Best Merlin Build

For general players, I would start with Grimoire Merlin first. Wand Merlin is the best pick if you want fast Lightning damage and a more active skill-spam playstyle. Cold Damage and Magical Attack Increase are the safest core stats because this route is all about boosting her Cold output. Crit Damage and Tag Skill Damage matter a lot because her strongest payoff comes after Frost Mark is fully stacked. Normal Skill Damage is useful too, but I would not put it above her Tag Skill payoff.

Black Flame Wings Grimoire is the second recommendation. It is a strong universal DPS Grimoire because its Burst-triggered Attack and Crit Chance boost works well on damage dealers. If you do not have Gluttonous Soul Grimoire ready, Black Flame Wings Grimoire is the cleanest premium fallback.

This is the Cold team I would recommend for Grimoire Merlin. Jericho gives the team strong Cold Burst pressure, Mannie helps maintain Cold damage output, and Clotho brings extra Cold-side support and damage amplification. Merlin then acts as the main Frost Mark engine, building stacks and turning that setup into big Tag Skill damage.

The reason this team works is simple: everyone supports the same Cold damage plan. You are not forcing Merlin into a random mixed-element lineup. You are giving her teammates who help her freeze, burst, and punish enemies during Cold damage windows.

 

Wand Merlin Build

Wand Merlin is a Lightning Attacker built around Overload, Vulnerable, and repeated Normal Skill casts. This route feels faster than Grimoire because the goal is not one big Tag Skill payoff. Instead, you want to keep reducing Normal Skill cooldown and use it as often as possible to deal high Lightning damage.

For Wand Merlin, I would prioritize:

Lightning Damage and Magical Attack Increase are the foundation. Normal Skill Damage is extremely important here because Wand Merlin’s gameplay directly rewards frequent Normal Skill use. Crit stats come next to make her damage spikes feel better once the loop starts rolling.

Black Flame Wings Wand is the best premium option I would start with. Its Attack and Crit Chance boost after Burst gives Wand Merlin a strong offensive window, and the Crit Damage stat fits her Lightning DPS role well.

This team gives Wand Merlin the kind of support she wants: Lightning pressure, crit support, and more stable damage windows. Gilthunder helps keep the team focused around Lightning damage, Drake adds strong offensive support, and Daisy helps push crit-related value and overall damage consistency.

Wand Merlin wants to cast Normal Skill again and again, so her team should help her stay aggressive instead of slowing the rotation down. Daisy and Drake are especially valuable here because they make Merlin’s repeated Lightning hits feel much more rewarding.

 

Staff Merlin Build

Staff Merlin is her Fire Burster route, and this is the build I would use when I want the biggest burst window. Her Special Attack creates a decoy that taunts enemies, and her Normal Skills help build Burst Gauge based on Attack Power. For Wand Merlin, focus on Lightning damage, Overload, Vulnerable, Normal Skill cooldown, and Normal Skill damage. This build lives or dies by how often she can fire off her Normal Skill, so cooldown and skill damage upgrades should feel great.

For Staff Merlin, prioritize Burst Gauge gain, Ultimate Move damage, Fire damage, and decoy-related upgrades. The better she can set up Burst, the stronger this route becomes.
