Picking the wrong Fantomon early in Sword X Staff is one of the most common ways players slow down their own progression. With the system locked behind account level 50 and Mythic pull rates sitting at 0.8%, every crystal you spend should be pointed at something worth having. This tier list ranks every known Fantomon from S to C so you can stop guessing and start building.
What Are Fantomons?
Fantomons are pet companions you deploy alongside your character. They provide passive stat boosts to your build and can materialize directly in combat once triggered. The system unlocks at account level 50 through the giant tree at your home base.
You can deploy up to four Fantomons at once. Your main slot pet contributes 100% of its stats and shows up in battle. The three secondary slots each contribute 50%. On top of that, every Fantomon you own — including benched ones — contributes 20% of its stats through the resonance system. That means owning more pets is always better, even if most of them never see the main slot.
One important distinction: your main stat slot and your combat slot are separate decisions. The Fantomon in your main slot gives you 100% passive stats but is not automatically the one that fights. Always put your highest-rarity Fantomon in the main stat slot regardless of role.
Fantomon Rarity and Pull Rates
Fantomons come in four rarity tiers: Mythic (SSR), Legendary (SR), Epic (R), and Rare (N). The game currently has only two Mythic Fantomons: Aegiswing and Nyxarchon, both purchasable from the shop for 60 Summon Crystals each. Sylvaerie is available for 18 Summon Crystals, but Mythics are significantly stronger and should be the priority.
The gacha rates at the summoning tree are:
|
Rarity |
Pull Rate |
|
Mythic (SSR) |
0.8% |
|
Legendary (SR) |
5.0% |
|
Epic (R) |
30.0% |

Rare (N) |
64.2% |
A pity system guarantees at least 1 Summon Crystal every 10 pulls. Before spending, note that evolution requires a duplicate copy of the same Mythic — plan to acquire two copies of whichever Mythic you choose, as evolution unlocks the Materialization form at level 108.

S-Tier Fantomons
The two Mythics are in a tier of their own purely because Mythic rarity brings meaningfully higher base stats and, after evolution, access to full Materialization in battle. Which one you target depends entirely on your class.

Nyxarchon is the priority for Sorcerer. Its skill interactions align specifically with magic-heavy ability rotations, and its offensive stat contributions push magic damage output higher than any other Fantomon pairing for that class. If you main Sorcerer, Nyxarchon should be your first 60-crystal spend.

Aegiswing is the Mythic pick for Knight and any build leaning into survivability. It amplifies defensive stats and works well in high-pressure content where sustaining through damage matters more than raw output. Knight mains should target Aegiswing before anything else.
A-Tier Fantomons

Zeioletus is the strongest Legendary for most DPS players. Twice every two turns, whenever you hit an enemy with a Technique, it deals additional damage to that enemy and all surrounding targets within 1 Grid — and also knocks them airborne, which adds crowd control. It's better than Falko in the same role, and its Materialization form improves its mob-clearing further. For Duelist or Sorcerer players who haven't secured a Mythic yet, Zeioletus is the main slot pick.

Armopi covers the tank-side Legendary role. It stacks DEF buffs over three turns and then converts them into a Shield based on your DEF stat. This makes it particularly strong for Knight and especially valuable in Shield Counter builds, where the Shield itself feeds back into damage. Its Materialization form can also extend Shields to allies.

Kels is a dispel-focused Legendary exclusive to the Arena Shop — it can't be pulled from the tree at all. Once per turn, when you hit an enemy with a damage-dealing Technique, it dispels a random buff from that enemy. This makes Kels most relevant in PvP where buff removal has clear value. Worth picking up as you accumulate Arena currency.

Sylvaerie directly buffs your ATK and Speed, which is simple but broadly useful. Its Materialization form adds a chance to Slow enemies, giving it a bit of utility on top. At 18 Summon Crystals it's accessible early, though it should give way to Mythics in your main slot once they're available.

B-Tier Fantomons

Herbote is the Legendary healer of choice over Mandragora once you factor in its Materialization form. Its base version heals you at the start of your turn if you're below 80% HP, with a 50% chance to cleanse a debuff at the same time. The unevolved version doesn't outperform Mandragora, but the Materialized form extends heals to allies, which matters more in prolonged group content.

Falko is the Epic-rarity predecessor to Zeioletus — same AoE Technique-trigger mechanic, less damage, no airborne knockup, and a weaker Materialization form. Solid placeholder until Zeioletus is in hand.

Boaro generates a Shield based on your DEF whenever you drop below 15% HP, up to five times. Useful as a survivability option for Knight early on, and it feeds into Shield Counter builds. Its Materialization form doesn't add much.

Mandragora heals one ally whenever you use a Technique on an ally. Good for Sage specifically because the proc isn't capped per turn. Note that its Materialization form adds little — investing evolution resources into Mandragora isn't recommended; use Herbote for the evolved support role.
C-Tier Fantomons
Early-game placeholders that belong in secondary and bench slots for the resonance bonus. Don't invest leveling materials into them beyond what you need to keep your deployment resonance level from bottlenecking.

F2P vs. Paid Fantomon Strategy
Free-to-play players should avoid spending Summon Crystals before account level 50 — many new players pull early and don't have enough left for a Mythic when the system unlocks. Once level 50 is reached, pick your class and spend toward the class-appropriate Mythic. Plan for two copies from the start, since evolution at level 108 requires a duplicate.
The Pet Selector Chest arrives at day 7 of login rewards. The pool typically includes Sylvaerie and strong Legendary options. Hold it until your class is decided — it doesn't expire, and spending it on a mismatched pet is one of the most common early mistakes.
If you're spending, chase the second copy of your main Mythic as a priority. Mythic-tier Aptitude materials are among the scarcest resources in the game, and duplicate Mythics are the most efficient use of that investment.
FAQ
What are the only Mythic Fantomons in Sword X Staff right now?
Currently Aegiswing and Nyxarchon. Both cost 60 Summon Crystals from the shop. Sylvaerie is available for 18 crystals at Legendary rarity.
When does the Fantomon system unlock?
At account level 50, through the giant tree at your home base.
Why do I need two copies of my Mythic Fantomon?
Evolution to Materialization form at level 108 requires a duplicate copy of the same Mythic. Plan for this before spending all your Summon Crystals on a single copy.
Is Zeioletus better than Falko?
Yes. Zeioletus is a Legendary-tier upgrade to Falko — same Technique-triggered AoE mechanic, but it also knocks enemies airborne and deals more damage against large targets. Its Materialization form further improves mob clear.
Should I evolve Mandragora?
Generally no. Mandragora's Materialization form isn't impactful enough to justify the resources. Herbote is the better Legendary healer to evolve if you need a support Fantomon with an upgraded form.
Can I get Kels from the summoning tree?
No. Kels is exclusively obtainable from the Arena Shop. Keep spending Arena currency consistently and it will become available over time.
