You can grind for days and still fall behind—or you can progress efficiently and stay ahead of the curve. The difference in Sword x Staff isn't about how much you play, but how smart you use its systems.A few small shifts in your early routine can double your effective power before the first week ends. 

 

 

Class Choice: Experiment Early, Specialize Later

Many players make their first mistake before they even start fighting. They pick one class and stick with it forever. But Sword x Staff lets you switch classes at any time with no penalty. That changes everything for early progression.

Instead of committing, treat the first few days as a testing ground. Try damage-focused setups, support roles, and hybrid mixes. Feel how each plays in different fights. Once you understand what suits you, slowly move toward a more focused build. This approach prevents regret and wasted resources later. 

 

Skills Are Everything: Synergy > Random Power

Active and passive skills form the real backbone of your build. Picking the strongest skill in isolation won’t carry you far. What matters is how your skills work together.

• For AoE farming → combine multi-target active skills with passives that amplify area damage.
• For boss fights → prioritize single-target damage, armor break, and burst potential.

A well-synergized build will always outperform a random pile of high-ranked abilities. That includes rarity. Skills come in Rare, Epic, and Legendary tiers, but a well-matched set of Epic skills will beat a mismatched set of Legendaries every time. Don’t chase gold borders just because they’re gold. 

A focused build is always better than a mixed one. If you try to do everything, you end up average at everything. Commit to one role and build around it properly. That means picking 4 active skills and 4 passives that directly support each other — not leveling everything you unlock. 

 

Gear: Stats Over Rarity

Rarity is a trap. You can own a legendary item that does less for you than an epic one—simply because the epic has the right stats for your build.

Focus on these first, in order:

• Crit chance
• Speed
• Direct synergy with your active skills

Ignore the color of the border. Look at the numbers and sub-stats. That’s where real power lives. 

Multiple Loadouts for Different Fights

That same logic applies across content types. You shouldn't wear the same gear for farming and bossing.

Prepare 2–3 different gear setups. One for farming (AoE focus, more speed), one for bosses (single-target damage, armor break), and one for PvP or challenge modes. Swapping between them takes seconds and doubles your effectiveness in each scenario.

Example priority per loadout:

Progression Efficiency: Use Every System

Log in roughly every 8–12 hours to collect idle rewards. Your AFK income is tied to how far you've pushed the main quest — further zones mean better rewards per hour. Reinvest those resources into long-term upgrades, not short-term gains.

Exploration

This isn’t just for completionists. Exploration gives premium currency, upgrade materials, and hidden rewards. Each new zone you clear often unlocks a small permanent boost to your account. More exploration = more resources = stronger builds.

Repeatable Content

Daily dungeons and co-op activities offer consistent rewards. They’re among the most time-efficient things you can do. Don't grind them for hours, but don't skip them either — five minutes a day adds up.

Main Quest Comes First

Before anything else, push the main quest as far as you can. It unlocks new systems, gives the best one-time rewards (gear, currency, XP), and raises your AFK income cap. Every side activity should wait until you're hard-stuck on the main quest.

A simple rule: stuck on a boss? Spend 10 minutes optimizing skills and gear. Still stuck? Go explore a few nodes, then try again. Don't grind repeatable content before you've exhausted your main quest progression.

Combine all four. If you only fight and never explore, or grind dailies without pushing story, you’ll fall behind without realizing it.

 

Resource Management: Don’t Overspend Early

Early game temptation is real. You get resources, you spend them. That’s a mistake. In your first week, you can earn roughly 500–650 star stones from main quests, exploration, and events — about 25–35 pulls on the skill gacha. Here’s how to spend them wisely: 

• Pull on the skill banner only for the first week. Skills directly define your build’s power. The relic gacha can wait — relics matter later.

The game has a pity system on skill pulls. You never need to reroll. Just play normally.

• Don’t level every skill you unlock. Pick the 4 active and 4 passive skills that work together as a focused build. Same for upgrade materials: save until you’ve decided on a clear role (AoE farming or boss bursting).

Waste early, and you’ll grind twice as hard to catch up.

Join a Guild Early

Even if you’re a casual player, join a guild on day one or two. Guilds give you access to:

• Bonus rewards
• Group content you can’t run solo
• Faster overall progression

There’s no downside. Just being part of an active guild accelerates your account more than most players expect.
