Gowther Overview

Gowther's Wand path excels at single-target burst damage, with devastating Charged Arrow and Ultimate damage when Lightning Burst is active; it can also reduce enemies' Lightning Defense and quickly build up the Burst Gauge for a self-sustaining damage rotation. However, it is heavily reliant on allies to trigger Lightning Burst, and lacks any survivability or crowd control abilities on its own, requiring team protection and favorable conditions to deal damage.

Grimoire offers excellent area splash damage and combines grouping, Defense reduction, and Shutdown damage amplification into a well-rounded support kit; its passive can stack up to +25% Attack for the entire team, which is highly valuable. However, Link is restricted by a 30m range and breaks if enemies move too far away; its own damage multipliers are relatively low and it relies on allies to trigger the Link chain effect, making it unsuitable as a main damage dealer.

Staff is the ultimate dedicated support for Lightning teams, providing consistent and stable bonuses including Pierce, Lightning Damage, Resistance reduction, and extended buff duration. However, its buffs only apply to Lightning-attribute heroes, making it highly restrictive in team composition and lacking versatility; outside of a Lightning team, its value drops significantly.

Lightning Burst Efficiency Increase > Attack Increase > Defense Increase > Crit Chance

All of Wand Gowther's damage mechanics (passive Attack stacking, Charged Arrow's +100% Crit Damage, and Ultimate's bonus damage) rely on Lightning Burst—it's the engine of his entire output. All skill multipliers scale with Attack, and the passive's 3000 cap also depends on Attack. Defense is needed because he's a melee character with no survivability skills and needs to stay on the field. Crit Damage is already covered by the Lightning Burst mechanic, so ensuring Burst uptime takes priority over stacking Crit Rate.

The effect increases Lightning Burst Efficiency. When Lightning Burst is triggered, it increases all allied heroes' Lightning Damage, and boosts Special Attack damage against enemies with reduced Lightning Defense. So once you apply the debuff, your Special Attack hits significantly harder. This design fits perfectly with Gowther's role as a Burst Support. He also has respectable damage output of his own, which is worth mentioning.

 

Black Flame Wings Staff

This staff's passive—"Activating a Burst increases Attack and Crit Rate"—is practically tailor-made for Wand Gowther. Every single one of his damage windows is tied to Lightning Burst, meaning he can essentially maintain full uptime on the 40% Attack and 15% Crit Rate buff. Combined with top-tier base Attack and Crit Damage substats, this staff serves as a solid budget alternative to his signature weapon.

Gowther (Wand) fits best on Lightning Teams as the Burst finisher—Merlin sets up Lightning Burst as the main DPS, while Daisy (Grimoire) boosts the party's Crit Damage, allowing Gowther to land massively amplified Charged Arrow and Ultimate damage during Burst windows.

• Attack: Link's splash damage = 100% × Gowther's Attack; the entire team's Link damage relies on it.
• Skill Cooldown: Ultimate costs 5 orbs with a long CD; reducing CD improves control and Defense debuff uptime.
• Survival: Needs to stay on the field to cast skills; Link has a 30m range limit, so can't stray too far from enemies.

Although the substats aren't perfect, the combination of high Attack and strong passives is already enough to make both solid choices for Grimoire Gowther.

He amplifies ally damage through the Link effect—damaging one linked enemy also hurts all other linked targets within range. Meliodas serves as the ideal DPS here, as his high single-target damage spreads across linked enemies for massive total output.

Attack > Skill Cooldown > Defense/HP

• Attack: Passive Pierce conversion = 0.3% × Attack; stacking Attack directly boosts the whole team's Pierce.
• Skill Cooldown: Both Charge and Resistance debuff last only 30 seconds; need frequent refreshes to maintain coverage.
• Survival: Support needs to stay alive to keep buffs active, but positioned more safely so it's lowest priority.

Staff Gowther's most important job is "stack Attack → convert it into team-wide Pierce." These two staves offer the highest base Attack in the game + powerful Attack-boosting passives (one through stacking, one through Burst synergy). Although the substats and passive effects aren't completely perfect, the overwhelming advantage in Attack stats is more than enough to compensate. In the absence of perfect-stat weapons, these two are the best Attack-stacking choices for Staff Gowther.
