• Pro Passes for Seasons 7, 8, and 9
• Roses Oversize Hoodie for MyCAREER
• Guaranteed 98 OVR MyTEAM card available in December 2026
• Guaranteed Invincible MyTEAM card available in May 2027

The two future MyTEAM cards are redeemed through The Exchange rather than simply serving as launch-day starter cards.

The Season Passes are where Ultra gets interesting. A Pro Pass is officially listed at $9.99 per Season, so the four included passes represent meaningful value if you were already planning to buy them separately.

But notice the strange gap: you receive Season 1, then Seasons 7–9. Seasons 2 through 6 are not included.

That makes Ultra very dependent on how long you expect to play. A Season 8 Pro Pass has zero practical value to you if NBA 2K27 has already left your rotation by then. The same goes for a guaranteed Invincible card arriving in May 2027.

 

NBA 2K27 Deluxe vs Ultra: Is the Extra $50 Worth It?

This is the comparison that really matters for committed players.

Going from Deluxe at $99.99 to Ultra at $149.99 adds 35,000 VC, four Pro Passes, the Roses Hoodie, and two future premium MyTEAM cards. It does not add another week of Early Access.

If you are a heavy MyTEAM player who normally buys Season Passes and expects to still be playing next spring, Ultra has a reasonable argument.

If your priority is simply starting MyCAREER early with plenty of VC, Deluxe already handles that job. Paying another $50 mainly buys long-term extras rather than a substantially stronger launch package.

There is one nice wrinkle for returning players: NBA 2K26 players can receive a 10% loyalty discount on the NBA 2K27 Ultra Edition when pre-ordering on the same eligible platform. 2K lists that offer through September 3.

That makes Ultra easier to swallow for returning players, but I still would not choose it purely because it is the “best” edition on paper.

 

How Does NBA 2K27 Compare to NBA 2K26?

If this edition structure feels familiar, there is a reason.

NBA 2K26's $99.99 Superstar Edition also included 100,000 VC and seven-day Early Access, while the $149.99 Leave No Doubt Edition included 135,000 VC, Season 1 Pro Pass, Seasons 7–9 Pro Passes, and future premium MyTEAM rewards.

NBA 2K27 essentially keeps that three-tier philosophy but renames Superstar to Deluxe and Leave No Doubt to Ultra.

The top-end MyTEAM rewards have changed slightly: 2K26 promised a Galaxy Opal in December 2025 and an Invincible card in May 2026, while 2K27 Ultra promises a guaranteed 98 OVR card in December 2026 and an Invincible card in May 2027.

So if you bought a premium NBA 2K26 edition, there should be very few surprises here. This is more refinement than reinvention.
