It looks way better in motion than it does in a single screenshot. The lighting effects, gold detailing, and transition between the two styles immediately make it feel like a proper Champions skin.

Yep, the Phantom predictions were right this time. But we no longer need to justify it by looking at patterns from previous years, because the Champions 2026 Phantom is officially right in front of us.

The skin has a pretty aggressive silhouette, with lots of sharp lines, gold metallic details, and glowing effects running across the weapon. What makes it especially interesting is just how different it looks depending on which style you’re using.

The Red Style: Much More Aggressive

The red version is probably the one that grabs your attention first. Much of the Phantom is wrapped in a bright red glow that contrasts sharply with the black body and smaller gold details.

In-game, it feels much more aggressive than the lighter version. The red effect surrounding the weapon also makes it stand out a lot, even in darker areas of the map.

The White-and-Gold Style: The More Elegant Look

The other style goes in the complete opposite direction. Here, white, black, and gold take over, giving the weapon a much cleaner and more elegant finish.

Personally, this is one of those skins that looks completely different once you see it in first person. The gold already stands out in promotional images, but during gameplay you can really see how it runs along the edges and different parts of the weapon.

Put them side by side and the idea becomes pretty obvious: they feel like two completely different sides of the same Phantom.

 

Champions 2026 Melee: A Fan and Blade in One Design

This was probably the part that caused the most confusion before the real footage started showing up.

For days, people were talking about a supposed Champions fan melee. Then rumors started claiming it might not actually be a fan after all. In the end, the answer landed somewhere in the middle: the melee uses both a fan form and a blade form.

So yeah, both sides were kind of right.

The Fan Form

When fully opened, the design clearly resembles a traditional fan, but with Valorant’s futuristic spin on it. It features light-colored panels, a metallic structure, gold edges, and several pretty sharp points.

The choice also fits especially well this year since Champions is being held in Shanghai. It doesn’t feel like Riot simply took a random melee and slapped the tournament colors on it. There’s a much clearer visual theme behind this one.

That also explains why some of the early clips and screenshots circulating online seemed to show completely different weapons. Depending on which part of the animation you were looking at, the melee could look dramatically different.

And honestly, I think that works in its favor. A fan already sounds like a cool concept, but having both forms gives the melee more variety instead of relying entirely on the novelty of the fan design.

Like most Champions collections, judging this Phantom from a single screenshot really doesn’t do it justice.

In the clips, you can see how much the red and gold effects change the overall feel of the weapon during gameplay, especially when the two looks are compared directly.

The gold version leans much more into that “trophy” look that Champions skins are known for, while the red one feels noticeably more explosive and aggressive. I’m sure plenty of players will already know exactly which one they prefer.

That said, I’d still wait until you can actually use it in-game before making a final decision. Valorant has plenty of skins that look incredible in promos but don’t feel quite as good once you’ve heard the sounds, watched the animations, and played twenty matches with them.

 

When Do the Valorant Champions 2026 Skins Release?

We can also throw those old September 16 predictions out the window. Today is the 17th, and obviously, that didn’t happen.

The date to mark now is September 23, 2026. The Champions 2026 collection will arrive just before Valorant Champions Shanghai begins on September 24.

The timing makes perfect sense: Riot is dropping the skins right before the biggest Valorant tournament of the year kicks off.
