Buff of Breath of the Othershore: Memory Turbulence

Buff's effect

Buff's effect

Additionally, when using Skill or Memosprite Skill, a random weakness attribute that the enemy does not have will be added to a random enemy. This is equivalent to using Anaxa's ability for free, effectively marking the enemy as "vulnerable." For characters like Rappa, if paired with a Trailblazer-Harmony or Lingsha who frequently use Skill, this can significantly enhance their damage output efficiency.

Moreover, at the beginning of each round, the Memory Turbulence will deal 1 instance of true damage to all enemies. If an enemy has more than 3 weaknesses, they will take an additional instance of true damage for each extra weakness, with a single instance of damage reaching as high as 40,000 to 50,000. This buff is particularly suitable for combat skill-based characters, such as Castorice, The Herta, and Anaxa, further enhancing their damage output capabilities.

*It should be noted that this weakness does not explicitly reduce the enemy's corresponding resistance; it is only suitable for triggering certain equipment or character traits, or for reducing the enemy's resilience bar.

Mechanism Analysis of Pollux

Pollux

The battle mechanism of the Netherwing Husk revolves around a marker on its HP bar "Desperate Bubble" which has three states: Fragrance of Death, Dream of Demise, and Indulging Slumber. Players need to adjust their strategies based on these different states (by carefully managing the enemy's HP) in order to defeat it effectively. Here are detailed explanations of the three states:

Dream of Demise

marker

When Pollux is in the Dream of Demise state, our characters need to consume HP to charge the marker. Under this state, the Pollux has a significant 90% DMG Mitigation. No matter which character you use, the damage dealt is minimal, essentially creating an "equal-opportunity" scratching state. In this state, what we need to do is quickly consume HP to charge energy and remove the DMG Mitigation. There are actually two main ways to charge energy:

  • The first method:

Utilize character skills that consume HP to quickly charge the marker. We can use characters like Castorice (who seems tailor-made for this) or Mydei to achieve rapid charging.

  • The second method:

Leverage the Pollux's attacks on our characters to consume HP, thereby achieving the goal of charging. There is an important point to note here: when the three targets of the Pollux attack our characters, if our character's HP is above a certain percentage, the enemy's attack damage will transform into a forced HP reduction, dealing percentage-based damage to the character, which can slightly accelerate our HP depletion.

Fragrance of Death

The Fragrance of Death state is relatively simpler. When in this state, damage dealt to the Pollux by our characters will reduce the charge value located at the bottom right of its health bar.

descript

When this charge value is reduced to 0, it will immediately deal approximately 12% of the Pollux's maximum HP as damage. At the same time, as we deal damage to it, our HP will be restored based on our attacks.

*When the Pollux enters this state, it will reduce the damage dealt by our entire team. However, this effect will be diluted as our characters' HP is restored, until it reaches half HP. Therefore, it is best to pair with a character in the Abundance (such as a healer) to promptly restore health and quickly reach above half health, in order to remove the damage reduction debuff and avoid relying on the healing mechanism through the marker (which is less efficient).

Indulging Slumber

After the Fragrance of Death state ends, the Pollux's Desperate Bubble will enter the Indulging Slumber state. Once the Pollux begins its next action, it will enter the Dream of Demise state again, repeating this cycle.

Stage 12, Node 1: Pollux

There are no minions in the Node 1; players face the new BOSS Pollux directly from the start. The attribute advantage is "Quantum > Wind = Lightning = Imaginary." Its core mechanics are as described above: 90% DMG Mitigation, Desperate Bubble charging, HP depletion, and debuffs. The key to the battle is breaking through the DMG Mitigation while avoiding a team collapse.

Strategy

  • Prioritize Characters with Self-Damage Mechanisms

When the Pollux's Desperate Bubble at the bottom right, it indicates that the Pollux is in the 90% DMG Mitigation state. In this state, any damage dealt is minimal, essentially ineffective. To counter this, use characters like Castorice, who can quickly consume their own health to charge the bubble and remove the DMG Mitigation effect.

*If your characters lack a DMG Mitigation mechanism, this phase is primarily for building up character energy and buffs while waiting for Pollux's active attacks to drain your HP.

  • Prioritize Healing and Survival Characters in Your Team Composition

Once the "Desperate Bubble" is fully charged, the Pollux's 90% DMG Mitigation effect is removed, and it will immediately act to reduce your team's HP to 1 point. At this point, your entire team will be in the "Indulging Slumber" state (indicated by a bright red icon above their heads). If your health falls below 50%, a damage reduction debuff will be applied. Therefore, it is crucial to have a healer in your team to instantly restore health for your core characters during this phase.

  • Target Selection Recommendations

The Pollux and its two long arms form a single unit, each with their own weaknesses and negative mechanisms, and they share damage. When attacking, prioritize targeting the corresponding weaknesses. In Phase 2, when Pollux has no damage reduction, its weaknesses are locked. Attacking the long arms can also damage the weaknesses, dealing more overall damage.

Team Composition : Castorice Team

To quickly accumulate the charge for the Pollux's "Desperate Bubble," a team with characters that can self-inflict damage naturally has a significant advantage. Players who have Casotrice don't need to worry about the long process of charging. Here is a specific team composition you can consider:

Castorice

Castorice

Trailbrazer

Trailbrazer

Tribbie

Tribbie

Gallagher

Gallagher

The Pollux can be considered a "special target" for Castorice. Castorice can burn its own HP to charge the "Desperate Bubble." The Pollux summoned by Castorice won't be affected by the enemy damage reduction from the "Indulging Slumber" attack. In this stage, Gallagher is better than Luocha because there is only one enemy, the Netherwing Husk, and no wave changes. The Trailbrazer can stack weaknesses and can also be replaced with Sunday. Tribbie can be substituted with Pera. If you don't have Hyacine, you can consider using Gallagher/Luocha/Lingsha to ensure the team's survival.

Team Composition : Mydei Team

Mydei

Mydei

Sunday

Mydei also has the ability to self-inflict damage to charge. Moreover, the S0 Mydei can attack three targets, which perfectly matches the three targets in the battlefield, making the damage output highly efficient without any waste in terms of damage multipliers. However, Mydei's enhanced combat skill is automatically cast, and it can easily be triggered during the damage reduction period. As a result, the damage dealt to the Netherwing Husk by Mydei will fluctuate, being sometimes high and sometimes low. But this does not affect achieving full-star ratings.

Stage 12, Node 2: Banacademic Office Staff

In the Node 2, we face the "Banacademic Office Staff". We can prioritize the advantageous attributes: Ice > Imaginary > Fire > Lightning. Attacking enemies will transform them into the "Off-Class Channel"(smiley face), which casts beneficial skills for our team. Using a crowd-control C-position character to fight the Banacademic Office is very effective, as it can deal high damage while converting each unit into the Off-Class Channel.

  • Enemies have two actions per turn. The smiley face will first cast a beneficial skill for our team, then switch to Off-Class Channel (angry face) to cast a detrimental skill. By inserting our own finishing move between the enemy's two actions, we can force them to switch back to the smiley face, which will again cast a beneficial skill for our team.

Strategy

  • Reserve Crowd-Control Finishing Moves

When the Banacademic Office is attacked, it converts negative effects into beneficial ones for itself. Additionally, at the start of each battle phase, it will actively release a crowd-control finishing move. By leveraging this mechanism, we can reserve a crowd-control finishing move at the beginning of each phase to directly trigger the Banacademic Office's beneficial conversion mechanism. This allows our team to quickly gain an advantageous position in the battle.

  • Reserve Skills to Disrupt Banacademic Office Staffs

When Banacademic Office Staffs are in a beneficial state, inserting a finishing move between their two consecutive actions can delay their second action's face-changing skill, resulting in two consecutive charges! Normally, the Banacademic Office Staffs' action sequence is "charge + face change," but by doing this, we can disrupt their rhythm and force it to become "charge + charge." This allows players to more efficiently accumulate an energy advantage.

Team Composition : The Herta Team

There are always five enemy targets. The Herta has fast energy recovery and can quickly stack and resolve debuffs, with his enhanced combat skill dealing massive damage. Meanwhile, Anaxa's finishing move, combined with Memory Turbulence, can trigger additional true damage. All the characters in the team use crowd control attacks, which can convert enemies into the "smiley face" state, allowing them to cast beneficial skills for our team.

Team Compostion : Rappa Team

The breaking efficiency is extremely high, as the enemies have very short resilience bars, making it easy to break them and charge Rappa's talent, which significantly increases Rappa's damage. Moreover, the buffs in this stage also apply weaknesses to the enemies, solving the problem of Rappa's team relying on enemy weaknesses.

Conclusion

That's the complete guide for the 3.2 version of Honkai: Star Rail's Chaos Memory "Breath of the Othershore." From utilizing the Breath of the Othershore Buff, to managing HP and burst strategies against Pollux, and then to the battle for buffs and rhythm control against the Banacademic Office Staffs, mastering these mechanics and forming a reasonable team composition makes clearing the stage not difficult at all. I hope everyone can flexibly adjust according to their own character pool and find the most suitable strategy to achieve full stars smoothly!
