NBA 2K27 officially launches worldwide on September 4, 2026, with Deluxe and Ultra Edition players able to start up to seven days early from August 28 at 9:00 AM PT. This year also leaves PS4 and Xbox One behind, making the platform lineup noticeably different from NBA 2K26.
If you are planning around Early Access, regional unlock times, or simply want to know the important dates before tip-off, here is the full NBA 2K27 release schedule and everything worth keeping on your calendar.

NBA 2K27 pre-orders went live with the official July 22 announcement. The August 17 deadline applies specifically to the extra limited-time bonus offered with qualifying digital Deluxe and Ultra Edition purchases—it does not mean all NBA 2K27 pre-orders end on that date. Standard pre-order bonuses remain available for purchases made before September 4.
The Ultra Edition is also a limited-time release and is currently scheduled to remain available through September 6.
NBA 2K Release Date History
NBA 2K has settled into a very predictable early-September launch window. In fact, the main release date has gradually moved earlier over the last few years.

*NBA 2K21's September 4 date refers to its current-generation launch. Its PS5 and Xbox Series versions arrived later as launch titles for those consoles.
From NBA 2K22 onward, the pattern is especially easy to spot: September 10, September 9, September 8, September 6, September 5, and now September 4.
So NBA 2K27 is not breaking tradition—it is just pushing the series slightly closer to the beginning of September.
Personally, I like this timing. It leaves a comfortable gap before the real NBA regular season gets going, which means plenty of time to make a MyPLAYER, discover one tiny thing you hate about the build, and immediately start over.

Which NBA 2K27 Editions Include Early Access?
NBA 2K27 has three main editions:
|
Standard Edition |
Deluxe Edition |
Ultra Edition |
The Standard Edition does not include Early Access. Pre-ordering either the Deluxe Edition or Ultra Edition gives you up to seven days of Early Access beginning August 28. Both premium editions unlock at the same time, so buying Ultra does not get you onto the court any earlier than Deluxe.
That is similar to NBA 2K26, which also offered a seven-day head start with selected premium editions. NBA 2K25 was noticeably different: eligible pre-orders received only up to two days of Early Tip-Off access.
For players who care mainly about getting in early, Deluxe already covers the important part. Ultra adds more bonus content rather than extra Early Access time.
There is also an important Switch 2 difference. 2K Support currently lists only a physical Standard Edition for Nintendo Switch 2, while Deluxe and Ultra are available digitally on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. That means there is currently no announced Early Access route for Switch 2 players.
What Platforms Is NBA 2K27 On?
NBA 2K27 launches on:
|
PlayStation 5 |
Xbox Series X|S |
PC via Steam |
Nintendo Switch 2 |
Unlike NBA 2K26, there are no announced PS4, Xbox One, or original Nintendo Switch versions this year. NBA 2K26 still launched across both console generations as well as Switch and Switch 2, making 2K27's platform lineup a noticeable break from the previous game.
For me, this is actually more interesting than the September 4 date itself. NBA 2K has spent years supporting older and newer console generations simultaneously. NBA 2K27 finally concentrates its launch on the newer hardware lineup.
Crossplay is confirmed between PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. 2K also says the MyTEAM Auction House will share listings across PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch 2, while PC uses its own marketplace.
When Is the NBA 2K27 Game Reveal?

The next major date is August 18 at 10:00 AM PT, when 2K will host the Preseason Breakdown: NBA 2K27 Game Reveal.
2K describes it as a franchise-first event that will bring the major NBA 2K27 game news together in a single day, including a deeper look at this year's innovations, features, and gameplay improvements.
That makes August 18 the date to watch if you already know when NBA 2K27 launches but are still deciding whether this year's changes are enough to make you jump in.
What Is New in NBA 2K27?

The full reveal is still coming, but 2K has already shown a handful of changes.
The early gameplay preview highlights improved AI defensive shot contests and positioning, a fully dynamic Dunk Meter that reacts to defensive pressure throughout an attempt, and a MyPLAYER Builder expanded from 40 to 53 total Badges, including 19 new ones. Cap Breakers can also be previewed directly inside the Builder.
Elsewhere, MyTEAM is getting a unified Auction House across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2; The City keeps its centralized layout but moves to a nighttime aesthetic; and Rucker Park has been recreated for MyCAREER and Street Kings.
Those are promising changes, but this is still a release-date guide, so we'll leave the full gameplay, MyCAREER, MyTEAM, and MyNBA breakdowns for their own deep dives after the August 18 reveal.
NBA 2K27 Release Date FAQ
Conclusion
NBA 2K27 hits the court on September 4, while Deluxe and Ultra Edition players can start their season from August 28 at 9:00 AM PT. With last-gen consoles finally dropped and the full Game Reveal still ahead, there is a little more to watch before launch—but the most important dates are already locked in.
Once you know which edition and start time work for you, all that is left is getting ready for tip-off. If you're planning to pick up the game on PC, you can also buy NBA 2K27 at LDShop and get everything sorted before launch day—then spend your first hour on the court instead of staring at the store page.
