Lycaon or Rina? Best Pick for ZZZ 2.0 Free S-Rank Agent & W-Engine

As we just learned that the latest ZZZ 1^st anniversary version will be granting us a free S-Rank character and a free W-Engine.

There are those who stand a bit taller than others. Who to select? Let’s go from the least valuable to the most to help you make your decision.

*Note: If you have already stockpiled a lot of pulls, you should use them first before making your selection, to prevent accidentally getting an unwanted agent or weapon.

Least Valuable Choices

These Agents are not recommended:

• Grace (Electic Anomaly): Inflict Shock effect on enemies, increase the accumulated Electric Anomaly Buildup, benefit for Anomaly teams.
• Soldier 11 (Fire Attack): Trigger Fire Suppression to unleash more powerful slashes.
• Nekomata (Physical Attack): Rely on agile movements to deal DMG.

These three are main DPS in ZZZ, but they are not strong enough. Even if you lack an Electric DPS, Fire DPS, or Physical DPS, you should not choose them. The main DPS release in the future will be far stronger than them. Soldier 11 was decent in the start of the game, with the increase of enemy’s HP, she is left behind now.

Of course, if you just want to complete your character collection, whether to choose these three depends on your personal preference.

 

Considerable Choice

Element: Fire Type: Stun

Koleda is a Fast-Switching Burst Stun character who can also effectively increase the team's Chain Attack DMG against Dazed enemies, enhancing her teammates' ability to finish off enemies during the Daze.

She is unassuming at first, but with the introduction of Evelyn, Koleda quickly gor her number called up. She is paired well with Evelyn and become Top 5 Stun in ZZZ.

Koleda's M1 increases the Daze dealt by 15%, and her M2 recovers 60 Energy, both of which are valuable. If you play Evelyn and don't have Lighter, nor do you plan to pull for the new Stun Ju Fufu, then you can consider choosing Koleda.

 

Best Picks

Element: Electric Type: Assist

Rina can increase the PEN Ratio of teammates, extend Shock time of enemies, and enhance team’s Electric DMG, very suitable for Electric DPS.

At M0, Rina is basically unusable and in a semi-finished sate. Her support is adequate but coverage time is very short, making her hard to play. Only few teams can manage to use her effectively.

Rina become complete once she get M1. The support power increase while the coverage improved. PEN Ratio as a strong attribute in ZZZ, allows almost any teammate to benefit from Rina’s support.

M1 Rina is an excellent support and a great choice for many teams aiming for high performance. As the only PEN Ratio support, her versatility and base strength are both outstanding.

 

Element: Ice Type: Stun

M0 Lycaon already have complete mechanics. In the Ice team, Lycaon provides Stun abilities while also reducing Ice RES, decreasing Anomaly accumulation, increasing Daze and enhancing vulnerability.

He performs well with Ice DPS like Ellen, Miyabi and Hugo and remains one of the best teammate to the Ice DPS to this day. With Ellen set to be further strengthened in 2.0 version, Lycaon will become even more powerful.

If you play with an Ice DPS, Lycaon is highly recommended. M1 increases the Daze caused by his EX Special Attack, and his M2 restores Energy, both of which are valuable enhancements.

 

Lycaon or Rina?

Making selection based on the permanent Agents you currently have:

• No Lycaon: Prioritize M0 Lycaon as he can significantly boost your Ice team.
• No Rina with M0 Lycaon: Choose M0 Rina, the only PEN Ratio support in the game, she is easy to play and develop.
• With both M0 Rina and M0 Lycaon: Go for Rina’s M1 since it can transform her support duration from 3s to 10s and greatly enhance her abilities.
• With M1 Rina and M0 Lycaon: Consider Lycaon M1 0r M2 since they are both valuable to Lycaon and your Ice twam.

Least Valuable Options

Fusion Complier
	Increase ATK, PEN Rate, and Anomaly Proficiency. Useful for Grace and Yanagi. However, most Anomaly characters can't bypass the A-rank divine w-engine Weeping Gemini. Although Fusion Compiler is usable, it is not really necessary to switch to; it's better to consider other weapons.
Steel Cushion
	Increase CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, and DMG hitting from behind. Except for Nekomata, it is also usable for Hugo because Hugo’s EX Special Attack can hit enemy from behind automatically. But there are better options for Hugo.

 

Higher Valuable Choices

Recommended for Stun team
The Restrained	Increase DMG and Daze from Basic Attacks for 8s, stacking up to 5 times. Suitable for Stunners like Lycaon, Qingyi and Trigger because they all use Basic Attack to inflict Daze. It is also useful for new agent Stun Ju Fufu in 2.0 banner.
Hellfire Gears	While off-field, increases the equipper's Energy Regen. When using an EX Special Attack, the equipper's Impact is increased by 10% for 10s, stacking up to 2 times. This W-engine is suitable for Koleda, Lycaon, and Lighter, as they all rely on using their EX Special Attack.
Recommended for Attack team
The Brimstone	Upon hitting an enemy with a Basic Attack, Dash Attack, or Dodge Counter, the equipper's ATK increases by 3.5% for 8s, stacking up to 8 times. A strong budget option for limited Attackers.
Recommended for Electric team
Weeping Cradle	While off-field, the equipper's Energy Regen increases by 0.6/s. Attacks from the equipper enhance all units' DMG against a struck target by 10% for 3 seconds. As Rina’s signature W-engine, it offers significant enhancements to her abilities, and there are few viable lower-tier alternatives available.

1.New Players Starting Out

Agents: Lycaon > Rina > Koleda

W-engine: The Brimstone > Hellfire Gears

 

2.Experienced Players to Enhance Their Roster

Agents: Rina’s M1 > Lycaon’s M1 / M2 > Koleda’s M2

W-engine: Level up The Brimstone > Complete Your collection (when you don't have a versatile weapon yet)

 

3.Special Situations

Ice Team: Lycaon + Hellfire Gears, significantly boosting the output ceiling of Ellen / Miyabi.

Electric Team: Rina M1 + Weeping Cradle, enabling cross-attribute enforcement with Yanagi.

 

Conclusion

In summary, for the agents selection, go for Lycaon if you don’t have him, otherwise, go for M1 Rina. If you have both of them, you can consider selecting Koleda and the Mindscapes of theses three characters.

Unlike the clear-cut character choices, the selection of w-engine is more flexible. It really depends on what characters you play the most. Except for the Chimeric Compiler and Steel Cushion, which are less recommended, the rest should be chosen based on your needs.
