Pistol |
Galbrena is equipped with remarkable self-sustain capabilities and puts forth a powerful solo performance. As a primary Fusion DPS, her 1-chain and 6-chain Resonance abilities are both capable of stacking Afterflame by leveraging her teammates’ Echo Skills—this positions her as an extremely promising unit for upcoming triple-Fusion team setups.
Galbrena has the ability to shift from her Threshold State into an enhanced form known as Demon Hypostasis, and in this empowered state, both her abilities and damage output receive significant upgrades. Gaining access to Demon Hypostasis requires 100 Sinflame points, which are earned by striking enemies while she is in Threshold State. To further boost her performance, Galbrena also needs to accumulate Afterflame—a resource generated through the use of Echo Skills. Once Demon Hypostasis is activated, Afterflame strengthens all of her damage output, making this mechanic essential for unlocking her true power.
Brant
Rarity |
Weapon |
5star |
Sword |
Brant belongs to the 5-star Fusion Sword Hybrid character class, and his key characteristics lie in two aspects: he can inflict substantial personal damage, and owing to his Outro skill, he also has the capability to grant buffs to another DPS character on the team. This in turn paves the way for more distinctive team builds—rather than focusing all damage output on a single character, multiple team members contribute to the total damage, which is known as a multi-DPS team.
Beyond these traits, Brant also possesses Sustain capabilities in the form of Heals and Shields, and the majority of his ability kit revolves around Mid-Air attacks. Such a skill set makes him a top-tier multi-purpose character: he can fulfill numerous roles while occupying just one slot in the team, and at the same time, he maintains a relatively high level of safety when in the air.

Changli is a 5-star Fusion Sword Hybrid character who stands out for her extraordinary damage potential. She epitomizes the “Dual DPS” or “Dual Carry” character type, as her damage multipliers fall somewhere between those of Hybrid-class and DPS-class characters in tiers similar to hers. What sets her apart is her massive capacity to utilize Swap-Cancels—likely more so than any other character in the game—and her core trait can be summed up in two words: skill factor. In this regard, she perfectly embodies the potential hidden within Wuthering Waves’ combat mechanics. That said, as we will explore in greater detail throughout this review, she remains fully usable even at her baseline damage floor, even when serving as the sole DPS on a team.
Every ability in her kit is crucial to her functionality—she wouldn’t work if these abilities didn’t synergize together—and all of them center around the mechanics linked to her Forte Circuit and her Resonance Skill: Enflamement and True Sight. Changli is a Hybrid character capable of using Swap-Cancels extensively. However, this playstyle isn’t one that most players will easily access or even want to try out initially, especially given how much higher Changli’s skill factor is compared to other characters in Wuthering Waves’ roster. At her optimal performance level, she ranks among the game’s strongest characters, far outpacing most competitors. For the majority of the player base, though, she will function perfectly well as a Main DPS character—one that’s more than sufficient for clearing endgame content—and she doesn’t require the use of Swap-Cancels to do so.
Lupa
Rarity |
Weapon |
5star |
Sword |
Lupa is a 5-star Fusion Broadblade character, with her main role being to provide buffs to other Fusion characters on your team—while also dishing out solid personal damage herself. She stands out for having an extended rotation time, along with buffs that boast an equally long duration when compared to most other characters in the game. This makes Lupa perform exceptionally well in mono Fusion teams: though these teams require lengthy full-team rotations, their damage potential is equally high, which offsets this length and makes the setup viable.
Lupa works wonderfully whether paired with F2P teammates or those with higher investment. Her main drawback is that she needs additional investment to boost her damage output, and her optimal use case lies in Mono Fusion teams that include three damage dealers (herself included)—a setup that demands a significant amount of resources. However, this shortcoming is alleviated by her synergy with Encore; their pairing works surprisingly well, even beyond the framework of Mono Fusion team archetypes. When in such Mono Fusion teams, though, Lupa becomes an excellent addition: she introduces a brand-new archetype to Wuthering Waves and performs just as strongly as some of the top-tier contenders in the current meta, ultimately making her an outstanding character overall.

Mortefi
Rarity |

4star |
Pistols |
Mortefi is a 4-star Hybrid character who wields a Fusion Pistol. When built properly, he can deal solid damage, but he really excels in a more supportive role—especially when paired with teammates whose damage mainly comes from Heavy Attacks. This is due to his Ultimate Skill synergizing with Heavy Attacks, and his Outro further boosting them by 38%.
Mortefi recharges his Forte Gauge through Basic Attacks, Resonance Skill, and Intro Skill. Once the gauge is full, his skill transforms into Fury Fugue. Similar to his Resonance Skill, Fury Fugue is an excellent generator of Concerto Energy and Resonance Energy, with the added bonus of dealing Fusion DMG over an AoE range. His Forte Gauge can be filled quickly by using Basic Attacks right after his Resonance Skill, which lets him unlock Fury Fugue faster. Another great feature of Fury Fugue is that it has no cooldown: as long as the Forte Gauge is full, it can be used repeatedly. What’s more, it doesn’t interfere with his regular Resonance Skill, allowing him to use the two in rapid succession.
Encore
Rarity |
Weapon |
5star |
Rectifier |
Encore’s core combat mechanics revolve around her Forte: once fully charged, it enhances her Heavy Attack into a high-DPS strike—though this attack comes with a notable casting period. This enhanced Heavy Attack gains an extra boost during her Ultimate skill, so it’s essential to cast it while the Ultimate is active to achieve maximum effectiveness. While the long casting time is a drawback, the ability supports Swap-Canceling, and this cancel should be executed every time the enhanced Heavy Attack is used. It’s important to note, however, that there’s a small window of vulnerability after she attacks, before she can be swapped out.
As a 5-star character wielding a Fusion Rectifier, Encore offers two adaptable playstyles based on your preference. The first is the Hyper Carry role: in teams built to power her as the sole damage dealer, your focus will be on applying as many buffs to her as possible before she activates her Ultimate, which in turn amplifies her burst rotation. The second is the Quick-Swap role, where she’s paired with another damage dealer. Here, the priority shifts to keeping her standard Resonance Skill and Echo on cooldown as frequently as possible, while also cycling through the rest of your team. Even though her Ultimate remains powerful in Quick-Swap teams, it’s primarily used to fill the downtime between other characters’ cooldown periods.

T1.5
Chixia
Chixia
Rarity |
Weapon |
4star |
Pistols |
Chixia, a free 4-star Fusion Pistol DPS, stands out with one of the game’s most devastating Ultimates. Her gameplay centers heavily on her unique Forte—a run-and-gun channeled ability that defines her damage output. This Forte lets her stack up to 60 Thermobaric Bullets through Basic Attacks, Intro Skill, and standard Resonance Skill. By long-pressing her skill, she unleashes these bullets in rapid succession via "DAKA DAKA," moving freely in any direction while auto-targeting a single enemy. After consuming at least 30 bullets (the optimal amount for players), pressing her Basic Attack triggers a finishing strike: Resonance Skill: Boom Boom. Together, these make up the bulk of her damage and form the core of her playstyle, which thrives in teams that grant her enough field time to fully channel this Forte.
She ranks T1.5 among Fusion characters thanks to her exceptional Ultimate damage, unique Forte mechanics, and accessibility as a free unit, balancing power with usability.
