WuWa Startorch Academy Characters: Luuk Herssen, Mornye, Lucilla...

On November 25th, the official Wuthering Waves Twitter account shared partial details of the "Startorch Academy" admission notice featured in the 3.0 storyline. Then on November 26th, Wuthering Waves released the character artwork for five new characters from the 3.x versions all at once. It’s safe to say that these updates indicate the official start of the hype for version 3.0—the Startorch Academy is on its way!

What is the Startorch Academy? And what are the roles of these new characters? LDShop will break it all down for you!

Startorch Academy

Startorch Academy is a multinational school built by the Spacetrek Collective specifically for Resonators in Lahai-Roi. It is known to contain the Exo Genesis Labs, Voidwatch Tower, Tactical Proving Grounds, and Simulator Cockpit. It is commonly referred to as the "Resonator Academy," where cutting-edge technologies related to Resonators are researched. This includes the development of modified monitoring collars for Chisa. Therefore, in theory, if the Startorch Academy becomes advanced enough, it could possess its own "Sentinels," suggesting the potential existence of an "artificial Sentinels" within the academy.

Startorch Academy shares intricate connections with our Rover. It is likely that Rover was an outstanding figure in this academy or may have even made a significant discovery there. However, due to memory loss, Rover has forgotten these details, which aligns with Chisa referring to Rover as "senior." Rover's memories are expected to be gradually unveiled throughout the Startorch Academy storyline.

 

New Characters

Mornye

Mornye is a character with purple-and-white hair and red eyes, giving off a delicate "anime-esque" vibe. At first glance, her translucent, starry legs immediately catch the eye. The entire artwork, from the background to her design, exudes a strong sense of technological aesthetic. According to leaks, Mornye is positioned as a support and enabler built around a revolutionary new mechanic.

From earlier leaks, we also learned that Mornye is likely a Fusion-attribute Resonator. However, the poster’s description of her — ⌈Should That Light be Reachable⌋，could she actually be a Spectro Resonator instead? As for her weapon type, it’s speculated to be the Rectifier, which would fit perfectly with the high-tech atmosphere surrounding her.

Lucilla

At first glance, Lucilla reminded LDShop of Shorekeeper and Cantarella, suggesting she might share their healing capabilities, though she’ll most likely be a dedicated support. That said, judging by the Chinese version of her tagline, ⌈Should That Spark Guide⌋, it seems to hint at Lucilla potentially being a Fusion-attribute Resonator.

What sets Lucilla apart from the other four revealed characters is her artwork. For starters, her Tacet Mark is hidden. Moreover, her overall design radiates a sense of fashion that feels distinctly different from the academic vibe of the others.

Sigrika

Just like Lucilla, it's totally hard to guess her attribute type. Her overall design gives off a lively and cute vibe, but figuring out her weapon is really tricky. Even the phrase ⌈Should That Expectation Overflow⌋ doesn't give much away. However, the color palette of her artwork somewhat resembles Augusta's—could she possibly be an Electro-attribute character?

What's more, there are two strange patterns in Sigrika's background: one looks like an animal's tail, and the other resembles the muscles of a hand. Does this mean Sigrika might be a support character who can buff allies and summon creatures to fight? Her aesthetic also shares some similarities with Augusta's symbolism—could she be an adorable version of an Electro DPS? Is the contrast about to go through the roof?!

Luuk Herssen

Luuk Herssen is likely an expert in the medical field—after all, he's practically covered in DNA motifs. Taking a closer look at his artwork, the colorful patterns on his left arm seem to resemble some form of "charging" mechanism, suggesting his arm might actually be cybernetically enhanced! That said, his weapon type remains pretty hard to pin down.

As for the tagline on his illustration—⌈Should That Molten Gold Drip⌋—it hints that he could be a Fusion-attribute character, especially with its connection to alchemical themes. And when it comes to his role—could he possibly be a healer? You know, given the whole medical vibe?

Lynae

Lynae, stands out with her graffiti-inspired street style and the most visibly placed Tacet Mark yet—located prominently on the back of her thigh. Her poster tagline, ⌈Should That Rainbow Spill⌋, offers little obvious clue to her attribute or weapon type, but her urban aesthetic certainly brings a refreshing twist to the roster.

Interestingly, Lynae's hair color shares a similar palette to Luuk Herssen's—could this hint at a dynamic between a scheming older brother and his rebellious little sister?

According to leaks, Lynae is the self-sufficient Spectro Support we've all been waiting for! She’s designed to break away from the traditional “babysitter” support role. Unlike units like Jinshi or Sanhua, who rely heavily on team coordination to perform, Lynae is rumored to feature independent, self-sustaining mechanics.
