Warhammer 40k Tacticus Characters Tier List

In this game, characters are categorized into four tiers based on their strength. The rankings are as follows:

  • S Tier: These characters can either end a match in one turn or sustain you throughout the battle by dealing high damage.
  • A-Tier: These units are nearly as powerful as S-Tier but often require a specific setup to reach their full potential.
  • B and C-tiers: These characters are only good for beginners.

S-Tier

Celestine

  • Faction: Adepta Sororitas

She shines in the Arena with her passive called Geminae Superia. This ability allows her to summon two guardians upon death or through her active skill. These guardians act as extra lives, making her the ultimate disruptor. Her base stats are also good enough to carry you through the battle without losing lives.

Celestine

Re'vas

  • Faction: Tau Empire

They are considered one of the top characters with their active Early Warning Override. It summons two shield drones, which can attack your enemies as soon as they reach the melee range. Also, their passive ability deals increased damage against Psykers. Her synergy with Aleph-Null is really good.

Re'vas

The Patermine

  • Faction: Genestealer Patriarch

This character has been newly added to the S-tier. His active Might From Below deals Psychic Damage 5 times to an adjacent enemy. After this, he summons a Purestrain Genestealer that can immediately attack in melee, but cannot move in the current turn. This summon also prevents the enemy from reaching your damage dealers.

The Patermine

Wrask

  • Faction: World Eaters

Wrask can help you wipe out the entire battlefield with his active Bloody Fury. It deals Chain Damage 1 time to an adjacent enemy. This attack stacks to a maximum of 8 hits in total. Any additional hits are given to remaining adjacent enemies, prioritising kills.

Wrask

Other S-Tier Characters

Titus and Deathleaper sit in the S-tier due to their abilities to hit your enemy multiple times. The first time each turn that Titus is defeated, he cannot be Overkilled. This increases his sustainability to an extent. On the other hand, Deathleaper triggers Battle Fatigue on enemies within 2 hexes. However, this is only possible if he has not moved this turn and is not in Deep Strike.

A-Tier

Abraxas

  • Faction: Thousand Sons

This character’s active ability is called Malefic Maelstrom. It summons a Pink Horror on its adjacent free Hex. It also summons a Screamer of Tzeentch whenever you deal psychic damage to your enemy. These summon units can immediately attack an enemy in range. However, they themselves cannot move.

Abraxas

Sho'syl

  • Faction: Tau Empire

Sho’syl’s active ability, Seeker Missile Frequency Lock, can target an enemy unit within 5 hexes. If he is still playing in the next turn, the target is hit by a Seeker Missile that deals 1x Heavy Round Damage.

Sho'syl

Bellator

  • Faction: Ultramarines

Bellator is a character that can carry you in the late-game. His ability, Death from Above, summons one Inceptor for each round that has started. These Inceptors can attack the adjacent target enemies immediately.

Bellator

B and C-Tiers

In a PvP environment, Eldryon can shine even in tough battles, given that you have allies that can support his low health stats. He also needs the allies to stand within two hexes to proc Doom. If you can manage these requirements, he can get you through tough battles.

Angrax’s passive ability, Hateful Assault, deals damage while charging. This makes him viable during engaging battles where the enemies are attacking rapidly.

The C-tier characters are often held back by slow movement or high setup costs. Isabella lags behind due to her lack of mobility, even though she is the best healer in the game. This becomes a drawback, especially when the enemies are overwhelming you.

Additional Tips

If you are a mid-game player, your investment priority should be S-tier characters, as they are expensive to gear. They require high-tier Orks and World Eater materials. Also, Aleph-Null’s self-replicating scarabs are the most efficient way to clear Campaign and Onslaught.

Note that even though Eldryon is B-tier in the list for PvP, do not neglect him for Guild Raids. His Doom passive is still the single highest source of cumulative damage for teams that use multi-hit characters.

Also, remember that resources are limited in the game. To wisely use them, always prioritize S or A-tier characters. If you want to progress faster, you can also buy Warhammer 40k Tacticus Blackstone. The best platform to make the top-up is LDShop, it lets players top up for less and it is a great way to save money.

Conclusion

The Tacticus tier list has evolved based on the newer characters. Every S-tier unit, from the jet-packing Celestine to the stealthy Deathleaper, has a specific role in dismantling a particular defense. Whether you are pushing for a top ranking or just trying to finish an event, this list can help you decide who to choose. Stick to the S-tier hyper-carries for Arena, keep your A-tier enablers geared for Raids, and use the other characters for the niche requirements like events or farming.
