Hi, Appraisers! Version 1.1 Dreamwalk Corridor is now live in Neverness to Everness, bringing the new Sunward Island map and the limited-time Sunward Travelogue event.

One of the main event tasks asks you to complete Strange Tales - Sunward Island. There are 9 Strange Tales in total, and many of them are tied to specific time, weather, NPC spawns, hidden items, or small map interactions. This guide gives you a one-route walkthrough so you can clear all 9 Strange Tales smoothly and collect the event rewards, including Annulith, Elite Hunter Guides, Chaotic Dye, Expansion Cores, and more.

Before You Start

Sunward Travelogue runs from June 3 after the update to July 8, 05:59 (UTC+8). To access Sunward Island, progress through the Version 1.1 main story episode Dreamwalk Corridor, which unlocks after A Research in Scarlet.

To save time, unlock the Sunward Island ReroRero Phone Booth first. Most steps below use it as the starting point.

You will also need to use the Time System often. Some Strange Tales require morning, night, sunny weather, or rainy weather. If an NPC does not appear or cannot be interacted with, try these fixes:

  • Change the in-game time and weather again.
  • Enter any Character Trial, then exit.
  • Restart the game.
  • If a quest is being tracked automatically, cancel tracking and try again.

Do not skip important dialogue too quickly, especially during NPC-triggered Strange Tales.

1. The Drowning Tourist Strange Tale

Teleport to the Sunward Island ReroRero Phone Booth. From there, go northeast and head down toward the road. Summon a vehicle, ride downhill, then turn left when you reach the road. Keep going until you see stairs leading down to the beach on your right.

Near the stairs, talk to the mother and child NPCs. After the conversation, set the time to 08:00 the next morning and choose Sunny weather.

If the same mother and child are still there and no new NPC appears, enter and exit a Character Trial. A tired-looking tourist should appear nearby. Talk to him, then swim out into the sea.

Let your stamina run out in the water. When white bubbles appear, stay inside the bubble area and swim in small circles. Do not swim too far away, or the event may fail to trigger. After the scene plays, you will be sent back to the shore. Talk to the mother again to complete the Strange Tale.

2. The Tunnel Strange Tale

After finishing the drowning event, set the time to 22:00.

Return to the road and summon a motorcycle, scooter, or any rideable vehicle. Head west into the tunnel. Ride a short distance inside, and the Strange Tale will trigger automatically.

This one is simple: the key condition is entering the tunnel at night while riding a vehicle.

3. Flying Fish Strange Tale

Go back to the tunnel entrance area. On the nearby coast, look for a drift bottle by the shore and interact with it.

After reading the bottle, head northwest along the beach toward the small island area. Follow the coastline until you reach the fishing NPCs. Set the time to 08:00 and choose Sunny weather, then talk to the two fishing NPCs.

After the conversation, go to the nearby fishing spot on the coast and start fishing. Catch any Flying Fish variant from this spot. Blue, red, or green variants all work. After catching one, exit fishing mode, and the Strange Tale will complete.

4. The Firestone and Bonfire Strange Tale

From the fishing area, head southwest along the coast. Stay close to the rocks until you find a small wooden boat. Next to it, there is a blue bag. Search the bag to obtain a Firestone.

Now go south toward the beach bonfire and light it once. Even if the fire does not stay visibly lit afterward, that is fine. You only need to trigger the interaction once.

The Firestone and Bonfire Strange Tale

Next, set the time to 20:00 and choose Rainy weather. Look toward the shore. If the NPC does not appear after a short while, open the Time System again and select Rainy weather once more to push the time forward.

An escaped NPC will appear near the water. Talk to him. For the first dialogue choice, select the first option. For the second choice, any answer works, but the third option gives a small extra Fons reward. After the dialogue, this Strange Tale is complete.

5. The Golden Tree Strange Tale

This Strange Tale requires three items found under three golden trees. The trees only appear after 20:00, so keep the time at night.

The Golden Tree Strange Tale

From the bonfire area, go southeast and climb up toward the first golden tree. Pick up the item under the tree.

Then head south along the resort wall. Keep following the wall until you find the second golden tree. Pick up the second item there.

The third golden tree is collected later in this route near the mountain area, so do not worry if this Strange Tale does not complete yet.

6. The Ghost Captain and Rusty Knife Strange Tale

From the second golden tree area, glide or move toward the wooden ship mast and the beach campfire below. You should find an NPC called Great Jerry near the bonfire.

Talk to him repeatedly and keep choosing the first dialogue option until he asks you to help find a knife. When the option appears, choose the answer that means “I’ll try.”

Now teleport back to the Sunward Island ReroRero Phone Booth. Head west along the road and enter the resort. Go straight into the resort lobby, then take the stairs on the right. On the second floor, look north and find two NPCs sitting near a table.

Talk to them. If you cannot interact with them, set the time to morning or enter and exit a Character Trial. After the dialogue, pick up the Rusty Knife from the table.

The Ghost Captain and Rusty Knife Strange Tale

Track the Strange Tale from the map, then return to the marked shipwreck area. Interact with the bonfire and throw the Rusty Knife into it. If the ghost captain does not appear near the wooden boat, enter and exit a Character Trial. Talk to the ghost captain once he appears. Any dialogue option works, and the Strange Tale will complete afterward.

7. The Water Well Strange Tale

Teleport back to the Sunward Island ReroRero Phone Booth again. From there, head southeast through the alley beside the houses and climb over the wall into the forest.

There is a well in the middle of this area. Set the time to 20:00. Weather does not matter for this step.

Interact with the well and choose to pour water. Then interact with it again and listen to the story. Once the story finishes, this Strange Tale is complete.

8. Dance Dance Dance Strange Tale

From the well area, head southeast up the hill. This is where you can find the third golden tree. Climb toward it and pick up the final golden-tree item under the tree.

After that, go east into the nearby residential area. If nothing happens, set the time to 22:00.

Before entering the doorway, turn on music. You can use the Cubox Portable Player, or you can use a motorcycle with music playing. While the music is active, enter the door. This should teleport you and complete the Strange Tale.

9. Bell Strange Tale and Final Golden Tree Turn-In

The bell itself completes one Strange Tale, while the final island turn-in finishes the Golden Tree Strange Tale you started earlier. After the music-door Strange Tale, walk west to the house entrance, then turn right and glide down. Look below for a platform with a bell.

Land on the platform and interact with the bell. Ringing it completes another Strange Tale. The bell can also change the island’s weather each time you ring it, so it is useful if you need to adjust weather for cleanup.

Now finish the Golden Tree Strange Tale. From the bell area, glide northeast toward the beach, then summon a scooter or motorcycle. Ride along the coast toward the small offshore island.

Near the reef, you will see a narrow path across the water. Follow it by vehicle until you reach the small island. Ride or climb up the slope, then interact with the stone at the top. Submit the three golden-tree items you collected earlier. Once you hand them in, the Golden Tree Strange Tale is complete.

Common Problems and Fixes

If the blue bag near the wooden boat cannot be interacted with, make sure you have checked the drift bottle first. The bottle is the trigger for that Strange Tale.

If you cannot talk to the resort NPCs for the Rusty Knife, make sure you have already accepted Great Jerry’s request to find the knife. Talk to him multiple times until the “I’ll try” option appears.

For the drowning Strange Tale, do not swim too close to shore or too far out. Once the white bubbles appear, stay around that area and swim in small circles until the scene triggers.

For the bonfire Strange Tale, interacting with the bonfire once after obtaining the Firestone is enough. Even if the fire does not stay visible, the rainy-night NPC can still appear as long as the previous steps are done.

Final Thoughts

That wraps up all 9 Strange Tales - Sunward Island in the Sunward Travelogue event. Most of the difficulty comes from hidden triggers, time changes, weather checks, and NPC refresh issues, so follow the route above and you should be able to clear everything in one run.
