Radiant Moongecko is the kind of Genshin 6.4 new boss that can turn a quick resin run into a “wait, why is my damage gone?” moment—especially if you’re already eyeing Varka and planning your pre-farm route.
This guide keeps it simple: where it is, what its kit looks like, what makes the fight tick, and which team styles feel smooth for consistent clears.
Radiant Moongecko Overview

Radiant Moongecko (Lv.100)
Base HP: 1164660 Base ATK: 17235
Base DEF: 1000 RES: 70% to Geo; 10% to Others
An ancient monster drawn to moonlight, this gecko dwells deep within layers of rock.
The gradual accumulation of kuuvahki has crystallized its body into segments as precise as mechanical components. These parts can harden and form stone spikes used to repel intruders.
Some scholars believe this unusual lizard's ancestors once roamed the surface. Over the ages, sweeping changes in the world drove them underground, where they have since lived in darkness for countless generations. Though their memory of true moonlight has faded, instinct remains. On nights of the full moon, they are compelled to gnaw on rock and soil suffused with lunar radiance to preserve their bloodline.
How to Find Radiant Moongecko
Radiant Moongecko’s exact map spot isn’t confirmed yet, but once it’s live you can locate it through the Adventurer Handbook: go to Enemies → Boss Enemies, find Radiant Moongecko in the list, then tap Navigate to drop a map marker and auto-route to it.
Why This Boss Matters
Prismatic Severed Tail is listed as a Lv. 30+ Radiant Moongecko drop, and it’s currently shown on Varka’s ascension material list—so if you’re pre-farming for Varka, this is the boss you’ll be living at.
Radiant Moongecko Skill Kit
Radiant Shield
Upon entering combat, Radiant Moongecko immediately generates a 9-segment shield and starts a 25-second shieldbreak window. When the 3rd and 6th shield segments are destroyed, the Moongecko suffers self-damage based on its Max HP.
When the shield is fully destroyed, the Moongecko takes an additional hit based on a percentage of the damage it received during the shieldbreak phase. If the shield is not fully destroyed before the window ends, the Moongecko unleashes a massive arena-wide attack.
After the shield breaks, the Moongecko becomes incapacitated for about 7 seconds, then the fight transitions into its Cocoon phase. The shield is re-generated roughly 50 seconds after being broken.
Radiant Cocoon
When Radiant Cocoon is applied, affected characters are put under a heavy combat penalty: CRIT Rate is reduced by 100%, DMG Bonus is reduced by 50%, and incoming healing effectiveness is reduced by 40% while the Cocoon lasts. Once an affected character is healed back to 100% HP, the Cocoon is removed and is replaced by Disentangled, which grants CRIT Rate +15% and DMG Bonus +50% for 15s.
Geo Reinforcement
Radiant Moongecko, as a Radiant creature, can draw on Geo power during combat to increase its Geo RES, reinforcing its defenses while this state is active.
Voidstep Reverberation
When Radiant Moongecko begins preparing Voidstep Reverberation, it places a Moonstone Anchor. If the Anchor is destroyed during the preparation, the cast is terminated and Radiant Moongecko takes massive damage; the more damage dealt to the Anchor during this window, the more damage Radiant Moongecko takes when the Anchor is destroyed.
Boss Fight Strategies and Techniques
Start the run with a short, “all gas” opener: get your buffs and off-field skills down fast, then stay on a tight swap rhythm so damage keeps ticking while you’re working through the shield segments. During the brief down window after the break, use it to reset cleanly—collect energy, refresh key buffs, and make sure your healer is ready to fire immediately when the next phase begins.
Once Radiant Cocoon shows up, the goal is a quick full-HP top-up on the affected character so you can immediately play inside the Disentangled window. That means keeping the whole party’s HP comfortably high beforehand, then using a strong, front-loaded heal (teamwide or single-target) to “flip” the phase without stalling your rotation.
When Voidstep Reverberation starts charging, snap your camera to Moonstone Anchor on spawn. Anchor break is your biggest swing, so build for it: keep Hydro on the Anchor, then repeatedly apply Geo to trigger Lunar-Crystallize until it pops, using fast appliers and short cooldown hits to stack triggers quickly.

Team Recommendation
To build around Radiant Moongecko’s flow, your party basically wants four “jobs” covered: a Lunar-Crystallize enabler (right now that means Zibai or Columbina), a reliable Hydro source and a reliable Geo source so you can force Lunar-Crystallize on demand (it’s the Hydro↔Geo Lunar reaction), a real healer who can quickly top people up when Cocoon/penalty timing gets awkward, and at least one fast-hitting damage dealer who can chew through segmented/shield-gated phases without waiting for one huge nuke.
