Severian Lowell has little patience for pleasantries—and his fighting style wastes just as little time. New Eridu’s Public Security Commissioner is expected to join the playable roster on November 11, 2026, during Version 3.3 Phase 2, bringing a Wind Attack playstyle built around precise evasions and relentless counterattacks.
Getting the most out of him takes more than quick reflexes. This Severian build guide covers his best W-Engines, Drive Discs, stat priorities, and team compositions to help you turn every opening into a decisive strike.
Severian Overview

Rarity: S-Rank | Attribute: Wind | Specialty: Attack
Severian is a Wind Attack agent who turns well-timed evasions into offensive momentum. His kit rewards reading enemy attacks, weaving dodges into his combos, and building resources for a powerful charged assault. Automatic evasions offer a safety net, while precise timing helps him maintain pressure without abandoning his attack sequence.
His role centers on direct damage, with enhanced entry attacks giving him a reason to rotate alongside teammates rather than stay on field indefinitely. Support or Stun partners activate his additional ability, making him a natural fit for teams that create damage windows and let him capitalize on them.
Severian Skill Priority
| Skill | Target Level |
|---|---|
| Basic Attack | 12 |
| Chain Attack / Ultimate | 12 |
| Special Attack | 11 |
| Dodge | 9 |
| Assist | 7 |
Upgrade Core Skill alongside Basic Attack. His enhanced counters and Flow-consuming slashes make Basic Attack the main priority; Chain Attack also upgrades his Ultimate, while EX Special supports his counterattack loop. These targets are before Mindscape level bonuses and do not change fixed resource gains.
Severian Skill Kit
Basic Attack
Basic Attack: Swift Edge
Press
to perform up to four forward strikes that deal Wind DMG. The fourth strike generates 20 Flow when it hits an enemy.
The fourth strike can evade an incoming attack at activation. A successful evasion raises its damage and Daze multipliers to those of Basic Attack: Raging Whirlwind and generates an extra 15 Flow. Severian is invulnerable during this fourth strike.
Using a Dash Attack, Dodge Counter, or Dodge: Spontaneity during the combo preserves his Basic Attack combo count.
Basic Attack: Raging Whirlwind
Triggers automatically if an enemy attacks Severian just as he starts any of his first three Basic Attack strikes. It can also trigger when Shadowflash protects him from a non-Control Skill attack while he is not invulnerable.
Severian rushes forward and deals heavy Wind DMG in front of him. Activating the attack generates 15 Flow, and hitting an enemy generates another 20 Flow.
Hold
during this move to quickly follow with Basic Attack: Azure Wind's Shadowhunt. Releasing that attack's final hit generates 20 Flow.
Severian is invulnerable throughout Raging Whirlwind.
Basic Attack: Azure Wind's Shadowhunt
With at least 100 Flow, hold
to spend 100 Flow. Severian evades backward, charges, and then darts across the area with repeated slashes that deal heavy Wind DMG in front of him.
The initial backward movement can evade attacks. Successfully avoiding an enemy hit activates Vital View and generates 15 Flow.
Severian is invulnerable while executing this move.
Dodge
Dodge: Windshift
Press
for a quick evasive dash. A Perfect Dodge performed with Windshift generates 15 Flow, with a 0.5-second trigger cooldown.
Severian is invulnerable during the dodge.
Dash Attack: Sheer Assault
During a dodge, press
to strike forward and deal Wind DMG.
Dodge Counter: Fatal End
After Windshift produces a Perfect Dodge, press
for a fast forward slash that deals Wind DMG.
Switching Severian off-field immediately after that Perfect Dodge makes this counter activate automatically.
Severian is invulnerable during the counter.
Dodge: Spontaneity
After dodging backward, continue holding
to provoke the enemy.
Assist Skills
Quick Assist: Field Orders
When the active Agent is launched, press
to bring in Severian. He rushes forward with claw strikes and slashes, dealing Wind DMG to enemies ahead.
Severian is invulnerable during this assist.
Defensive Assist: Provocation Prohibited
Just before the active Agent takes an enemy hit, press
to parry with Severian and inflict substantial Daze.
Severian is invulnerable during the parry.
Assist Follow-Up: Fight Force with Force
After a Defensive Assist, press
to follow with slashes, claw strikes, and cannon fire that deal Wind DMG.
Severian is invulnerable during this follow-up.
Entry Skill: Clear Out
While Severian has Windborne and combat is active, press
to switch him onto the field and perform a powerful forward slash that deals Wind DMG.
This activation counts as a Quick Assist, but the attack is not classified as a heavy attack.
Severian is invulnerable during the Entry Skill.
Special Attack
Special Attack: Gale Rend
Press
to perform forward slashes and thrusts that deal Wind DMG.
EX Special Attack: Swiftwind Rupture
With enough Energy, press
to perform a forward combination of slashes, claw strikes, and cannon fire. The move deals heavy Wind DMG and grants one Shadowflash stack.
Hold
before the cannon shot to continue spending Energy and release repeated Wind Blades. Reaching the maximum Energy expenditure grants one more Shadowflash stack.
Severian is invulnerable during the EX Special Attack.
Chain Attack and Ultimate
Chain Attack: Coldblade Reap
Select Severian when a Chain Attack is available to unleash a series of forward strikes that deal heavy Wind DMG. The move generates 35 Flow after use.
Severian is invulnerable during the Chain Attack.
Ultimate: Annihilating Windstorm
At maximum Decibels, press
to unleash successive rapid slashes that deal heavy Wind DMG. The Ultimate generates 100 Flow after use.
Severian is invulnerable during the Ultimate.
Core Skills
Core Passive: Endless Breeze
At maximum Core Skill level, Severian gains 60% CRIT DMG and 25% DMG. Having another Wind Agent in the squad grants an additional 30% DMG.
Timing Swift Edge just before an enemy hit lets him evade it. Evasions during the first three strikes trigger Raging Whirlwind; an evasion during the fourth strike raises that strike to the damage and Daze multipliers of Raging Whirlwind.
Entering the battlefield grants two Shadowflash stacks. In Investigation Zone mode, this entry effect has a 180-second cooldown.
If he has Shadowflash, is not invulnerable, and fails to manually evade or parry a non-Control Skill attack, one stack is spent to evade automatically and trigger Raging Whirlwind.
Evasions performed through Swift Edge, Shadowflash, or a direct dodge all count as Perfect Dodges.
Shadowflash holds up to two stacks. Gaining another stack while already at the cap grants one Windborne stack instead and upgrades the next Swift Edge to Raging Whirlwind.
Each Perfect Dodge also grants one Windborne stack. During combat, switching him in with
while Windborne is available activates his Entry Skill.
Certain skill hits and Perfect Dodges generate Flow, up to a normal cap of 150. At 100 or more Flow, hold
to spend 100 and use Azure Wind's Shadowhunt.
Additional Ability: Optimal Setup
Activates when a teammate has the Support or Stun specialty, or belongs to the same faction as Severian.
Each 1% CRIT Rate gives Severian 8.5 ATK. The conversion counts up to 100% CRIT Rate, for a maximum of 850 ATK.
Mindscape Cinema
Mindscape Cinema 1: Double Espresso
His Chain Attack generates 50 Flow instead of 35.
Switching in through Clear Out can replace that Entry Skill with a Chain Attack once every 60 seconds. Its entry type stays the same, and it remains a non-heavy attack.
Using Azure Wind's Shadowhunt grants one Windborne stack. Severian's attacks also ignore 15% of the target's Wind RES.
Mindscape Cinema 2: Reins of Reason
Entering the battlefield restores 150 Flow, with a 180-second cooldown in Investigation Zone mode.
A Perfect Dodge or Azure Wind's Shadowhunt grants 20% PEN Ratio for 25 seconds.
Mindscape Cinema 3: The Last Light
Raises Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack, and Chain Attack levels by 2.
Mindscape Cinema 4: Between Light and Shadow
Entering combat or switching on-field grants 10% ATK for 30 seconds. Triggering the effect again refreshes its duration.
Raging Whirlwind or Azure Wind's Shadowhunt grants 10% Decibel Generation Rate for 15 seconds.
Mindscape Cinema 5: A Heart Above 0°C
Raises Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack, and Chain Attack levels by 2.
Mindscape Cinema 6: Beneath a Little Star
Raises the Flow cap to 180 and the Flow restored on battlefield entry to 180.
The additional damage multiplier on the final hit of Azure Wind's Shadowhunt gains a fixed 350% increase.
Releasing that final hit grants Windrise, generating 5 Flow per second for 5 seconds. Triggering Windrise again refreshes its duration.
Severian Materials
These totals cover Level 60, a fully upgraded Core Skill, and all five skill branches at Level 12. They are the full-upgrade budget, so you can spend less initially by following the skill priorities above.

Severian Best W-Engines
Incarcerating Grip — Best in Slot
713 Base ATK | 24% CRIT Rate
W1 effect: Increases CRIT Rate by 20%. Hitting an enemy with a Basic Attack increases ATK by 10% and lets his damage ignore 15% of the target's Wind RES for 16 seconds.
This is his most complete option: CRIT Rate improves critical consistency and feeds his Additional Ability's ATK conversion, while Basic Attack hits activate the remaining bonuses during his normal attacks. Wind RES ignore benefits his Wind damage without requiring a different rotation.
Cordis Germina
A strong alternative if you already own it. At W1, its 24% CRIT Rate secondary stat and 15% passive CRIT Rate make building consistent critical hits easier. Separate uses of Basic Attack or EX Special build its stacks, with at most one stack per skill use; at two stacks, Basic Attack and Ultimate damage ignore 20% of enemy DEF. Its Electric DMG bonus does not increase Severian's Wind damage, but the critical stats and DEF ignore remain useful.
Heartstring Nocturne
A straightforward critical-stat alternative, providing 24% CRIT Rate at Level 60 and 50% CRIT DMG at W1. Both help his direct damage, and the CRIT Rate also contributes to his ATK conversion. Its Fire RES ignore does not benefit his Wind attacks, so use it for its critical stats rather than expecting the full passive to apply.
Cannon Rotor
The A-Rank choice in this setup. Its Level 60 CRIT Rate stat helps cover Severian's most important stat, while its passive supplies ATK and a periodic extra damage proc after a critical hit. It is a practical substitute if you own it from the paid battle pass, though its lower Base ATK and smaller offensive package leave room for an S-Rank upgrade.
Severian Best Drive Discs
Dawn's Bloom + Woodpecker Electro
| 4-piece | 2-piece |
|---|---|
|
Dawn's Bloom |
Woodpecker Electro |
Use this combination when Severian still needs CRIT Rate. Woodpecker Electro adds 8%, improving critical consistency and the ATK gained from his Additional Ability. Dawn's Bloom strengthens his Basic Attack damage, including his enhanced counter and Flow-consuming slash sequence.
Dawn's Bloom + Puffer Electro
| 4-piece | 2-piece |
|---|---|
|
Dawn's Bloom |
Puffer Electro |
Choose Puffer Electro when your W-Engine and substats already provide enough CRIT Rate. Its 2-piece bonus grants 8% PEN Ratio, allowing his attacks to bypass a portion of enemy DEF. It is a useful alternative when Woodpecker Electro would push his CRIT Rate over 100% in combat, and it also complements the PEN Ratio gained from his M2.
Keep Dawn's Bloom active: use an EX Special Attack or Ultimate to activate its timed Basic Attack bonus before committing to his enhanced slash sequence. Both skills also help prepare that sequence by providing Shadowflash or Flow.
Severian Main Stats and Substats
| Slot | Recommended Main Stat |
|---|---|
| Disc 4 | CRIT Rate |
| Disc 5 | ATK% / PEN Ratio / Wind DMG Bonus |
| Disc 6 | ATK% |
Substats: CRIT Rate > CRIT DMG > ATK%. CRIT Rate also feeds his ATK conversion. Choose Disc 5 around your bonuses and substats; PEN Ratio pairs well with Puffer Electro and M2. Once combat CRIT Rate reaches 100%, focus on CRIT DMG and ATK%.
Endgame Stat Targets
| Stat | Reference Target |
|---|---|
| CRIT Rate | 75–80% |
| CRIT DMG | 130–150% |
| ATK | 2,800–3,000 |
These targets vary with equipment and buffs. Count Incarcerating Grip's W1 passive CRIT Rate only once; aim to stay at or below 100% total CRIT Rate in combat.
Severian Pull Recommendation
M0W1 → M1W1 → M2W1 → M6W5
M refers to Mindscape Cinema; W refers to the signature W-Engine's upgrade level. M0W1 means one copy of Severian with his signature at W1. These are investment stopping points, with M6W5 reserved for maximum investment.
| Stopping point | Recommendation and reason |
|---|---|
| M0W1 | The main target for players building around Severian. His counter-and-Flow gameplay is available at M0, while his signature supplies CRIT Rate, ATK, and Wind RES ignore in one slot. |
| M1W1 | A useful first duplicate. M1 adds Wind RES ignore, increases Chain Attack Flow generation, and improves his entry-and-enhanced-Basic loop. This adds damage and makes rotations easier to sustain. |
| M2W1 | A strong stopping point for further investment. M2 supplies Flow on entering the battlefield and gives PEN Ratio after a Perfect Dodge or enhanced Basic Attack, improving his opening and later damage windows. |
| M6W5 | The maximum-investment destination. M6 raises his Flow capacity, strengthens the enhanced finisher, and restores Flow after it. W5 further improves his signature's bonuses. This is optional; his core gameplay does not require it. |
If you already own Cordis Germina or Heartstring Nocturne, M0 with an existing W-Engine is a workable starting point. Complete his Drive Discs and supporting team before deciding how far to invest beyond M0W1.
Severian Best Team Comps
Severian + Norma + Astra Yao
| Main DPS | Stun | Support |
|---|---|---|
| Severian | Norma | Astra Yao |
Norma contributes off-field Daze, leaving Severian more time to attack and react to enemies. Her extra Chain Attack opportunities also help him generate Flow. Astra provides offensive buffs and Quick Assist opportunities, helping him return to the field after support setup. The team combines sustained field time with stronger damage windows, and its Stun and Support slots activate Severian's Additional Ability.
Flexible Severian Teams
Severian + (Norma / Roxy) + (Astra Yao / Sunna / Dialyn)
Keep Severian in the main damage slot, choose Norma or Roxy for the second slot, and use Astra Yao, Sunna, or Dialyn in the third. Astra and Sunna provide a conventional Stun-and-Support setup. Choosing Dialyn creates a double-Stun team focused on Daze, offensive buffs, and extra Ultimate opportunities.
Norma — off-field Daze and Chain Attack access. Choose Norma to give Severian more room to stay on field and counter incoming attacks. Her off-field Daze helps prepare Stun windows, while her Chain Attack opportunities help him recover Flow for his next enhanced Basic Attack.
Roxy — Wind synergy and stronger Stun windows. Roxy activates the extra damage bonus Severian gains from having another Wind Agent in the squad. She also increases the enemy's Stun DMG Multiplier and can extend Stun duration, giving him a better opening for his enhanced slash sequence. Her Contamination and Cleanse mechanics can provide a Wind CRIT DMG buff, adding another reason to use her in this team.
Astra Yao — offensive buffs and smooth swaps. Her ATK, DMG, and CRIT DMG buffs strengthen Severian's direct attacks, while Quick Assist opportunities help him return after support setup. Choose her for a straightforward rotation that keeps his damage buffed without taking much field time.
Sunna — ATK and additional damage support. Her ATK buff strengthens Severian's direct attacks, while Cat's Gaze adds damage as he attacks marked enemies. Apply her setup before bringing him in for his main damage sequence, and refresh it between his attack windows.
Dialyn — double-Stun alternative. Dialyn contributes Daze and offensive support alongside Norma or Roxy. Her ability to convert a teammate's Chain Attack into an Ultimate is the key benefit: Severian can use that Ultimate to deal damage and restore 100 Flow, then spend it on another enhanced Basic Attack. Build her Positive Reviews and prepare the conversion before selecting Severian in the Chain Attack sequence.
Conclusion
Start with his Basic Attack and Core Skill, build enough CRIT Rate to make his damage reliable, and build a team that prepares strong damage windows for his main attacks. Dawn's Bloom anchors both recommended disc setups; your W-Engine and remaining stats determine whether Woodpecker Electro or Puffer Electro is the better finishing piece. Once those foundations are ready, M1 and M2 are the next investment points to consider.
