Illuga Overview

Illuga is a 4★ Geo Polearm who’s all about making your on-field Geo carry hit harder and more consistently, rather than “being the damage” himself. His kit turns his Elemental Mastery into extra Geo damage for teammates whenever they’re actively dealing Geo hits, so he slots naturally into Geo-focused cores (especially ones that hit multiple targets often). He also rewards teams that already like Geo Constructs, since those setups help him keep more of his team-buff “fuel” available during his Burst window. In Hydro/Geo shells, he scales even better when your team is triggering Lunar-Crystallization, letting him amplify the kind of playstyle 6.3 is clearly pushing.

 

Illuga Kit Analysis & Rotation

Illuga is essentially a Burst-window Geo amplifier: you “preload” a stack pool, then let your active Geo damage dealer convert those stacks into extra damage at a very high rate. When Illuga casts his Burst, he gains 21 stacks of Nightingale’s Song for 20s. During that window, any nearby active character (not just Illuga) will consume 1 stack every time their Normal/Charged/Plunge, Skill, or Burst deals Geo DMG, and that hit gets a flat damage increase that scales off Illuga’s Elemental Mastery.

The important nuance is multi-target consumption: if a single Geo hit splashes multiple enemies, it can burn multiple stacks at once, which is why he prefers fast multi-hit / AoE Geo carries that can “spend” stacks efficiently without accidentally emptying the pool too early.

He also has a construct interaction: if Geo Constructs are already on-field when he Bursts, or get created during the window, Illuga can gain +5 stacks per construct, up to +15 extra stacks. This is what makes “construct-friendly” Geo cores feel especially smooth with him.

• 4-Piece When dealing Elemental DMG, gain the Gleaming Moon: Devotion effect for 8s: Increases all party members’ Elemental Mastery by 60/120 when the party’s Moonsign is Nascent Gleam/Ascendant Gleam. The equipping character can trigger this effect while off-field. All party members’ Lunar Reaction DMG is increased by 10% for each different Gleaming Moon effect that party members have. Effects from Gleaming Moon cannot stack.

This set fits Illuga’s support identity almost perfectly: the 20% ER stabilizes his Burst uptime, and the 4pc can be triggered off-field, so he buffs the team without stealing field time. In Moonsign comps, the party EM boost directly raises the value of his EM-scaling support output.

• 4-Piece Within 8s of triggering an Elemental Reaction, the character equipping this will obtain buffs based on the Elemental Type of the other party members. ATK is increased by 14% for each party member whose Elemental Type is the same as the equipping character, and Elemental Mastery is increased by 50 for every party member with a different Elemental Type. Each of the aforementioned buffs will count up to 3 characters. This effect can be triggered once every 8s. The character who equips this can still trigger its effects when not on the field.

Gilded Dreams is Illuga’s best “raw stats” 4pc when you just want him to stack EM hard. It’s also off-field friendly, so he can trigger the reaction condition during setup, then enter his Burst window with a stronger EM baseline. It shines most in mixed-element teams that maximize the EM portion.

• 2-Piece Elemental Burst DMG +20%
• 4-Piece Using an Elemental Burst increases all party members’ ATK by 20% for 12s. This effect cannot stack.

Noblesse is the reliable, no-nonsense option for Illuga because his rotation is naturally swap in, Burst, leave. That pattern keeps the 12s team ATK buff rolling with minimal effort and no reaction requirements. Pick this when your team doesn’t fully exploit Moonsign/Lunar mechanics but still wants a clean support slot.

Effect: ATK increased by 28% of Energy Recharge over the base 100%. You can gain a maximum bonus of 80% ATK. Gain 30% Energy Recharge for 12s after using an Elemental Burst.

Best for players who want “Burst every rotation, no excuses.” The huge ER baseline plus the post-Burst ER spike makes Illuga’s uptime extremely stable, so you can lean harder into EM on artifacts. It’s a luxury pick for clean, consistent support windows.

 

Kitain Cross Spear

Effect: Increases Elemental Skill DMG by 6%. After Elemental Skill hits an opponent, the character loses 3 Energy but regenerates 3 Energy every 2s for the next 6s. This effect can occur once every 10s. Can be triggered even when the character is not on the field.

A very practical support polearm for Illuga’s short field time. You tap Skill, trigger the passive, then swap out while it refunds Energy off-field, helping him come back ready to Burst. It also slightly boosts Skill damage, but the real win is rotation stability.

 

Favonius Lance

Effect: CRIT Hits have a 60% chance to generate a small amount of Elemental Particles, which will regenerate 6 Energy for the character. Can only occur once every 12s.

The most team-friendly option when your whole squad feels energy-hungry. Illuga only needs a few hits to fish for a CRIT proc, then Fav generates particles that smooth everyone’s rotations. Run some CRIT Rate if needed—this weapon is about energy support, not personal DPS.

This is the most “reaction-forward” version: Columbina’s Gravity Ripple keeps consistent AoE Hydro around your active character, while Xingqiu adds extra off-field Hydro hits plus interruption resistance and damage reduction, so Zibai can stay in her Geo-infused Lunar Phase Shift strings more safely. Illuga then turns that stable uptime into payoff by feeding Zibai a Burst window where her frequent Geo hits can rapidly spend his stacks, and the team naturally leans into Lunar-Crystallization triggering.

Zibai + Columbina + Illuga + Zhongli

This is the “comfort + consistency” core. Zhongli’s Jade Shield dramatically reduces the risk of getting staggered, letting Zibai commit to longer attack strings and skill usage inside Lunar Phase Shift without losing tempo. Columbina supplies the persistent Hydro field that follows your driver, keeping Lunar reactions available while you tunnel on Zibai’s rotation. Illuga is the payoff button: swap in to load his Burst window, then swap back so Zibai can convert that window into amplified Geo hits with minimal interruption.

This variant aims for tempo and offensive support. Xilonen’s Skill puts her into Nightsoul’s Blessing and activates her Geo “Source Sample” system, giving you a fast setup character who can contribute team-facing utility while staying low-field-time. Illuga Pulling Advice

Low budget: C0

Illuga already does his main thing at C0: set up his Burst window, then let your Geo carry spend stacks for amplified hits. If you just want a functional Moonsign/Lunar-Crystallize-friendly Geo support, C0 is fully playable.

Mid budget: C1 (Best value upgrade)

C1 is the first real “rotation fixer.” It refunds 12 Energy when a Geo-related reaction is triggered (15s CD), which directly reduces his ER pressure and makes “Burst every rotation” much easier in real teams.

Standard budget: C2 (Nice, but optional)

C2 adds extra personal damage: every 7 stacks consumed, Illuga summons Gale for a hit that scales with EM and DEF. It’s a fun DPS bump and makes his Burst window feel more explosive, but it doesn’t improve the team’s buffing core as much as C1 does.

High budget: C6 (Whale / “push the ceiling”)
