Gear System Overview

The gears in Tiles Survive is of 3 different types:

  1. Hero Gear: This is the most basic equipment layer. This category consists of gear like helmet, vest, etc. Each hero has 3 slots and each gear in the slots can contribute to your hero’s key stats like attack, defense and health.
  2. Chief Gear: This type of gear is not specific to any hero. It gives a power boost that can help your whole account. You can unlock the Chief Gear in the 3rd or 4th week and after that you can unlock higher tier gear and stat bonuses.
  3. Signature Gear: This is the most exclusive type of gear. This type of gear is connected to specific SSR heroes. They are powerful and can boost your stats by a lot. But you will need special fragments or tokens to unlock them.

Each type of gear has a specific purpose, upgrade path, material, priority and strategy. But you can’t just upgrade everything at once. You have to understand when to upgrade and what to upgrade.

Gear Rarity and What It Means for Power

Every piece of equipment has a specific rarity. The rarity tells you how strong each gear is.

  • Common (White): These are the most basic items that you will get in the beginning. These are not very powerful and you can only use them in the early stages.
  • Uncommon (Green): These are a bit better than common items. But you can get advantage out of them only in the early stages. Overall they are still very basic.
  • Rare (Blue): This tier is good if you are in the mid-level stages. These gears have very balanced stats and you will start to feel actual use in combat. You will spend most of your time upgrading this tier.
  • Epic (Purple): This tier is very good for competitive games. In this tier you will see some extra stat upgrades and you will have to change your strategy while choosing your gear.
  • Legendary (Orange): This is the highest tier of gear. Here you will get the highest stat bonuses and multiplier effects. Using this gear your heroes can easily survive for longer in PvP and PvE challenges.

To progress through these tiers you will need a lot of resources and you will have to keep your plan ready beforehand. If you find it hard to collect resources then you can always opt for a Tiles Survive top up to get an advantage and get more time to actually upgrade your gear. The best platform to make the top-up is LDShop, it lets players top up for less and it is a great way to save money.

Upgrading Gear

Hero Gear

For Hero Gear you get 3 slots. First for attack use Helmet. If you want to deal high damage in short bursts then this is perfect. Then for defense go for a Vest. This will reduce the damage you deal and you can get a huge benefit if you use it on tanks or frontliners. And finally for health use Pants. They increase your Hero’s total health and your durability increases in combat. First try to focus on all 3 pieces equally. When all 3 reach a certain level like 20-25 then you can upgrade specific items according to what role your Hero plays.

Upgrade Timing

In Tiles Survive you will get many events like Turbo Turtle and Power Play where you can get reward points for upgrading your gear. In this way you can increase your efficiency by a lot because you can get power increases as well as rewards. So before dumping a lot of Gear Scraps try to wait for these events. But you also have to be careful of what gear you use with what hero. If you have removed one hero from your main lineup then make sure to unequip their gear and use them on your new hero that is currently in your lineup.

Upgrading Chief Gear

When you unlock Chief Gear you can get some of the best stat boosts in the game. Hero Gear is specific for your Heroes but Chief Gear increases your overall team power.

Quality Tiers and Materials

Chief Gear also has the same rarity progression like Hero Gear (Common → Uncommon → Rare → Epic → Legendary). However, to upgrade you will need rare items called Adhesives. You can get Adhesives mainly from alliance content like the Ghoulion Pursuit boss battles. You can get more rewards from these events based on how much damage you deal. This means the more active you are the faster you can upgrade your gear.

How to Upgrade Chief Gear

At first don’t try to rush your gear. Try to upgrade your gear slowly through the early tiers when you have enough Adhesives. Spread your upgrades across your full set before focusing on a single piece. Try to maximize your event participation just like Hero Gear upgrades.

Upgrading Signature Gear

Signature Gear items are always connected to specific SSR heroes and also have very unique names. Let us know more about them.

Unlocking and Upgrading Signature Gear

To unlock a Signature item you will usually need 10 Signature Tokens or fragments. After that you will need more tokens for each upgrade tier and the cost rises steeply. There are very few places from which you can get these tokens like Turbo Turtle event rewards or Reservoir Raid store by using raid coins. Sometimes you can also get some special bundles from the in-game store. You will have to grind very slowly especially if you are a F2P player. So try to use your tokens only on your main heroes and not waste them by using them on all heroes.

Reforging

When you reach high rarity for your gear then you will unlock the Reforge mechanic. Using reforging you can reroll special stats on whatever item you choose and increase its power. This is a bit different because all stat rolls are different. For example:

  • S-tier Auto-Attack Damage Bonus: This is excellent for DPS heroes.
  • S-tier Damage Reduction: You can use this on tanks for more survivability.
  • A-tier Skill Damage: This is also useful but not as much as S-tier rolls.

If you roll an Epic item properly then it can be much stronger than a Legendary item that you have rolled badly. So, try to focus during rerolling and aim for high tier special stats only.

Conclusion

In Tiles Survive equipment plays a huge role in your overall progress. If you understand rarity, upgrade at the right time and use Reforge wisely then you can make your heroes much stronger. Focus on upgrading smartly and manage resources carefully. Try to improve your main heroes first and then upgrade steadily.
