Epic Seven features an anime-style, turn-based battle system set in a dystopian world filled with original characters. It has achieved widespread popularity due to its regular updates and quality-of-life improvements that help it stand out from competitors.
With a steady stream of new characters and an extensive roster, it’s understandable to feel unsure about which ones are the strongest. Fortunately, our Epic Seven tier list is here to guide you. The rankings based on meta impact, versatility, draft power, and reliability in high-level play.
Tier List Overview
Below is a complete overview of the tier list we have compiled for you. The classification criteria are as follows:
- S: Staple meta-defining units that completely change your playstyle, drafting strategy, and team potential. These units are dominant, versatile, and highly recommended for any account.
- A: Strong and reliable units with great versatility. They perform well in both fast and slow compositions and remain viable across many team setups.
- B: Good but less flexible units, mostly damage dealers, knights, or utility fighters. They require team support but can perform well in the right compositions.
- C: Cleave and aggro-focused units that excel in fast, burst-oriented teams. They deal high damage but lack universal usability.
- D: Niche or underperforming units with low meta usage, outdated mechanics, or highly situational performance only.

In the following section, we will provide a detailed explanation of the roles marked in bold in the table.
S Characters
This S-tier includes characters regarded as the most powerful in the current meta. They are commonly seen in high-level RTA (Real-Time Arena), as well as in raids and dungeons. Their abilities are perfectly suited to the meta, making them top priorities for picks and bans. If you own any of these units, be sure to build them properly to maximize their effectiveness.
New Moon Luna

New Moon Luna is one of the strongest heroes in the game with extremely powerful kit since her release; she can hold Tagahel's Ancient Book to soul burn at the start of the match, ignore resistance, seal all enemies, put them in unbuffable state, fully strip their buffs, and her sealing is incredibly strong because she ignores all passive abilities, allowing her to lock down enemies and ignore tons of mechanics in the game.
Empyrean Ilynav

Empyrean Ilynav has a passive ability that provides 30% defense penetration resistance to the team, essentially protecting allies from hard-hitting damage dealers and units that ignore defense, making her extremely good at keeping the team alive and one of the best knights in the game currently while being super hard to eliminate; she also gains combat readiness every time a teammate is hit, allowing her to turn cycle very quickly and serve as an extremely powerful mitigation unit.
Belian

Belian is a staple and powerful counter unit that excels at shutting down any unit trying to use soul burns, and although she has counters such as being an AoE unit and being weak to units like Lone Crescent Bellona and Last Rider Crow, she remains a strong counter pick to units like Shepherd of the Dark Diene and any aggressive cleave or aggro teams that are growing in popularity.
Sea Phantom Politis

Sea Phantom Politis wasn't a great opener for a couple seasons, but now she's doing really, really well. She is a strong unit that can shut down fighting spirit and focus gain, cutting them by half, making her extremely effective against many current meta DPS units such as Lone Crescent Bellona and Setsuka; she is very fast, provides a rage buff to the team, and has great synergy with many units while offering attack and speed buffs that are always beneficial to the team.
A Characters
These are dependable, high-performing units with excellent versatility. They fit comfortably into both fast and slow team compositions and remain effective across a wide range of setups.
Briar Witch Iseria

Briar Witch Iseria is a blanket revive and cleave counter unit that has grown more popular due to the rise of units like Ruele; she ignores resistance, fully strips buffs and applies defense break, can push the player’s team with the Renewed Will artifact, and prevents both player and enemy teams from reviving, nullifying kits such as Ruele, Maid, and Genesis Ross.
Harsetti

Harsetti acts as a nuisance unit that can limit the opponent’s speed, making everyone’s speed lower than hers, and can shut down attempts to outspeed the player’s team, especially against aggressive and fast teams.
Lone Wolf Peira

Lone Wolf Peira grants the team a swift attack buff that scales well with units that already increase their own combat readiness, especially for aggressive playstyles and teams focused on multiple turns.
Maid Chloe

Maid Chloe is a solid unit that provides a revive buff to the team, heals every time she takes a turn, and grants a defense buff to the team, but she lacks self-revive and can be easily eliminated by fast cleave teams if she is not built tanky and with resistance to avoid being controlled.
Ruele

Ruele is an extremely powerful unit that is frustrating to fight against because she can grant herself invincibility, revive another unit to full health and grant them invincibility, provide a damage limit buff on her second skill with a massive barrier, has incredible healing, can self-revive once per battle, and is extremely hard to kill; paired with Prophetic Candlestick, she becomes one of the most annoying units that can literally drag out matches almost forever.
Zio

Zio is a strong opener unit that is almost guaranteed to go first regardless of the situation, although he has more counters than in the past, and he remains a solid pick for contesting speed against opponents and providing a protection slot to help the team go first even for slower players.
B Characters
This tier includes characters that are neither particularly strong nor weak, sitting in a balanced middle ground. They are still widely used in many teams. Don’t underestimate them, for example, units like Destina and Cidd are easily accessible and perform well in PvE. However, they require top-tier gear to be competitive in PvP, which is why they rank lower.
Archdemon's Shadow

Archdemon's Shadow is a mage unit that can seal enemies, carry her own book, and target only one unit at a time without stripping buffs, but she can still punish squishy backline units effectively. So it makes her kind of an inferior New Mu Luna, but not to say that she is bad at all. You can seal units that are really annoying like Setsuka and such and the amount of fixed damage that you can do with her is also relatively good.
Dark Corvus

Dark Corvus sees frequent use in Guild Wars. Equipped with a War set, he can easily eliminate almost any opponent, as long as the enemy team lacks defense penetration resistance. Simply using his third skill can take out a target with minimal effort.
Pairing him with the Thorn of the Blue Rose (Fire Corvus’s artifact), which grants 10 souls at the start of battle, allows him to immediately soul burn for increased damage. This makes him not only powerful but also fairly easy to build, especially for newer players. He’s a solid choice if you’re focusing on Guild Wars and want more consistent victories, he is definitely a worthwhile unit to have.
Designer Lilibet

Designer Lilibet is a little bit underrated with the self cleanse, the good damage, the CR pushing that she has. Very few units now have the ability to cut your opponent's team really reliably and a Designer Lilibet's okay at that uh as long as she's not getting pushed back too far and as long as you have enough speed on her. She is usable, but again, there are probably better choices if you're trying to survive cleave teams, but she is pretty decent at self cleansing herself if you're afraid of getting locked down by your opponent's.
Dragon King Sharun

Dragon King Sharun is included here largely because of the presence of Swift Flag Bearer Sigret, as she can help counter fear-based effects. She’s capable of cleansing debuffs like fear, stun, and sleep each turn, which makes her fairly reliable. She’s often paired with units like Rin to play more aggressively, though she can function in both offensive and defensive roles. However, keep in mind that she tends to be quite fragile—so if you’re up against a Swift Flag Bearer Sigret and get hit by her second skill, you’ll likely still be taken out.
C&D Characters
C-tier category, focused on cleave and aggro playstyles. This doesn’t mean these units are worse than others—they simply have more niche roles. Therefore, we will highlight some distinctive C-tier characters here.
As for D-tier units, they see little to no play, so they will not be discussed in detail.
- Eternal Wanderer Ludwig: A burst mage who relies on Soul Burn to deal high damage, but his heavy dependence on souls makes him less common in the current meta.

- Commander Pavel: A strong damage dealer who doesn’t rely on defense penetration or Soul Burn, making him harder to counter and very effective in the current meta, though he can be checked by Fighting Spirit counters.
- Operator Sigret: A damage dealer that depends on enemy barriers to maximize her effectiveness, which limits her consistency in the current meta.
- Top Model Luluca: Recently buffed and highly powerful, she excels at one-shotting slower, high-priority enemies with strong single-target damage.

- Roana: A strong bridge support who can provide souls and synergize well with fast openers, helping maintain team tempo.
- Silver Blade Aramintha: Offers powerful crowd control with stuns and burn damage, but requires teammates to strip enemy buffs before she can fully utilize her kit.
Conclusion
This tier list reflects the April 2026 meta. A well-balanced Summoners War team includes monsters that fulfill a variety of roles, each contributing differently in battle based on their specific functions.
You can use the tier list above as a reference and build your team accordingly by considering each unit’s role (Thief, Warrior, Marksman, Support, Mage, Knight).
