With the version 2.5 update, the newest Voind Hunter Ye Shunguang has finally arrived. And that title is no joke, especially consider how much damge she can pour out.
In this Ye Shunguang build guide, I will work through her Skill Priority, Drive Discs, W-Engines, and best team comps. Now let's check it out!

Ye Shunguang Overview

Rarity: S-Rank | Element: Physical (Honed Edge) | Class: Attack
Ye Shunguang is a stance-driven Honed Edge carry who turns every Ultimate: Thundering Cloud Chaser or Quick Assist: Shadowbane into Enlightened State, blanketing the field with Ether Veil: Verdict and kicking off her real combo game. In this state she routes between grounded strings like Basic Attack: Enlightened State – Parting Waters and airborne lines like Basic Attack: Enlightened State – Lightstream Slash, spending Qingming Sword Stance to “upgrade” hits into nasty conversions (hello Rising Force / Lightstream Extinction) and cashing out with huge finishers that don’t really care about the classic “build Daze → burst” rhythm—they just shred HP.
Her Core Passive, Illuminating Clarity, is what makes the damage feel unfair: Ether Veil: Verdict applies Veil Vulnerability, converting an enemy’s Stun DMG Multiplier into a straight damage-taken bonus (capped) so she can keep “stun-tier” damage pressure without waiting for the full Stun window. Add her Qingming/Embracing Earth stack flow for smoother stance uptime, and she ends up being both a boss killer and an Ether Veil-centric specialist. If you enjoy high-APM sword routing, perfect-dodge conversions, and picking the exact moment to slam EX Special Attack: Enlightened State – Return to Dust or Ultimate: Illusion-Cleaving Heaven Strike as the finisher, she’s built for you.
Ye Shunguang Key mechanics & features

Enlightened State + Ether Veil: Verdict
Ultimate: Thundering Cloud Chaser (or Quick Assist: Shadowbane) flips Ye Shunguang into Enlightened State and opens Ether Veil: Verdict for a fixed window. Enemies entering the Veil gain Veil Vulnerability, converting their current Stun DMG Multiplier into bonus damage taken—then disappearing when Verdict ends.
Qingming Sword Stance + Embracing Earth economy
Her damage loop is pure resource economy: build Qingming Sword Stance, bank overflow as Embracing Earth, then refund it back into stance when Enlightened State ends. Inside the window, stance stacks power heavier routes and finishers, while Sword Aura (hold Basic) spends momentum for steady, interruption-resistant pressure.
Phantom Afterimage swap-ins + Flying Light → Return to Dust
Additional Ability: Phantom Afterimage makes her swap timing reactive: with an Assist/Defense ally, teammates activating any Ether Veil preloads her stance resources so your next entry starts “ready.” From there you convert stacks into EX Flying Light pressure, then use Return to Dust to cash out and cleanly exit the window.

Start with Core Skill — this powers up Sword Stance scaling and Veil Vulnerability, so every point here directly multiplies her main DPS windows and boss-killing output.
Next, level Basic Attack — it upgrades all her stance strings and third-hit finishers; since most of her time on-field is spent mashing/looping Basics, this is her biggest direct damage boost.
Then invest in Special Attack — stronger Specials/EX make her Sword Stance economy smoother, buff Sword Stance – UP, and crank up EX Special Attack, turning well-routed strings into huge cash-out nukes.
After that, Chain Attack — great for big AoE and clean stance entries, but it’s on a longer timer, so it comes after the always-available buttons.
Dodge next — nice for Perfect-Dodge counters and tech, but more QoL than core damage.
Assist last — useful extra Daze/safety, yet least important for her primary role as an on-field main DPS.

Ye Shunguang Best Drive Discs
4-Piece Drive Discs Selection
|
White Water Ballad |
2-Piece Set: Physical DMG +10%. 4-Piece Set: While the equipper is within any [Ether Veil], their CRIT Rate increases by 12%. After leaving the [Ether Veil], this buff persists for 15 seconds. When the equipper is an [Attack] Character, activating or extending the duration of [Ether Veil] additionally increases their CRIT Rate by 12% for 30 seconds; repeated triggers reset the duration. |
|
White Water Ballad is basically Ye Shunguang’s comfort set. She’s a Physical Attack unit, so the 2-piece is straight damage. More importantly, her Ultimate, Entry, and Ready to Strike constantly activate or refresh Ether Veil, letting her sit inside Veil for most of a fight. That turns the 4-piece into near-permanent CRIT Rate—stacking with her own Sword Aura CRIT—so every stance string and finisher lands far more reliably. |

2-Piece Drive Discs Selection
|
Branch & Blade Song |
2-Pc: CRIT DMG +16% |
|
Branch & Blade Song’s 2-piece gives pure CRIT DMG, perfect once you’ve stacked enough CRIT from Sword Aura and other sources, turning every Sword Stance string and finisher into noticeably fatter, scarier crits |
|
|
Woodpecker Electro |
2-Pc: CRIT Rate +8% |
|
Hormone Punk |
2-Pc: ATK +10% |
|
Astral Voice |
2-Pc: ATK +10% |
|
Fanged Metal |
2-Pc: Physical DMG +10% |
These five sets perform very similarly; just pick whichever one has the better substats.
|
Puffer Electro |
2-Pc: PEN Ratio +8% |
|
You have to run a PEN Ratio Slot 5 disc with Puffer Electro. When fighting regular bosses, Puffer Electro is the go-to for Ye Shunguang if she is below M2, with the 32% PEN Ratio setup being the ceiling. Specifically, at M0S1, it’s 4–5% better than other 2-piece sets, and about 2.5–3.5% better at M1S1. By M2S1, the gap closes, and it performs about the same as any other 2-piece set. Performance-wise, a 4-piece Puffer Electro is about 93.5% as strong as White Water Ballad. |

Slot 5 |
PEN Ratio / ATK / Physical DMG |

Slot 6 |
ATK |
The PEN Ratio main stat on Slot 5 is only recommended when paired with the Puffer Electro 2-piece set.
Sub Stats

CRIT DMG / ATK |
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (Top) |
|
CRIT Rate |
⭐⭐⭐⭐ (High) |
|
PEN |
⭐⭐⭐ (Mid) |
For substats, CRIT DMG and ATK are the highest priorities. CRIT Rate is actually just as valuable, but Ye Shunguang has very limited CRIT Rate substat room and can easily overcap, so it’s best to cap her at 50.6% CRIT Rate on the stat screen.
Ye Shunguang Best W-Engines
Signature W-Engine

Cloudcleave Radiance
ATK: 743 HP: 30%
Increases equipper’s Physical DMG PEN Ratio by 15%; When equipper activates [Ether Veil], increases own DMG by 30% and CRIT DMG by 20% for 30 seconds, repeated triggers reset the duration.
Cloudcleave Radiance is basically tailor-made for Ye Shunguang: flat Physical PEN directly fattens all her stance strings and EX Special Attack, especially versus tanky bosses where PEN shines the most.
She’s constantly triggering Ether Veil through Ultimate, Entry and Ready to Strike, so the DMG + CRIT DMG buff is up for almost every Sword Stance window. Stack that on top of her own CRIT from Sword Aura, and this W-Engine turns each rotation into a fully juiced burst phase.
Unless you have W5 The Brimstone, it’s recommended to pull this signature weapon first, then go for M1.
Alternative W-Engine
|
Severed Innocence (S-Rank) |
Severed Innocence is a strong stat stick for Ye Shunguang: she spams Basic and Special in Sword Stance, so the stacking CRIT DMG ramps quickly and stays up through boss phases. She can’t use the Electric DMG bonus, but the sheer crit scaling still makes it a solid off-element option. |
|
Heartstring Nocturne (S-Rank) |
Heartstring Nocturne frontloads a huge chunk of CRIT DMG plus extra CRIT from its main stat, which Ye loves for her stance strings and finishers. The Fire RES ignore is wasted, but the stronger Chain/Ultimate hits still line up nicely with her Sword Stance entry bursts and phase finishers.. |
|
The Brimstone (S-Rank) |
The Brimstone is a simple but reliable pick: constant Basic, Dash and counter hits in Sword Stance stack its ATK buff to the cap and keep it there. That steady ATK steroid feeds all her Physical damage, making it a good universal S-rank if you lack more tailored options. |
W-Engine Comparison:
Signature (S1): 100%
Severed Innocence (S1): 79.2%
The Brimstone: 76.8% (S1) / 86.8% (S5, 6 stacks)
Ye Shunguang Pull recommendation
First number = Mindscape Cinema (M), second = signature W-Engine (S).
- Low Budget (M0+S0)
Already a strong on-field carry. She has Sword Stance, Ether Veil and EX Special Attack, but has to build Sword Will from scratch and manage rotations more carefully. - Mid Budget (M1+S0 or M0+S1)
M1+S0 gives 6 Sword Will on entry and stronger Sky Force floors, so every first stance feels “pre-loaded” and hits harder. M0+S1 instead pumps stats: Physical PEN + big DMG / CRIT DMG whenever she triggers Ether Veil, supercharging each stance window. Great value tier. - Standard Budget (M1+S1)
The comfy sweet spot. You get both the “start with full ammo” feeling from M1 and the constant Ether Veil steroid from S1, making her Sword Stance loops smooth, front-loaded and very competitive for boss melts. - High Budget (M2+S1)
M2’s Harmony mechanic lets Flash consume Harmony stacks instead of Sword Will, extending EX Flash strings and making her burst more forgiving. - Unlimited Budget (M6+S1 / M6+S5)
Max Cinema unlocks the Heaven-style fusion follow-up (extra 500% ATK hit + extended Secret Art chain) and more skill levels, turning every stance into a showcase combo. With higher-rank Cloudcleave Radiance, this is pure luxury for dedicated Ye enjoyers.

Ye Shunguang + Zhao + Seed
This is a “double carry + tank” lineup. Zhao sets up Ether Veil, buffs ATK / HP / CRIT DMG and keeps everyone safe while constantly proccing Ye’s Ready to Strike so she can entry straight into Sword Stance. Ye handles long single-target phases as the main Physical Honed Edge DPS, while Seed covers Electric weakness, clears waves, and dumps Steel Charge during downtime in Ye’s Veil windows.
Ye Shunguang + Zhao + Astra Yao
Here you’re playing a classic “solo” for Ye with double supports. Zhao provides Ether Veil triggers, mitigation and team stats, making it trivial for Ye to chain Entry → Sword Stance loops. Astra Yao layers Idyllic Cadenza buffs on top—ATK, PEN, DEF shred and healing—plus frequent Quick/Chain assists that keep Decibels flowing. All of that funnels into Ye’s Veil Vulnerability slashes for extremely high, safe boss DPS.
Ye Shunguang + Zhao + Dialyn
This version leans into control and extra ults. Dialyn is your Physical Stun specialist, stacking Positive Reviews and huge Daze so bosses topple over on schedule, while also granting team DMG buffs, longer stun timers and extra Chain/Ultimate access. Zhao again handles Ether Veil uptime and safety. Ye then ignores the normal Stun multiplier, replacing it with her own Veil Vulnerability and cashing out every stun cycle with massive Sword Stance finishers.
Conclusion
Built properly, Ye Shunguang is a self-sufficient boss melter and a specialist answer to Miasma-heavy content. Once you’re comfortable routing Sword Will, Sky Force, and Flash → Annihilation, Ye Shunguang becomes a long-term carry for any Physical/Honed Edge roster.
And if you’re planning to pull her, you can always stock up Monochrome through LDShop for safe, discounted Zenless Zone Zero top-ups—then just sit back and enjoy watching bosses vanish in a single stance window.
